I traded in my X-T1 and X-T2 for an X-T3. Really happy. focus is much faster. Still love the small APS-C sized camera after shooting Nikons professionally for 30 years. The weight difference is minor.

Just purchased the X-H1 this week myself and have been playing with the Fuji 80mm macro. Not cheap but pix are glorious.

X-H1 Raw files - need new software
sgmcenroe replied to deva's topic in Fuji X-H1 / Fuji X-H2s / Fuji X-H2
I recently purchased Luminar and use it as a plug-in in LR, but it could easily serve as a LR substitute . Very capable and about $60 on sale. Check it out. I also purchased their HDR program Aurora. They are both produced by Skylum. -
GAOPA - the reset worked! Thanks so much for the suggestion. Of course, now I have to go reset all my settings!

Anybody else have this problem? The card slot #1 in my X-T2 has ceased to record or show images. With cards in both slots, it only records to the #2 slot, bypassing #1. While this is sort of livable, using only the #2 card slot, it appears that the camera must read updates, like the new 4.0, from the #1 slot only. I tried the #2 slot and the camera said it couldn't find a card in slot #1. Anybody heard of this problem before. Has anybody had Fuji repair it and how much might that cost. I am off to Africa in 3 months and was hoping to have the camera working properly. It also makes me wonder if my #2 slot might fail soon.

Transition from DSLR to XT 1 help/advice
sgmcenroe replied to Davy Crockett's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
I seldom go Full Auto. I will go shutter preferred or aperature preferred depending on the situation. Shooting sports and wildlife - I set for the fastest shutter speed and workable ISO and let the camera worry about the aperature. Shooting portraits, flowers, etc., I set the aperture for the specific scene and DOF I want and use the ISO again to get a workable shutter speed. Get off full auto and be willing to work your camera more. -
jlmphotos - read closer - going to Europe IN five months. Not FOR. Now it is only a month away. Going to Tuscany, Umbria and Rome for about 3 weeks is all. Going to leave the battery pack at home but take the extra batteries. Don't plan on shooting any action soccer photos and the weight reduction will be a plus.

If you are on a once in a lifetime trip, carry 2 bodies if you have them. While in Turkey, I dropped my X100, ended up shooting half the trip with a little Olympus point and shoot I had as a backup. I am going to Italy soon - with an XT2 and an XE2. A pro doesn't shoot a wedding with only one camera for the same reason.

I recently got my new X-T2 from Adorama and it came with a Corel suite. I have uploaded the Corel Video Studio 9, though at one point it asks what "Video Standard" do I use, with two options. I clicked on the simplest one which was NTSB or something like that. Does anyone know what standard the camera actually uses? Couldn't find anything in the owner's manual.

If you order a lens in the bundle as well, you get an additional $100 off. I have wanted, and now ordered, the 23mm f2, so I essentially got the camera and booster grip for the price of the camera alone + the price of a lens I wanted. I am happy. Just hope they get more stock in from Fuji soon.
-
believe it or not, the back order worked out for me. Because of their similar shapes, I clicked on the 35mm f2 lens to go with my package instead of the new 23mm f2 I actually wanted. I already have the 35 f1.4. So I got the entire order canceled successfully and will reorder it correctly.

Just got notified that the X-T2 body is backordered. Even though, online, it says "in stock and ready to be shipped."

I have been waiting for the X-T2 to go on sale as I am going to Italy in May. I always planned to get the booster grip eventually as well, because I enjoy wildlife and sports photography. The sale now going on (I went to Adorama) was great, giving me a savings of $230 on the combo, but they also offered an extra $100 off on any lens with the purchase, which gave me the opportunity to get the new 23mm at a true bargain price as well - plus Adorama threw in a bunch of little extras like a cleaning kit, the Corel suite, a super fast card, etc. Don't know how long it will last. It was still in stock when I ordered, though a similar package was out of stock at B&H. If you have been waiting, now is the time.

Nick05 - my thoughts exactly. I saw the soon to be special pricing on the X-T2 and grip and I am going that way too. I am going to Europe in 5 months and was hoping that the X-T2 would go on sale before then. I am sort of surprised that it went on sale this early, as it still seems to sell out immediately when a store gets them in.

Sorry guys. I love the look but I won't be paying an extra $200 to get it.

A covert bag for traveling in cities
sgmcenroe replied to ajurjans's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
Check out the Think Tank Retrospective series - probably the #5 or #7. They also come in a leather version now which might look even more "messenger baggie." -
That is close to my bag - though I sold my 18-55 when I sold my XE1 to a friend. I replaced it with the 35 1.4. I also have the 100-400 + 1.4x TC, cause I live in the Black Hills of SD in a wildlife hot spot and I really needed the reach.

Newbie X-T1 owner, what do I need to take close macro shots?
sgmcenroe replied to whc's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
I have something called a Sigma "Lifesize" screw-on filter (I do not know where I got it or when.) I came across it in my bag last year and it fits my XF35 1.4 perfectly and gives amazing results. Check out this shot of a little chameleon I took just this past weekend. The lizard is only 4-5 inches long in total. -
Nick05 - I got to chase my first egrets and alligators a year ago on a trip to Louisiana. That was a whole lot of fun. And NOLA was a photographer's heaven. But I can't wait to put this long zoom to use - anywhere!

I put in my pre-order today for the Fuji XF 100-400. I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota, surrounded by wildlife of all kind. I do a lot of shooting with two friends who are both Nikon shooters (I was for 40 years) and they have great long lenses - one has the Nikon 400 and Nikon 600 and the other has the recent Tamron 150-600. I sold all my Nikon stuff last year and have missed the long reach, but now I am going to be out in the field again with the bison, antelope, deer, prairie dogs, waterfowl and herons that live here in the beautiful Black Hills.

I love my 3-Legged thing Brian. Lightweight, can hold up to 22 pounds and hold camera inches off the ground or 7 feet high. And compact. I folds up and sits inside my ThinkTank backpack.

I love my 3 Legged Thing Brian. "Brian" is the name of the tripod model, which are named for rock stars. It is graphite, light weight, converts to many shapes and has a monopod. http://www.3leggedthing.com/ video: http://www.3leggedthing.com/brian-video

B&W makes great glass filters for any budget. I have been real happy with them. I use them for front element protection. Recently got into the Lee Seven5 filter system for my XT1, but that is pricy and for other purposes.

long travel combo advice - xt10 or xt1?
sgmcenroe replied to andrzejbe's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
As for a bag I would suggest a ThinkTank Retrospective 5. That would have room for the two cameras and two lenses, plus batteries, cards and a charger.
