Burst mode with flash is a breath of fresh air. Sincerely hoping it comes to X100T soon.

One bit of weirdness: when firing a continuous burst with flash, my viewfinder goes black after each shot except the last — the last one shows the image review as expected.

Weirdly, that behavior occurs even if I turn image review off. Has anyone else noticed that?

I have a question

Upon download on my Imac, two files with the same name were downloaded, I found this strange, that’s why I did it twice to make sure I didn’t press by mistake the mouse twice.

Second time the same thing happened.

The files appear identical and have the same name

FWUP0005.DAT

the second file receives the number 2 ( this is done by the computer automatically when downloading a copy of the same file you already have somewhere)

It is my understanding that uploading the second one ( with the 2 in the name) might be giving problems.

Before I do anything silly, I am waiting for the rest to tell me what they have downloaded and how they dealt with it.

Got it too, could be a webpage error when requesting a download link, the system provide your browser with twice the same file.

That can happens sometimes, nothing really dramatic about it.

If for whatever reasons you want to get maniac with it, check the hash files and compare both values, it will be the same.

I am not manic and, whilst aware that it probably is only a download bug,I have nevertheless shared my concerns with the community and gave a fair  and early warning here to my fellow members.

The warning is in its place because if one attempts to upload the file with the wrong name the camera might not recognize it and problems might arise from that.

I am always airing on the safe side, and, since there is no hurry to install a new software on a working camera, always better to be safe first rather than be sorry afterwards.

Can't believe it's such a mess!
MF/S/C on bodies, clutch mecanism on some lenses, MF+AF on menus, AF on back button, etc... and X-bodies with different firmwares (xe2, xt1, x100s)...

so confusing....

Well, i'd like to have 3 things :
- AF can be memorized with back button (AF-L) with the ability to press shutter without re-autofocusing
- AF on shutter button
- Manual focus with ring. That clutch mecanism drives me nuts..

Anybody can help ? thanks

Whatever one does ( in anything) there will always be some who likes it and some who don’t.

Fuji gives you something which they thought it would please some people but even them, though tightly enveloped in their Japanese world of courtesy and Kaizen, must know that they cannot please everyone all the time, but someone, sometimes.

Here the link to the explanations

1. AF can be memorized with back button (AF-L) with the ability to press shutter without re-autofocusing

Switch the camera to manual focus mode. You can now focus with the back button. If the lens has a clutch it must be in the forward position, and pull back for manual-only focus.

2. AF on shutter button

Switch the camera to auto focus mode.

3. - Manual focus with ring. That clutch mecanism drives me nuts..

You can auto focus with manual adjust by leaving the camera in auto focus mode, but having the clutch ring pulled back. Half press the shutter, and the camera will focus. Keep the shutter half-pressed and you can manual focus.(you need to have AF+MF turned on in Autofocus settings, as you observed).

I hope that helps.

Didi the upgrade. Verified that it is now 4.20. But either burst mode will not fire the flash. The option for Flash is greyed out in either burst mode as before. What have I done wrong?

Hi Tim.

I just updated my XT-1 and then tested this out. I put my shutter speed at 1/180, ISO at 1600, and attached my Yongnuo 560 III, switched the shutter mode from single to CH and fired off a few shots. The flash fired every time for me. Perhaps check your shutter speed to make sure you were at 1/180 or below?

Check whether the Shutter type is set to MS. It won't fire in MS+ES – which is weird, because I thought that was resolved in a previous firmware...

Milandro, I'm a Mac user too, and this has happened to me when I've forgotten to delete the previous FW updates out of my folder.  That could be the case here maybe??  Check the modification dates, sort by file name (with the file selected) and delete all the files with that name and re-download, would be my suggestion; but you may have already tried this.

No, this wasn’t and still isn’t the case.

There were no other files left from previous downloads and the same thing has happened to both Mac and Windows users as others have experienced.

I’ve checked it again repeating the procedure and this “ bug” is still there although I am sure that neither now, nor before, were there any previous files anywhere on my computer.

I have uploaded only the first ( without the 2 in the name) and the firmware was uploaded just fine. The bug is in the Fuji system, which, for some reason, contains two identical files, not in the users.

Gotcha.  Was worth a shot to bring it up since I've experienced it before.

I will try and update mine tonight and see if I experience the same issues.  I did update my Pro1 last night with no issues, so it might just be this download link that is having an issue, but I also know there are many who have successfully updated as well...

Maybe a different download link???

Other people experienced this too on different platforms. This isn’t even a platform dependent bug.

They did, and I did the same, chose one of the two identical files.

The only problem and reason for this heads up was that computers (both Mac and Windows OS ) when downloading two identical files at the same time give the second file a name change.

THIS name change could be causing the camera not to recognize the file.

If you only use the file without the name change your download will, for sure, work. Mine did.

I’ve used the camera already.

I downloaded it from the official Fuji site as in post # 1 of this thread. That is the same place where your link will bring you in the end anyway.

I personally never download any software from third parties if I can help it at all.

I discovered the same thing when I did my first FW update.  I had misplaced the file and had to download again.  However, like you and others, I was successful in using just the original file.

Glad your update worked out alright.

Good to point out that you must use the file that your camera will recognize as it won't recognize the file with the "(2)" and could potentially do major damage to the firmware.
