the public’s response against fuji not upgrading the X-E2 was the most unexpected by-product of the Kaizen Marketing and the time is taking to show any real Kaizen-E-2 ( the Windows 10 upgrade doesn’t count) shows how surprised they have been by this. Come December we will know what Fuji-Santa has for the X-E2. As for now, nobody knows.

Future of Fuji (or mirrorless) AF performance
milandro replied to FearTheXNoob's topic in General Discussion
I love this fanta-threads! How would anyone know what the exact future of the AF function of Fujifilm cameras would be? We can only speculate that it will improve ( by how much would depend on many things) since it is the most talked about limitation of the Fuji cameras along with their lesser video capability. Will they ever match a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera autofocus performance? Probably. Ho long will it take? Tough one. How long is a piece of string? That long! So my guesstimate is that we will know when we get there, in fact, because this is a rumors forum, we will know it beforehand. -
The lensmate and any exact copy won’t have the same problem as that one because it actually has another contact point, on the camera body, but yes be careful with anything since your camera can fall off the tripod and be smashed! Does that mean we don’t have to use tripods? No, it means that you need to take care when you do. Crossing the road is dangerous, you might die... yet we do it all the time!

Cheers, both look exactly the same as mine (I haver both) but then why my stock one didn’t fall off and was actually difficult to take off? Fuji-Mystery!

It’s night in Tokio, they are generally very responsive and mostly very co-operative.

You should definitely contact their main office and make your case, as it happened already before with another forum member from Bulgaria ( I don’t know your location) he was first refused the repair unless he paid, then after contacting the Fuji main office it was all cleared and the Bulgarian importer budged into “ we are going to repair your camera free of charge" Here you can contact the head office in Tokio. https://contact.fujifilm.com/cgi-bin/mail/form.cgi/contact_tokyo_headquarters?_ga=1.225719197.665361477.1432290617 Maybe I should apply for the job of Fujifilm Ombudsman? I am doing a lot of complaint administration for them on this forum already they seem to need someone in this capacity and I could use a new job!

Shame!... but not for the reason that I ( or anyone else) would need a wider selection of lenses available than there are already or that Fuji will be able to provide in time, the reason why this is a shame is that competition makes people be all that little more alert when it is there than when there isn’t any. I think that Zeiss is not particularly eager to provide us with any more product since they have not followed up with any other lenses yet ( and whatever they provided wasn’t shockingly better and in some cases was worse than what Fuji gave us) and the only competition is coming from non autofocus or otherwise automatic lenses which of course miss a very important selling point. There would have been certainly some market niche to be filled. Fuji has been extremely reluctant to provide mirrorless users with long lenses, zooms or otherwise. Now, those lenses are precisely the ones which would be benefiting of autofocus and automatisms the most. Wideangles with autofocus are not precisely a necessity, but good autofocus long lenses are. This, coupled to an even better autofocus and tracking which some people are screaming for (not me but that’s irrelevant) would have been a very nice market for Sigma. As for Fuji having made a “ mistake” in having developed their own bayonet to keep competitors away, I am sure that “ Mr. Fuji” thinks otherwise!

yes, but this is a weather resistant lens and one of its most important selling points would be precisely to be impervious, throughout all its life not the first few days, to things like this. Whatever it might be that you did with it, unless you went through a sandstorm which would have left a lot more scars outside than a few specs of dust inside, should have been well within the criteria which make this lens a WR one! You know, customers aren’t “ always right” but that doesn’t mean that they are always wrong by default. You have a lens in your possession which should have never had this in the first place and there is one of two things at play. 1) the specs of dust were there before the lens was sold to you. Not your fault. 2) the specs of dust made it into a WR lens which is supposed to be impervious to water and dust. Not your fault.
-
This is one of the several other threads where people have signaled dust inside the lenses. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/450-love-your-fujifilm-lenses-keep-away-from-dust/ I had bought a 10-24 a year ago and the first copy ad some dust of specs of something inside the lens as it came out the unopened box! Yet, not being a weather resistant lens ( WR) and a zoom this could have happened when the lend was tested after been put together (although one would hope that this happens in a dust free environment!). This is absolutely unacceptable in a WR lens. I would have it replaced. They replaced mine although I was well within the legal respite period.

Fittest MZ-005, Alternative Thumb’s grip for X-T1
milandro replied to milandro's topic in Other Fuji X Accessories
I understand your concerns Yet. Some other thoughts. At the same time as this, on ebay appeared also some X-T10 models. These would need to be smaller than the ones for the X-T1 because that camera is smaller. I know the Chinese attitude to publish photographs from other brands, or other types ( been there done that). So it is very possible that this that we are seeing is in fact a new contraption made for the X-T10 and unwittingly marketed also for the X-T1. However , one thing is , in my view, for sure, the Lensmate is not the product of an high technology, whichever way one looks at it. As such can be replicated. Maybe this is not the one, but ooner or later someone will. -
easy thing to do, done the same ( and it costed a lot of ingenuity to do that) with the 60mm which has now a small lens hood.

apparently not

Fittest MZ-005, Alternative Thumb’s grip for X-T1
milandro replied to milandro's topic in Other Fuji X Accessories
well, one day someone will buy it and take a picture “ in situ” , then we will know. If we have to believe that this is their product ( and not a retouched picture of a lensmate) it fits... -
this and the many other stories shows a behavior which is extremely erratic if completely stochastic, yet there has to be some reason why this happens to some and it doesn’t affect others. Perhaps we should record serial numbers of the affected camera and see if they belong to a certain batch.

It’s really incredible what you can find for sale on line! This is a rotating “ boom” to fit onto an helmet to wear on a bike and shoot yourself and or the place you are driving around with a Go-pro. Even supposing that you are not going to be immediately stopped by the Police in any civilized place on earth read what they say. Due to its safety design, it will automatically drop from your helmet when you have incident. And there will be 0 damage to this device. to the device maybe not........But not to you! I suppose that they wanted to say IF you have an accident but they may have written when because it is almost certain, that if you use one of this in an open road with traffic that you will have one!

As I was scouring the ebay to search for a cheap dedicated thumb grip for the X-T1 ( they are just starting to appear), I came across this contraption by a Thai seller, a wooden thumb grip and soft release button. Very creative, I had a look whether they were also selling an L bracket made of the same material for my X-T1, would have been very fetching, but unfortunately couldn’t find it, however there is certainly some scope for improvement there. Thai people are very creative with their woods. I have seen saxophones ( playing horribly) but functional and entirely made of wood. I really like all manner of nice accessories to make your camera different and stand out (I have already made clear my aversion to any attempts to achieve camouflage by means of gaffer tape or any such things) and especially if and when they aren’t too expensive. The only perplexity is whether this wood can enter any country in the world or there are restrictions for it

Since we don’t know whether the rubberized surfaces are made in China , and don’t even know why they bulge and come loose I think that making these assumptions is a guess.

never mind, I’ve solved the problem on my own and for the benefit of others I will add here my findings. I didn’t have too much time to use the adapter after buying it and there was something that was bothering me a bit. Even tightening it well, there was still a little “ wiggle” of the lens after everything was the way it was supposed to. At first I thought it was a problem which I had and addressed and resolved with the help of Kipon staff. If you by mistake screw this off completely you need to reassemble it by aligning the studs of the front section to the hoses of the back section. Having done this, you then tighten the front to the back sections with the screw in ring making sure that the studs stay in the holes. If you don’t do that the adapter will never lock. But mine was locking and still there was a minute wiggle. I had written the original owner who told me that this was normal but I wasn’t convinced. So, I took a look at the adapter again. Those 4 screws, they attach the M42 ring to the adapter and probably any version of the adapter has a different ring allowing the proper lenses to be fitted to the adapter. I screwed those off. Under that there are 4 more screws and they were a little loose. Tightened those... et voilà ! Everything as tight as a drum.

QED ( quod erat demonstrandum ) , Optical Image Stabilizer, LCD ( Liquid Crystal Display....it was asked before) ......all staff that one takes for granted but isn’t necessarily. -
Definitely, more choice is freedom, although it produces more expensive lenses because it dilutes the market. If they would really introduce the 35mm f1 we would be really spoiled for choice and even then there would be someone who would ask for the 35mm with “ N’ number of blades that Fuji hasn’t yet thought of and probably will never produce. Some like it hot, some cold, some rare, some well done. I like the look of the new lens and if the optical results would be at par I would certainly consider a silver version (I have a certain penchant for the silver finish).
