  1. Nice work! I'm really looking forward to learning more about this camera - seems like it would make a great everyday companion, especially on days I don't want to carry the xt1 and a few lenses.
  2. I thought I had read in Patrick's post on FR that the sensor for the X70 was expected to have an APS-C sensor, in which case I see this as potentially delivering X100T like quality in a slightly smaller package but with different handling characteristics. I guess we'll see soon. As a side note I just finished watching a doc on Vivian Maier on Amazon video and in it Joel Meyerowitz talks about how she used her Rolleiflex to get in really close to her subjects. He commented that because she was looking down at the camera and (supposedly) would not make eye contact that people probably would not be aware she was taking a photo. Interesting strategy and maybe that is an approach that would work with the (relatively) small X70 considering its FOV and lack of a viewfinder. I had been thinking about getting an X100T to go with my XT1 (and I may still do that) but now I'm mildly curious about the X70.
  3. Hi Tim. I just updated my XT-1 and then tested this out. I put my shutter speed at 1/180, ISO at 1600, and attached my Yongnuo 560 III, switched the shutter mode from single to CH and fired off a few shots. The flash fired every time for me. Perhaps check your shutter speed to make sure you were at 1/180 or below?
  4. My current travel setup is the XT1 with 18-135, 14, 35, and I just picked up the 27. On my last trip (Belgium & Netherlands) I mostly used the 18-135 and the 35 was my go to in museums and at night as well as the occasional portrait. I make a point of using the 14 a few times when I travel..great lens but I'm glad it's small as I couldn't justify lugging something larger around all day. I'm looking forward to using the 27 on my next trip as my go to for street photos as I've found the 18-135 is just too big and the 35 (for me) a touch too tight for those situations. Good luck with your choices and enjoy the trip! You're going to love Italy. The people, the sights, the landscape, the art, the food..all fantastic.
  5. I use a Canon 430 EX (not the II version) with my XT1 and it works fine - on camera or off..manual mode only of course.
  6. I just moved from an XE1 w/18-55 to an XT1 w/18-135. Also am using the 14 and 35mm Fuji lenses, with my primary photo interests being travel. I ended up keeping the 18-55 because I had some concerns with the size of the 18-135 and I just liked the 18-55 quite a bit so wasn't ready to let it go until I was sure the new lens would work for me. I just finished a trip to Belgium and the Netherlands where we had been expecting a fair bit of rain so that was the motivating factor for me to make the switch to the new setup. I did bring the 18-55 just in case I didn't like the 18-135 but as it turned out the 18-55 never made it out of the bag. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the build, flexibility, and quality of the shots and wasn't bothered too much with the size and weight. YMMV. Still not sure if/when I will sell the 18-55. I think I'll probably end up selling it and using the funds towards the 23 or 27mm. TBD.
