I shot this photo on my first walk with X-T10 – the XC 16-50mm OIS II as a bundle, the exifs show „P“, as it was preset in the shop, where I have bought it.
At 16 mm you may get close up to even 15 cm (0IS II)! For green landscape however I prefer the XF 18-55 OIS or even XF 16mm f1.4.

    Kind regards Rieke

    Hi Jacek,

at first sight I thougt XC16-50 OIS II is wonderful! It is a light weight and as such in the city e.g. I have been happy about.
I did not do any pixel peeping, but please have a look at this:

There is fringing between the horizon and the woods, the woods at larger distance themselves are somewhat „muddy“ with the XC16-50mm OIS II.
When having a look at the following picture taken with the XF18-55mm at another location you will clearly see what I mean: the picture hase more depth, a better solution and the green colors are natural and differentiated.

You may decide by yourself – I decided in favour of the XF18-55. In my appropriate city bag it is not too heavy for walking around...
    Kind regards Rieke

Thanks Jürgen! It's a bit backwards actually: first, Margaret started her "Daily Jump" challenge on Instagram, but despite being a professional photographer in her own right, promptly resorted to my help. I don't mind it at all – as a matter of fact, this is a great way to train for creating the poster shots for Bar Mitzvah kids… but my Daily blog is not entirely about Margaret's jumps

As a matter of fact, back in my old Daily project, it was more about my backyard wildlife, so right now I have a crowd chanting "Birds! Birds!"…

But now it usually goes like this: "What did I shoot today worth posting? A few cityscapes, some street crap, a crow, a cloud reflecting in a puddle, and a beautiful girl jumping like there's no tomorrow, lit by the colored strobes…"

    The latter usually wins

    Hi All !

This is a classic here during the Winter Carnaval, this sport is very specific to the St-Lawrence River and it's history, I don't think there is any other place where you can see something like it. This really active and dynamic sport is very demanding for the athletes, in this race the pro class will do a total of 15 km, crossing the river three time. During the winter there is a total of 7 races along the St-Lawrence River, and lucky me, two of them are in my home town, Quebec City.

Not much ice on the river this year made it easy and fast for the "canoteurs", but it was less spectacular for us the spectators and photographers. Never the less it was a great opportunity for some good action shot.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia article about the sport: Ice canoeing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I used mostly my X-T1 with the Xf50-140mm + XF1.4 TC and a second body, my good old X-E1, paired with the XF16-55 for close shoot. I was standing right by one of the three buoys delimiting the race course, so it was easy to get some shots of the canoes coming toward me.

Thanks ! For these I used de Zone mode , 3x3 grid for the Free Style and a mix of 5x3 and 3x3 grids for the Slalom

Hi ! Thanks too ! Wide Tracking will use the outer (and slower) CDAF points on the sensor, it is better to stick to the central hybrid CDAF/PDAF points for fast subject, either with Zone or Single

Here are the settings on my X-T1 when I'm shooting sports
    High Performance Mode is On,
    Pre AF is On,
AF-Mode mostly on Zone, 5x3 grid or 3x3, and only the central PDAF points are used, I'll use Single Point if the subject is a busy pack of athletes to keep the AF from jumping from one to the other.
Release /Focus Priority is set to Focus (both for Af-S and Af-C),
    Face detection = Off
    Eye detection = Off
    Shutter on MS only.
AF is on Continuous and the Drive Mode is on CH (8fps),
My EVF is set to Normal, not Full
LMO is On (even if I'm shooting RAW only)
I'm shooting RAW only with a 300mb/sec 64gb SD UHS II, no problems with the buffer.

I usually aim and half-press the shutter while tracking the subject, I'll then fire a short burst when the subject is close to the optimum distance.
The hard part is aiming during the black out, practice and anticipation is the key, but I'm sure I'm going to love the X-T2

    Thanks again
    Gilles

Why do people always think that WR is about rain? I couldn't care less about rain. I care about dust. It's not that much of a problem with the 23 due to internal focusing, but for example the 18-55 sucks in more dust than a vacuum cleaner. This lens is on my X-E2 and my wife uses it a lot and I can't even count how often I had to clean out the camera and sensor from dust specs. Never ever had so much problems with it.

I had the 14 and sold it. It's great for landscapes but I don't do much landscape photography. The 16 is better for people, in my opinion. Specifically environmental portraits and close-up action photography in less-than-perfect light (I'm a skateboarder as well as a photographer, and the 16 is my 'skatepark lens.') It's also brilliant for pets in wet and muddy conditions with an XT1

With time to spare today I wanted to see the real effects of adjusting these values in the menu to see the effect on the jpeg output. I think an image speaks a thousand words on this subject so please if you were interested/curious and don't have enough time to try yourself you can see the results here and download the jpegs as a reference:

Although tested on my X Pro 1 (odd I never pick up the X-T1 for this stuff) it will apply to the current crop of Fuji cameras. At least until tomorrow!
