Xpro-2 and Leica & Zeiss ZM lenses
Mike K replied to Leica007's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
For the Contax G lenses I'm using the Fotodiox Standard CG-FX adaptor and for the Leica M lenses I'm using the Fotodiox Pro LM-FX. FWIW I've also bought 2 K&F Concept adaptors, M42-FX & Leica R-FX. They're about a 1/4 of the price and just as well made as the Fotodiox. -
I think it's a good idea. I agree with what you say about the overlap between the X-Pro2 and the X100T. The X70 will complement the X-Pro2, especially in situations where you have a need for a high quality compact camera.

Xpro-2 and Leica & Zeiss ZM lenses

I tried some shots this evening just after sunset with the CZ Contax G 45mm f2 & Leica M 50mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH. These pics really don't tell you too much, I'll shoot some in better light tomorrow and post. I like the way both lenses handle on the X-Pro2. I find the enlarged manual focus display in the EVF much superior when compared to the X-Pro1. X-Pro2 & Contax G 45mm f2 -
Just adding to this post; along with my X-Pro2 which arrived 2 days ago, I also purchased a Fuji X70. I'm really taken by this little gem of a camera, palm sized, perfectly pocketable, discrete and with great image quality. Great for an everyday, everywhere camera. The pics of Kleo and the Daffodil are straight out of camera Jpegs no PP. The full size quality of the images is unbelievable.

Problem with my X Pro2.

OK I just swapped batteries around with a freshly charged battery, redid the settings and it's now holding the customs settings. Problem solved. -
Problem with my X Pro2.

I received my X-Pro2 yesterday and encountered the "custom settings reset" issue as well. I've tried the fully charged battery / 24hour waiting period and it still loses my custom settings. Probably a Firmware fix will be required. Other than that I'm very pleased, an amazing piece of kit which brings out the best in the Fuji lenses. I'm blown away by image quality with all my lenses, especially the 100-400mm. I purchased an X70 as well, which also arrived yesterday, what a great little camera for everyday / everywhere use. -
On a recent trip to Paris I took both the X-Pro1 & 27mm as well as the X100T. On days when the weather wasn't great and also when going out at night the X100T worked perfectly. With the lens hood removed the X100T fitted comfortably in my coat pocket. The other obvious advantage of having both Fuji cameras, rather than a Panasonic or Sony, is the similarity of the button layout and menu interface etc. with the Fujis. Best, Mike

Camera doesn't shoot
Mike K replied to lleo's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
In shooting mode it won't recognise the focal length or aperture. Once you've set the focal length in the menu, the camera only recognises the focal length, not aperture, in the EXIF in review mode. I don't have an X-E2, but I'm sure the menu option is the same as the X-Pro1 which I use with a number of adaptors for my Leica and other manual lenses. In the menu you have to manually set the focal length that you're using, and then remember to do this every time you mount the adaptor. There are 6 focal lengths in the menu, 4 are pre-set and then 2 which you can customise. The focal length which you set will then show up in the EXIF. -
You're going to love the M9! I've been a Leica user since 1976 having started off with an M3 and then owned and used all the M cameras (except M5) up to the M9 & Monochrom, all of which I still have. I've taken some of my best images with the M9 and still take it out from time to time. The M240 didn't interest me at all. I started moving to Fuji last year as my eyesight started to deteriorate, making it more difficult to focus with the rangefinder and found I was missing too many shots. Two issues to be aware of with the M9 which are related to the sensor: 1. sensor corrosion issue, where the cover glass on the sensor delaminates. 2. sensor cracking. I encountered sensor corrosion issues with both of my M9s and the Monochrom sensor which both corroded and cracked. The good news is that Leica will repair these free of charge irrespective of the age of the camera. Leica replaced the sensors on all 3 of my cameras FOC. It may not necessarily happen with your M9 and I'm really not trying to dampen your spirits, however it's just something to be aware of. This is what it looks like:

Camera doesn't shoot
Mike K replied to lleo's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
Have you activated the "Shoot without lens" option in the camera menu? The camera will not recognise any attached 3rd party adapter if this function is not activated, and the camera will not shoot. -
I agree with Warwick's view. I recently spent 3 days in Paris with the X-Pro1 as well as the X100T. The weather wasn't great, used both cameras, but found that on busy streets, crowded places and going out at night, the X100T was more convenient to use. With the lens hood removed, easy to fit into my coat pocket. I'm waiting to shortly receive my X-Pro2 and will be keeping the X100T as well, which in any event my wife's recently hijacked......

Just rechecked on Amazon this PM, they now show no more stock and availability from 7th March. -
I was aware that there was no FW update for the X-Pro1, and I was on the lookout for any issues. There's nothing yet that I've noticed. Aperture works well & is displayed in the EVF. EXIF information is displayed on image playback. I'll keep looking out for any issues and report back if any. Best, Mike

I ordered the new Fuji 100-400mm from Amazon DE last Friday and it was delivered this morning. It was a grey rainy day today, really not great for photography. In any event, I immediately mounted the lens on my X-Pro1 and tried a few random shots around here. Very briefly, my first impressions: Image quality is outstanding. Hand held at 1/15sec or 1/20sec is no problem, the OIS works beautifully, there's no motion blur, images are pin sharp. Auto focus is silent & relatively fast -I need to still try this on moving subjects. I'm doing a safari in Botswana in early April, it will be a good opportunity to test the lens properly. I've been waiting for this lens, so I could make a final decision on selling my Leica R APO 280mm f4. After a couple of hours of playing, the decision's been made, the Leica is going tomorrow... Images are all straight out of camera Jpegs no PP: #1- Hand held 1/15sec f5.6 ISO 200 @ 100mm

New Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Dilemma
Mike K replied to Fred4hp's topic in Fuji X Lenses
For wildlife photography I've been using the following manual lenses, all of which I've modified from their native mounts to Sony α mount for use on the Sony A7r.: 1. Carl Zeiss 300mm f2.8 Tele Apo Tessar -previously Contax /Yashica mount. 2. Leica R 280mm APO Telyt f4. 3. Leica R 105-280mm APO f4.2 Vario Elmar. In the process of moving across to Fuji, and just when I was telling myself I couldn't justify purchasing the Fuji 100-400mm, I decided to sell the 280mm Leica R APO Telyt f4 which is surplus to my needs and which is highly sought after. The 105-280mm Leica Vario Elmar is more versatile than the fixed 280mm and there's almost no difference in IQ. This morning I ordered the Fuji 100-400mm from Amazon.de Delivery is scheduled for Monday, I'll post some feedback next week.... -
Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing.
