Also, make sure you haven't enabled the electronic shutter: shutter setting should be MS only (not MS+ES, or ES).

I suggest always - ALWAYS - using the camera in Boost mode (whether you've got the grip fitted or not). The X-T2/X-Pro2 are both slow and jittery in Normal mode - and the X-H1 is even worse. I think "Normal mode" is a misnomer: it should be called something like "Battery-saving mode" or "Economy mode" instead. (I'm not saying this is the answer to the problems you've described, but using Normal mode won't have helped.) Hope you get it sorted soon - good luck!

I wanted to update the forum about my X-Pro 2.

Received my camera from Fujifilm, May 29, after they replaced the power board. Tested the camera for a couple hours, with no issues. Here's what I noticed while operating the camera. The diopter  dial was installed backwards. This was disappointing after being excited about getting my camera back and looking forward to getting out with it. Called Fujifilm and they said to send it back and they'd pay for it to be shipped FedEx ground. Dropped it off May, 30 and it just arrived in NJ, but not at the Fujifilm Repair Dept. location as of yet.

So from May 14, until now, June 14, I've only had my new X-Pro 2 in my hands for one day. Dissapointed...

Thanks dfaye for your comments. Boy, that was some bad luck with your lens.
Out of the many lenses and cameras Fujifilm sells, you'll have a few with issues.
Anyways, looking forward to May 29 when my X-Pro 2 arrives.
Will get back after a couple days of using the camera. Should be fine...

Follow up about my Fuji X-Pro 2 / Camera or Battery Issue.

Received an email from FUJIFILM NJ, May 23, that my X-Pro 2 had been shipped.
Called Fujifilm, NJ today to find out what they did. Spoke with someone in technical support
and he told me they replaced the power board because there was a bad component on it.

I'm happy with the turn around.
Sent the camera, May 14, USPS Priority Mail and it's now being shipped back FedEx, arriving May 29.

Looking forward to receiving it and checking it out. Unfortunate circumstances for a new camera.

I'm looking at the X-H1 in a completely different light than anyone else, I think; I'm mating the body with small, lightweight, manual focus lenses and so far I think it's working. Yes, the camera has some heft but it feels right for the purpose the camera was designed for, as do all the Fuji X cams; they've found a great balance of sturdiness while still being a hell of a lot less weighty than a DSLR. It's quite a magic trick and my hat's off to the Fuji designers.

I love my X-Pro 2 as well. Leica who?

Yes, I'm rather concerned about this, Mike G. The numbers on the dealers' websites don't seem to be going down much, either. I guess you're right about the 8 -16mm probably being launched at the same time as another new camera (like the X-T3!). I hadn't thought this through, but it would fit with past patterns. (Sigh...) - decision time!

That also was my intention but noting that there seems to be a glut of X-T2s around I decided to cut and run before the glut turns into a torrent! Trusting that any new cameras may be announced at the same time as the 8-16mm f2.8! so that may not be the right time to sell or PX what will be yesterday’s model albeit a very good yesterday’s model!

Now several weeks into the X-H1:

    The Good!
This new body seems to fit my quite small male hands superbly.
The new rounded buttons are much easier to use compared to the X-T2 flat buttons.
Faster AF even using the FX 35mm 1.4, other lenses also benefit from the improved algorithm.
The improved card hatch and connector hatch are an improvement.
I perceive a small improvement in image quality.
The output equals or betters the X-T2
Also I see the LCD as being sharp as a tack.
The EVF is great the detail is super.
The menus are familiar but encompass the new facilities.
The whole experience of the camera seems slicker and quicker.
An almost silent shutter noise is very good.
The X-H1 in my eyes is an evolution of the X-T2, which in my mind is better than a revolution.
The body feels a lot more robust, time will tell if the finish is as equally robust?
Of course all your lenses and most bits fit.
    IBIS because it doesn’t intrude.

    Not so good.
The extra 5 ozs of weight.
    Battery life.
Apparent feature of the normal mode LCD & EVF where the refresh rate slows down.(I think this is a bug and not a feature)
    Boot up a tad slower.

According to my list the pros outweigh the cons by a fair margin. Another reassuring feature is that Fuji will tweak and improve the camera in the same way that they have done to their other photo products!

Old thread I know but something I have found with the 35mm F1.4 is more than any other Fuji lens it really rewards the mash the shutter button technique, (remember to set to focus priority in sub menu), if you half press it hunts and then by the time you have hit the shutter things have moved, If you just mash shutter in S_AF soon as it acquires focus it fires and I have found accuracy is actually better with this method. Interestingly as well on the X-H1 you get even more keepers with this method as the feather shutter introduces less of the jaring inherent in this technique and also has IBIS to further steady the ship. Oh and the 35mm is faster on the X-h1 anyway thanks to new AF algo's (coming to all the 3rd gen bodies in May.

Its good times to be a Fuji user, especially when my first ever lens I bought in the system after the kit (5 Years ago), is still getting better thanks to firmware updates in the bodies.

Well it seems there is a simple answer to this problem. You have to upload a copy of the receipt for your items. I was uploading files that were too big in size. Once i uploaded pdf's of around 200kb the system works. Why they don't tell you there is a maximum......

I went back (when will I ever learn not to fight with wonky websites!) and tried to add to my profile two items that are still within the warranty period (it already had a few items there, including the X-H1 that I registered on FujifilmXWorld last month, but not the 80mm macro that I first registered in January or my X100F that I'd registered late last year). At first it appeared to let me add these two items on the registration page and upload the pdf proof of purchase, but when I hit the green button to enter the new information I got the white screen. And, yes, the info hasn't been registered. I'm assuming this is because these items had already been registered on the old FujifilmXWorld site - but if it's stopping people register newly-bought gear, that's crazy.

In legal terms, though, I believe the warranty has to be honoured as long as one has valid proof of purchase to prove the gear is within the warranty period, irrespective of whether it has been registered on Fuji's website. It's not as if Fuji are offering anything over and above what the law already provides for.

dfaye, yes I agree, please note Connect is asking you to post a proof of purchase when you register an item!

Some of my gear was already there and I registered a few more but it won’t let me register my 1.4 & 2 TCs annoyingly it’s not telling me why!

I had a similar email (I'm also in the UK). Mine had a link in it to set a password for the new Connect site. I hit the link, set a password and - the screen went blank. It must be a glitch. I closed the screen, went to the main FujifilmConnect site and found that I had in fact been logged in. My profile page was pretty bare: they hadn't carried over any information except my name and the last few items I'd registered for warranty. I'm interested to hear, Mike G, that it won't allow you to register all your stuff - so I won't even try! I have, however, gone to the old FujifilmXWorld site and printed off my full equipment list for safekeeping before they close that down. It's useful to have all the purchase dates and serial numbers in one place. Let's hope that the new site does eventually turn out to be an improvement!

For an actual "Lock," you need to keep the button pressed down. If you let up, AF simply stops, leaving the lens focused wherever it's focused, but focus is unlocked so you can manually focus if you want.

Be aware that if you're using AF-C, "wherever it's focused" is quite possibly not at the distance you want it to be focused, especially if the camera is using contrast-detect AF.

My advice for BBF: don't use it -- unless you really need to -- on Fuji (and possibly other mirrorless cameras). Contrast-detect auto-focus causes complications that don't affect DSLRs. Also... on a DSLR, the viewfinder, autofocus, metering, and image capture are four separate subsystems. In a mirrorless, they're all run off of the imaging sensor, and the camera generally prefers that everything be controlled by the shutter release button to make it simpler to control the sensor configuration.

I agree entirely, Mike G. At the moment the only way to turn this "feature" off is to put the camera into Boost mode. This is fine on the X-T2, X-Pro2, X100F etc (which also share this "feature"), but leaving the X-H1 in Boost mode drains the battery very quickly indeed.

Interestingly, the feature is described (although rather vaguely) in the manual for the X-Pro2, which is where I first learned about it, but there is no mention whatsoever in the manuals for the X-T2 or X-H1. Not helpful, Fuji!

(Minor irritations aside, though, I'm loving the X-H1.)

An annoying feature of the new wonder machine is “Power Saving Mode” in that when using the LCD or EVF in normal mode after about 10-15 seconds of viewing but otherwise inactivity, the EVF and LCD go into power saving mode and the refresh rate is halved and the view becomes a bit jittery and jerky as the screens then struggle to keep the smoothness of the usual operation! Press a the shutter halfway or the back focus button and the smooth operation returns for a short while

Apparently this is a feature not a fault as Fuji UK support informed me! also this feature happens on the X-T2 as well, this phenomenon doesn’t happen in boost mode. Fuji UK promised to pass on my comments to Japan. I never noticed this on my X-T2!

Hopefully a firmware update will give the opportunity to switch this feature off.
