I sincerely hope this rumour is true.

The one thing that has been lacking from the Fuji system (for me) is IBIS and I am truly delighted that this may soon be rectified.

Fuji seems to be the one manufacturer who is really working with photographers rather than merely pursuing "in house" ideas.

    Long live Fuji!

I thought this was about Steve loosing it? Well that actually happend a very long time ago already according to http://huffparanormal.com/ . Stopped reading his stuff after I discovered this..

And yes, the A9 is an impressive camera, but does that mean it invalidates the X-T2? I think not..

There are lots of example videos showing the camera being used in the real world, in situations that are a lot more strenuous than I'LL ever use a camera in. I watched one last night of 20fps shooting of a pole vaulter in really low light (ISO 6400) with distractions in the frame, and watched the camera nail every single shot without even flinching. There are samples showing no rolling shutter issues. And yes, OIS CAN BE better than in-body, but all the usual arguments apply: Costs savings on lenses, getting stabilization with every lens you own, including legacy glass from back in the day, and as you said, it can be disabled in favor of in-lens IS.
You may not care about FF vs APS-C, but many people do, and the benefits are obvious and well documented.
And no, battery life isn't worth $3000, but all the rest of it put together certainly is. It's a brand new sensor tech with completely unbelievable features that aren't close to being touched by any other manufacturer. Unless the camera literally doesn't work, then it's better than even a 1Dx or D5 in every way that counts, other than MAYBE durability and weather sealing, and only those because we don't know yet.

20fps burst with AF checked 60 times per second without any viewfinder blackout is way better than X-T2

It has way more phase detect AF points, spread over much more of the image.

It has way better battery life despite having way more horsepower under the hood

The electronic shutter has no rolling shutter issues

    It has in-camera 5-axis IS

    It's full frame

Just because another camera comes out that's better than yours doesn't mean your camera gets worse. You can be excited for Sony and for people who will buy, use, and love the camera, all without having to hate your gear, or feel bad about yourself. The a9 is objectively better than the X-T2 in basically every objective way, and yet the X-T2 will probably do just fine taking nearly any photo you could want to take. It's okay. Take deep breaths.

Makes sense to release close-ish to X-Pro 2

I think Fuji have a bit of a marketing nightmare on their hands.

X-Pro2 is rightly the flagship in the sense that it has the hybrid viewfinder and with AF updates and a new sensor its going to be a great camera. However a lot of people (rightly or wrongly its still a fact) prefer the SLR shape and the additional control provided by an ISO dial etc. I think Fuji realize that they have a huge audience for the X-T its been there most popular camera and that if they wait to long to release it after the X-Pro2 then they might annoy everyone.

They obviously want a little bit of time for the X-Pro2 to be the only game in town so it does not get totally trounced in sales which would be embarassing given its the 'flagship' model, and more expensive.

I think it's just a matter of time that compacts will have bigger and bigger sensors.. LX100 already showed this.
If Fuji aspires to be a compact on one hand but with a street photography Leica-retro-like style ,and wants to catch up with the rest of the compact competitors (lx100 or Rx100) and also be more innovative than the rest, I think it would be great to have:

    - bigger sensor for sure. it affects image quality in all aspects: noise, bokeh etc. 1` I think it's not enough, it will only cause Fuji to be left behind, while others already have bigger ones.

    - zoom lens - is it's great as is, let's be honest, but could be greater if the minimum focal length wouldn't cause the lens to protrude that much, so the camera was more flat  and more pocketable. i.e lens could start from the size as the x100 is, and then, if You zoom in, the lens extends.

    - normal on/off switch

    - 1/1000sec on wide open now is a bit of a joke. 1/4000 on a full range pleasee

    - ND filter !

    - maybe bigger viewfinder

    - aperture ring

Overall it's a really good camera. If these things change, the time will come to finally sell dslr and buy this. Great handling and quality, all around camera. No need to have anything more for 85% of photography.
There's just this image quality (lack of bokeh) that doesn't satisfy semi pro or advanced amateurs. Rest is a bit of nitpicking.

Jan Safranek reacted to Antony in Why don't Fuji make an Instax Wide printer?
I'm a big fan of instant film so in addition to my X-T1s, X100T and X30 I also have several instax cameras, most notably the venerable 500AF and the Mini 90. I also have the Instax SP-1 Smartphone printer which uses standard instax film, as well as the impossible project instant lab for larger shots. What I can't understand is why Fuji won't release a printer for Instax Wide film. There would be huge demand from traditional photographers, and it would sure make my life easier not having to use impossible project film, which takes 40+ minutes to develop instead of the 3 minutes for Instax. It's also about a third of the price.

Can we get some support for this idea and send it along to Fuji?

    I like mine.

Brought it for my X-E1 originally, but still use it on my X-T1.  I use it in preferance to my 18-55 for landscapes where its slightly smaller aperture is less important and its light weight is an advantage.  Image quality seems very acceptable to me.

If true, it would make sense for Fuji to use Sony's 44x33cm sensor to both keep cost down and because Sony's tech is class leading. Now that Pentax has shown that a sub $10K medium format body is possible, Fuji could better the pricing. In my photo fantasy I'd like to see a consortium, similar to Micro Four Thirds, around a mirrorless medium format mount. Fuji, Sony, Mamiya-Leaf could be the first names signed.

Surely this is the truest statement for any camera. When I first got an X-Pro 1 they told me it was useless using it for action shots. So of course I had to prove that wrong.
Granted, it was never going to match a 1Dx or D4, but it was more than adequate for most scenes involving movement once you understand how the focusing worked.

And this is where I am with the 100T - fresh out of the box, ans time to start learning 'how it works'...

90 = 135 as, for example, a candid shot lens without OIS?   Now you need to shoot at 1/125 or more.

I understand, like Zeiss, that Fuji may not want to put OIS in lenses because they would be bigger, and perhaps it would affect IQ.  (Zeiss doesn't even want to put autofocus in, though they have in some cases.)

But then ok, put it on the sensor!  If you need greater DOF and have to stop down, you need OIS.  Long lenses, which at least to me includes 135mm, need OIS, at least for those of us without rock steady hands.  In fact, I would be more tempted to buy the 16-55 F2.8 if it had OIS.  As it is, it's a throwback to my 24-70 F/28 Nikkor, which I love on a tripod, but would like much better for handholding with OIS.  The new Tamron competitor to that has IS and beats the Nikon in tests I've seen.

It would be interesting to see the IQ of the 56 or 90 and 16-55 compared to the 24-70 Nikkor as it behaves mounted on the Fuji.
