Hi and Welcome. Just some short thoughts:

    1. I don't care what other people think.
    2. Fujifilm managers said there will never be IBIS for the X-Mount. Stabilization in the body is called IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation), stabilization in the lens is called OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). Fuji's prime lenses are faster than the zooms, so the lack of OIS is compensated for a bit, but then the depth of field is shallower. Just select a faster shutter speed.
    3. The 18-55 is great. I don't like the cheaper 16-50, but others do.
    4. I have used 55 mm polarising filters on the 18-55 and they were vignetting-free, even at 18 mm. I think 52 won't be too bad. But you should use only one ring, don't stack multiple ones.
    5. I don't see why not, but what's wrong with the original one?
    6. The biggest filter thread is 77 mm right now, on the XF 100-400 and the XF 16-55.
    7. You don't have any automatic feature when attaching ANY other lens than a Fujinon or one of the three Zeiss Touits. Other than that, it's fine. So don't attach lenses that can't be controlled manually (focus, zoom, aperture).
    8. Fujinon wide angle lenses are distortion free, they are perfect rectilinear. The Samyang 12 mm has a slight barrel distortion, but it's less than 2% which is pretty impressive for a lens that wide, so you could call it rectilinear too. Why do you want distortion anyway?
    9. If the built in flash is not powerful enough, you could try the EF-X20. Or the Nissin i40.
    10. There is no comparison between the X-T10 + XF18-55 and the G4. Really.

I'm very happy with this one as well. Love the extra mm's compared to the 14mm although that one's better built.

The 12mm f2.0 ROKINON (Samyang) is the ideal lens for astro-photography.
With large open aperture and shutter speeds between 25-30 seconds at ISO 1600 you achieve great results.
I like the lens and bought it specially for the night and astrophotography.

ok, i clicked on your photo group with the 27mm and i dont know if im just having one of my rare weak moments, but browsing the pictures spurred a mix of emotions in me.. like tension releasing laughter with tears of joy (just in a slight manner) reading and studying the scene. it all has a sense of gentleness in it. i suspect the fine composition and scene selection by you is to be blamed too. maybe the lense is really boring as mc pite says up above, but then you are a hell of a good photographer to be able to transmit the moment of the photo to me like that. it may be the lense has a character too as someone else stated earlier. it made me even register on this forum before i got a fuji camera myself.. damn, i didnt plan for this at all! sorry for the rant.

To me the bokeh looks pretty good (for what it is) but it is a bit hard to achieve though. You have to photograph from pretty close and the blur isn't as extreme as for example with the 35 and 56mm. I wouldn't buy this lens for bokeh but for everything else

Edit: You can also see the "not so extreme bokeh" as a plus. Sometimes I even prefer it. At f/2.8 the aperture is fully open so the bokeh is smooth. When you'd shoot the 56mm f/1.2 at f/2.8 the highlights aren't as smooth because the aperture blades are closed a bit.

I have it and love it.  Attached to the X-E2 it makes everything very small to carry around and go unnoticed.

As for flare...put that with some fuji colors (velvia this time) you get something like this:

I think the recommendation is crystal clear: get the 90mm if you want the 90mm field of view, get a 35mm if you want the 35mm field of view. Pick one of the Fuji 35mm based on how they look like and what you read about them.

    Be happy afterwards.

I'm not used this lens so much since buyed two month ago and I'm mostly "vacation shooter with zooms". Anyway I tried to use it at last trip to Malta, so here are two shots taken at night, f/2.8 iso3200, with no time to positioning, composing etc. Just "on the way".

I've had chance to use this a few times now and must say my opinion has not changed, I really like using it and think it will be my go to lens for my X-E1.

If I am out on the street at night, I'll often open up the lens. I love the shallow depth of field look.

I am on my second XE-1, and see no reason to change.  I had an Xpro-1 as well, loved the build, etc.

But it did not seem as "lucky" for me.

    IMAGE BELOW:

This from a Canon 17-40L on an XE-1.  I wouldn't run it hand held, although it balanced great, I just prefer to futz with focus for what equated to a manual lens in this case, while parked squarely on a tripod for landscape stuff.

Wish I still had my Canon lenses-- but it meant keeping around a Canon body to change aperture before I docked the lenses on the Fuji.  FYI, the 17-40L from Canon actually is not all that well liked by the Canon crowd, I actually found it shot sharper on a FUJI.   What a hoot to shoot!

I had great success with a Canon nifty fifty and an 85mm prime too.

Adapted with a cheap Fotosay / Canon to Fuji X adapter. It was loose. It rattled. It was cheaply made.

    And I loved it.

I think it's more of a case of "what are you able do with it", vs. is the 27mm any good.

The '27' is easy to master and does not disappoint.
I wont say how "good" it is, or speak on the build, or the lens cap or the stinking box it came in, it's just an easy lens to get to know.  Like a cheap taco, it's just satisfying to use at a good price.

Those quick to poke at it with a stick maybe aren't patient with other Fuji lenses either. They may also be the crowd that thinks they need a full size sensor, and then find out those often have less pixel density than an M43 Olympus Pen.
"Mastering what you have" is typically a better initial practice then hopping around from lens to lens, blaming glass on one's ability, or "inability" to hit the metaphoric side of barn with 16 MP's of gamma...

Great conversation just the same. At least we all shoot Fuji, right?   You guys probably hate motorcycles,

    my humble apologies......

Some stray pot shots with an XE-1 (does anyone even shoot with those anymore?) and the crappy 27mm.

Horrible, complete lack of color saturation

Nearly no contrast at all, a bit bland.... snooze...

Rotten, worthless bokeh. You can't get bokeh from a 27, forget it.  It's crap. Good luck!

The pics without any feeling at all, flat, boring, very run of the mill "snaps" at best.

Very prone to blowing out the whites, (whoops!) worthless!

It's not capable of finding focus with both hands and a flashlight.
Especially running around with no flash at an indoor event. Forget it. Just stay home. Buy a Canon!

As a 'beater" lens, it's ok, but no better than an iPhone 4.
Maybe good enough so you remember where some of the big parts go... but that's it. Not a good lens for anything "expressive",

    everything pretty flat, bla-meh....

    Hi

Last weekend  I had a chance to take a few pictures of the qualification and trial runs during the Red Bull Crashed Ice event in Québec City (Canada).
Shot in raw, PP in LR 6.3, Sharpenning and Noise Reduction with Nik's Sharpener and Dfine

Here are the settings on my X-T1...

High Performance Mode is On, (obviously!),
    Pre AF is On,
AF-Mode was on Zone, 5 x 3 Zone, and only the central PDAF points were used,
Release /Focus Priority is set to Focus (both for Af-S and Af-C),
    Face detection = Off
    Eye detection = Off
    Shutter on MS only.
AF is on Continuous and the Drive Mode is on CH (8fps),
    OIS = off,
Shooting RAW only with a 300mb/sec 64gb SD UHS II, no problems with the buffer

I know it's not easy. I'll make the start.

My personal favorite image of 2015 has been taken at the abandoned Casino at the Bokor Mountain, Cambodia.

I noticed some kids, who were playing hide and seek inside the Casino. One kid hide behind the wall, and I knew that sooner or later he will look down the stairs to see if his friends are coming... so I just was there, framed the image, exposed it... and waited. And then the kid came out... click... I got it

If you are viewing the LCD before taking the photo and it is appearing black, you are looking at what the image would look like if you took the photo with the current setting. It does not account for the light contributed by the flash. To disable this feature go to the Setup menu page 1 and choose Screen Setup then set Preview exp in manual mode to OFF.

If you are previewing the LCD after taking the photo, the manual setting you picked underexposes the image severely. Increase the ISO, use slower shutter speed, move the flash closer to the subject  or increase the output of the flash.

well, abrasive material covers just about anything solid but how could “ abrasive material” in nature not be “ sand” of some sort.

I wouldn’t just let this go after all this is not a normal thing to happen to anyone who wasn’t in a sandstorm.

I would get in touch with the head office in Japan and demand explanations.
If you don’t ask you don’t get, other ones asked and got thing they didn’t expect to get.
