  1. It's irrelevant, ibis doesn't magically yield good pictures.
  2. Ditch the 18-55 for the 35 and thank me later. You might not use the 23 that much anymore tho... Not that many scenarios it'd be a better choice and it's that much bulkier and heavier. Xf 35mm f/1.4, believe me probably the best mirrorless lens ever (IQ, size, weight and character wise, not AF)
  3. “I do have a personal discipline of only taking one picture of one thing. Not two. I would take more than one and get so confused later. I was trying to figure out which was the best frame. I said, this is ridiculous—I’m just going to take one.” William Eggleston You have to hear him say "ridiculous" in the mot possibly pissed manner hahaha
  4. Hahahaha excellent
  5. Highly enjoyable, but I'm quite disturbed by the mix of b&w and colour pictures, looks like they are not all from the same photographer imo, I'm not against doing both, but I'd rather stick with one look per project. Really liked b&w for this one, not everyone does b&w landscapes well but when it works it's stunning, bravo.
  6. Typical pixel peeper / forum warrior comment. They don't need to do incredible revolutionary OMG WOW things that will impress people for 6 months until something more WOW OMG WOW comes out. All they need to do is to build a sensible range of excellent glass, well priced, and nice bodies with full, accessible manual controls, aimed at people who know what they do. Which they are doing well. Hopefully they won't go too much in that face detection and PASM dial way tho, I can't help but wonder "do they think I'm that dumb?" when I see the X-T10...
  7. I would be worried if it wasn't a fantastic camera for 4k heh. On the video I can "feel" how it's well built and all the buttons and rings feel tight and so right. Must be a pleasure but they won't sell many fixed 28mm tho.
  8. I've been walking yesterday to a point de vue where I had not been since a long time. Last time it was pretty much the same conditions and I only had the 18-55. I took home so-so pictures of the landscape. Wasn't really pleased how the very far details and foliage rendered, couldn't say exactly what it was but wasn't really good, tweaked sharpening in LR for a long time before giving up. Yesterday, was there again with the 35. The opposite happened. Doesn't matter what sharpening I use the far away areas and foliages look amazing. This is not something that you can see in brick wall shots reviews. A zoom is practical. A good prime is magical. Pick your choice...
  9. Usually not my stuff but have to say this one is somehow glorious
  10. Yes, but it doesn't really matter. It was pretty bad on the 18-55 tho as it "breathes" a lot, that was one more point for me to sell it (too cheap but I'm not a jerk) before it got out of control. The 35 does OK for now, time will tell. Another reason to get the 35 f/2 when it's released for streets and hikes, and keep the 1.4 for interiors and non-dusty environments (after the rain is a good time)

  12. Some experiments with motion today. I'll have to work a lot more on that to get something really interresting I think... 14. You have a rather defensible opinion, it makes sense. I agree with pretty much everything you say, and also feel that Fuji "probably is a bit random in how they perform kaizen". Looks like they are putting a bit of this here, a bit of that here, ah well we forgot this one let's put this but not that, suddenly nothing more, it's not clear for the customers at all (don't think it's really clear for them either), and probably generates some frustration I can understand that. Albeit for me if they don't break anything and keep adding stuff until no more is given I'm perfectly fine, but I can understand it. The line of conduct you propose is maybe a bit simple (all identical hardware same FW) but would clear things up.
  15. I'm totally getting it and I'm not hating, I understand everyone who asks politely (tho I'd argue it'd be more efficient to mail them directly or write on the official forum) for an upgrade, but I do hate those "I DEMAND" and "GIVE IT TO ME OR ELSE..." attitude. So write them an email if you like to, and meanwhile keep shooting and share your pictures. The level of those who brag the most being less than impressive, there is still some hard work to do before reaching 20% of the potential of the X100S as it is. That's not called hating that is called preaching for some humility and reality check. CC won't turn a bad picture into a good one. The AF is sufficient to shoot fast moving animals. Don't get me started, it's a lost cause.
  16. Well I am in the same boat as you and Wolfbastien, I got the 18-55 really to see what focale I'd use the most with a plan to get a fixed one once that is clear to me. As many good photographers and schools teach (Lesson 1 : study, but also listen to the masters). Toyed around for a few months, then I've been using the 18-55 1 month long almost exclusively fixed on 35mm, and a few times on 18 when I had no other choice. Since I have the 35mm prime my rate of keepers skyrocketed, as did my ability to "see" a picture before taking it, and being totally immerged in my environment rather than wondering, hmm, so should I use 23 or 35 now, if on 23, f/4 is enough DOF but if I go to 35 shouldn't I use f/5.6, ah wait now my shutter speed has dropped too slow AH CRAP PICTURE GONE. People say, sometimes you don't have time to move quickly enough, and "what if', well zooming in or out did not help either with those "what if" situations, never made really good pictures. Running with a fixed lens set on something sensible according to the available light did tho. So yeah I'll probably stop there with lenses and spend money in travels and more photo books, and maybe spare to upgrade the X-E1 at some point.
  17. Well finally I've ditched (sold) the 18-55mm, claimed before it's going nowhere but I simply can't see myself using it anymore. Don't like the out-of-focus rendering, weight, max aperture, variable aperture, meh don't want to use it even for "vacations" I'd rather have only the 35. With the money I ordered a 18mm for those times I'm cornered with the 35. So I'm like you now, with 18 and 35. I can't really see a third lens I'd want. The 27, is not a 23, it has no aperture ring also, I don't know it doesn't have much to it compared to the 35. Fuji needs to make a small and light 23mm really, not everybody wants an X100T. Maybe I'll get the 27 while waiting but it feels a bit like lost money. At 200€ that'd be ok, but even 250€ doesn't feel really right. Or maybe I just don't need anything else than 2 lenses and there's no reason to try so hard to find a third one haha
  18. Well if you're after such a giant lens, why not go all the way and have it as fast as possible? On the other hand, it won't be targeted at real pros with a variable aperture. That will be more for the safari / wildlife enthusiast. So I can see that it would make sense to make it cheaper, but smaller ? Not a real issue in that range imho.
  19. Who said I don't like Fuji? Way to elude the debate. I've been there too, wishing things for my X-E1. Wondering weeks long if I shouldn't have bought an X-E2 because I really wanted CC. Then I took a good breath and went out to make pictures, and wondering about the next one, constantly looking for content, colours and light instead of wondering how the camera could be better. I modified the raw files of my best ones to make them look like they are from an X-T1 and use the silkypix CC profile on them. That did not change the content, nor anything of importance. It could be nice to give the same look to all of my pictures instead of using pro neg Hi (or Std inside often) but I'd have shitty skin tones. There are much better things to worry about, like how to become a better photographer.
  20. And next there will be an Ektachrome simulation available for the X100T, and you'll be all over the place because the X100S doesn't get it and it's so freaking autentically X100S-ish. Or Portra. Or Tri-X. Whatever. This has simply no end. You have to accept that at some point there is an end to the support of a product. Your camera is better than at day 1, and not worse than tomorrow. As long as it makes pictures... Really I think this kaizen thing has perverted Fuji's customers in wanting always more and more and more but when does it stop? Certainly not with a "LAST UPDATE PLEASE FUJI WE PROMISE JUST ONE AND WE'LL BE FINE". No, you won't. Something will be next. Go look at what this guy makes : http://www.dirtyharrry.com/1970/06/once.html And think that it's made with a canon DSLR, shitty pinhole lense and beat-up wide angles primes and almost no PP, and it looks 1000x more like CC than any of the fuji amateur pictures I've ever seen. It's not the camera.

    Important Stuff

  23. Well I've got some news for you, the X100T has wifi, a bigger LCD, a faster EVF, added aperture stops, expanded Exposure Comp, and some more.
