Limiting the use of acronyms to a minimum
milandro replied to milandro's topic in General Discussion
if anyone would be so kind as to read this https://books.google...cronyms&f=false that is precisely how the acronym etiquette works. -
then you haven’t read of ALL the other people to whom this has happened. Do that , before you say something like that. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/634-x-t1-accessory-door/ http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/996-fuji-x-t1-rubber-surface/ http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/1001-unsticking-skin-of-x-pro1/

bubbles, bubbles......... visible only with lots of light points, reflecting or originating light, in the Bokeh-ed ( where the image is not sharp) part of the image. New version of a classic. I have bought ( and un fortunately, sold... I could have made a few bobs now! ) a similar version of this lens many years ago and back then it was a cheap lens ( was old by the time I got it) now you will have to pay €1500 for the privilege of owning a triplet lens made from one of the oldest optical projects in the world. Incredible! Of course this is going to make the (many) old lenses still around jump up in price even more than they already have in recent times. Funny how lenses that were worth next to nothing just a few years ago are now causing a stir among buyers. This morning, as the news hit the world of the launch of this expensive "new “ lens, ads hit the internet asking for the old one. Just a coincidence?

Limiting the use of acronyms to a minimum
milandro replied to milandro's topic in General Discussion
This are precisely my feelings and I am sure they are widely shared by the acronyms victims anywhere. It simply means: " I am in the know......can’t you tell it by the way I write? " The use of acronyms is poor form as it is the use of “ SMS English” ( writiN DIS way iz a shO off) we could provide people with dictionaries, vademecum and translators but the best is simply to be clear takes little effort and shows respect for others. Read this https://books.google.nl/books?id=2FRz-4vT1vUC&pg=PA52&lpg=PA52&dq=against+the+use+of+acronyms&source=bl&ots=wRzLzQwh5Z&sig=S3FsScTtXYBngfEaMN4k9hZmHUQ&hl=it&sa=X&ved=0CD8Q6AEwBGoVChMIl-mgwdSgyAIVwlRyCh2aIw0O#v=onepage&q=against%20the%20use%20of%20acronyms&f=false -
Limiting the use of acronyms to a minimum

you are misinterpreting, again, the purpose of this thread. I think I made it very clear. I didn’t start this thread with the intent to discuss search engines. -
Limiting the use of acronyms to a minimum
milandro replied to milandro's topic in General Discussion
You missed the point of the thread completely. This is NOT about the search engine , that one is an extra complication that I’ve mentioned to make my point, it is about using a language that is comprehensible. The use of acronyms is not a good habit. My post is NOT about not being able to search is about not understanding what you are talking about! -
Limiting the use of acronyms to a minimum
milandro replied to milandro's topic in General Discussion
Cheers @cale33! I don’t even think it is a matter of being a professional in fact, quite the opposite, most of the fora dwellers are not professional! It is just an habit. Any large company suffers the same problem, people get emails that they don’t understand because the sender assumes the acronym is commonplace while it isn’t. -
This is an appeal to the members for a merciful and limited use of acronyms. While some terms might look obvious to the more frequent camera forum goers, the term might be obscure or totally unknown for others. Since the purpose of a forum is communicating with others who might not be aware of the meaning of the many acronyms, please, spell things out. Remember that the current version of the search engine doesn’t even allow searching too short a word and that includes ANY 3 letter word, if you do, even for something as stupid and obvious as LCD you get this One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. So this would be another reason to spell things out please!

the extra safety offered by the locking anything has to be offset by the awkwardness of unlocking things before operating them. In my view one should have all things that aren’t likely to be used often ( and that’s way easily forgotten and/or overlooked), lockable, while things that are likely to be used often not locked but simply a little more resistant to being operated by mistake or chance. However how would anyone please everyone with this? Some people will like it, some won’t, whatever they chose to do and making everything lockable will be an expensive overkill. I hate that the dioptric correction is not locked firmly in place and mine moves often a little bit out of “ focus” after I’ve set it on my ideal correction, and while I don’t like that others might not care or ever have even noticed. What’s important for one it not important for the other.

yes, one of the worst things that internet has brought about is the fact that people substitute hearsay ( before it was “ I’ve heard it on the news” now it is “ I’ve read it on the internet “ ....it must be true) to personal experience. So the internet says the 60mm is slow ( it is) and because of this being ’slow" some people declare it unusable ...so a whole lot of people who have never used it ( despite the fact that few would ever need the “ speed” which this lens lacks!) discard it. I paid €600 for this lens when I bought it and next to it there was the 56mm for €1000. I decided to save the difference. If I would have bought it second hand from some of the people who sold it because they read on the internet that this lens was unusable I would have saved even more!) I have tried both and considered the fact that I would have used it mostly for portraits and close up photography ( another myth is that this lens wouldn’t be classed as “ macro” because it only reaches 1:2 ratio which is nonsense since plenty of “ legacy" macro lenses got to 1:2 and not to 1:1 or higher !) and that the 60mm is a lot small and lighter than the 56mm ( let alone stealthier, people put gaffer tape on the camera to not shout “ pro camera here!” but then they go around with a huge pice of glass hoping they are not noticed?). I am sure that some people would prefer, on merits after using both, not on hearsay, the 56mm but some who have never tried both they simply don’t know what they are talking about.

well, I suppose in the beginning they were in denial ( and perhaps didn’t expect this to be a factory fault) but by now they should have come to their senses and realized this is NOT of any user’s doing, there are simply too many cameras showing this all over the world. If I were you I would get in touch with the head office in Japan and providing evidence which they have to be aware of ( the invoice for a repair that was cause by a camera defect) ask for a refund of the money that you’ve paid. Get in touch with your Canadian consumer association and see if they are prepared to press on for you (even if you are not a member). http://www.consumer.ca See if a TV program is interested in your story and bring this to the attention of others.

Nothing. This is a manufacture defect. http://www.consumentenbond.nl/juridisch-advies/juridische-hulp/garantie/buiten-garantietermijn/

No offense taken, just clearing where I stand on the way I wish to communicate with people here and henceforth. I don’t think we need to be formal, but I wouldn’t think to call people here, pal, dude, mate or, indeed silly. We are all members of the same forum but we are not otherwise acquainted after all.
-
the more publicity this problem gets the more unlikely it will be that the local Fuji can deny responsibility. Since this is not yet affecting all the cameras it is still possible for them to blame individuals but it has become clear that this is not just a bad batch of glue affecting only a limited amount of cameras.

"You are right - and thanks a lot for taking care.........If you refer to me:" No Andreas, I did’t refer to you... I just said because obviously I have had only positive intents in this whole story, but got flack, not from you, for inviting everyone to use caution. Keep up the good work.

I wasn’t trying to measure who projects the content of his bladder the furthest. All I ever said is be careful. I was the one who alerted publicly the management about the first and second attack. No good deed goes unpunished, obviously.

I have been a member for 8 years on sax on the web, spam has been always a very occasional occurrence and we haven’t had much of that at all never seen anything like what we saw here, ever. Another and less pleasant occurrence was caused by people trying to log in with members identity. The system there blocks that IP after 5 wrong attempts. We suspect some wrong doing but haven’t been able to avoid that. Also another problem arose when Tapatalk, which, without the knowledge of the forum owner, got hold of the email addresses of the members and sent the members ( most of whom never used tapatalk) an email which appeared to come from the forum. There are many aspects to security. Relaxing is certainly a good but not necessarily always the best strategy. Better safe than sorry.

I have read it and contributed to the question with my answer to the poll. How much? Yet, immediately, this thread degenerated in one of the so many fantasy league threads. Fuji should do this that or, and why not?... Especially the other! Maybe you haven’t seen those posts? To answer your obvious question with an obvious answer.,.. When will we get the results to the most popular question? You know, as in ...ask an ” obvious” question get an “obvious” answer. When the camera will hit the market. I never thought of myself as silly though, so, because I suppose you don’t do that too I won’t treat you as one ( I wrote “ obvious" whereas it could have been writing “ silly") ... I would much prefer if in future you won’t call me that.
-
No but reading the incredibly varied “ requests” any time a fantasy thread is started and especially the “ votes” for this that or the other make smile if not laugh. This camera, if it exists, has been at least 3 years in the pipeline before arriving to the customers. Industrial production is not a democracy.
-
in several threads people told us that they are getting this repaired by fuji. In some cases , at first local fuji was not responsive and wanted to charge for it, but after complaining with the head office they were nudged into a more customer’s friendly behavior. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/634-x-t1-accessory-door/page-4

the management is working to fix this http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/1397-forum-under-spam-attack/

...and here we go again, second attack today. Just started. I am on a saxophone forum for 8 years and I’ve never witnessed anything like this. Thanks for the good work that you do but these people seem to have found a way around.

I understand that but perhaps I am not succeeding in communicating that, despite what is or what is not, it creates a perception problem. That is more damaging that the real damage they could provide.
-
I understand that you are facing a difficult task. I wasn’t suggesting that you are alone in this, but you understand that whether the vault is closed somewhere else, seeing that the door was broken in doesn’t look good from where I am sitting.
