  1. Carbon fiber is not really all that much lighter than aluminum but it absorbs vibrations better (wood does that too but it is heavier). In practice, for most users and situations, the difference is price is huge while the gain in performance is very small.
  2. I have a travel insurance (covering throughout the year) which insures all manners of risks ( diving) and things you have with you, camera stuff too, for me, unless you are doing a professional trip (which makes the equipment fall into a different category, mind you THE SAME equipment will fall into a different category). I don’t think that you need another insurance than a regular travel insurance.
  3. Cheers, good luck!
  4. when you resize jpegs for printing you need to use appropriate sharpening Many tutorials on line. NIK suite has a feee specialized sharpening
  5. there are a number of problems reported with aperture rings slipping, not engaging or being stuck. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/2823-aperture-ring-not-working-on-xf55-200mm/ http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/680-56mm-f12-aperture-stopped-clicking/ I don’t think that it is a good idea to bring any lens to a third party for repairing ( Fujifilm authorized independent labs, really?) THIS is the page where they state their Romanian importer, get in touch with them, the emails you have to change the at for @ and (dot) for . https://www.fujifilm.eu/eu/about-us/european-gateway/romania 24A Barbu Delavrancea Street, 6th apt, 1st district, Bucharest, Romania, postal code 011352 +40 21 314 79 11 daniel.ion(at)fujifilm-digital.ro ; nicolae.ionel(at)fujifilm-digital(dot)ro Good luck!
  6. so, now you have a box (which has the serial number on it and cannot be used for any other camera) that you were charging $50 for and that the buyer didn’t get? And what are you going to do with the box now?
  7. Maybe things that the camera cannot get? You can’t get 24Mp or 4K or the joystick, so... other than that the X-T1 is at its peak and the only thing that it might get in future is compatibility with the new lenses or flash which are yet to come.
  8. I keep anything for several years in its original box ( at some point for certain things no longer matters) , the only unboxed thing that I own is a 18-55 which came from a kit deal and I bought only the new lens while someone else bought the camera from the shop.
  9. that picture is positively stranger ( very unsharp and a little overexposed too) there might be something wrong with this lens. Get rid of it.
  10. You mean to say that the un-sharp white parts have an “ halo” around them? Your picture doesn’t look “ strange” to me for a lens used at close distance other than it is also possibly slightly motion-blurred or in any case not particularly sharp. You appear to have focussed on the F of the first line of the main text despite the 1/80 of the shutter speed it looks like you might have not held this very steadily , however, other than that I don’t see anything particularly strange or wrong.
  11. which is the ONLY thing that should concern us on this photography forum. Any other comment is, of course, by definition, a political comment.
  12. thinking about it is good but still, you wouldn’t know what Fuji has in mind to do with this. They obviously had something else in mind when they introduced the X-T10 and didn’t upgrade the firmware of the X-E2 for a very long time. Only after popular outrage among all those who had bought a camera at $999 when it first came out caused the to upgrade the firmware while they released the X-E2S which has such minor differences that the €200 are a doubtful choice. Although it is reasonable to think that they will improve the X-E2S and leave the X-E2 without further developments we have no way to know what Mr. Fuji thinks and, as we’ve seen, he has been known to change his ming over breakfast.
  13. you can change the aperture of the lens when in program mode. For the rest this is not the first time this things have been spoken about if few threads, one way or other but yes, you can do what you describe. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/2485-change-shutter-aperture-with-dials/
  14. Sorry, misunderstood your question, you are talking of the Advanced SR Auto mode, I thought you were talking of the normal Auto ( aperture or shutter) settings of the camera. I think that like all advanced modes it shouldn’t work with raws.
  15. nice to hear that they are following up your complaint. Keep us informed on ow this unravels. Good Luck!
  16. then don’t. There are tons of shops and private sellers, for example among the members here.
  17. there is no difference between firmware 4.0 in the video and the newest software when it comes to accessing menus. I have the same camera and the same software and it works exactly as described before. I am afraid that I cannot describe it any better than I’ve already done before, so, perhaps you’ll forgive me if I won’t do it again. Sorry. The only thing that I can think of is that you are pressing the Menu OK button too firmly, you only have to quickly touch it after switching on. Good Luck!
  18. but this is Amazon, you buy through them.
  19. the D pad is the pad where you select things on the camera when you switch on the camera, first press on OK, the menu appears, then you press on the left button of the D pad, this gives you access to the set up menu (blue, the one with the wrench) and then you scroll down between set up menu 1, 2, 3. When you reach the part of the menu that you want to enter, you press the right button, then to select it and access it you press the OK button, now you are in the part that you can change, change and then press ok to exit. If you don’t understand my explanation look at this video. Youtube has many tutorials, if you don’t understand how something works look it up there. @https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzRovVZwvYg
  20. I see, a different beast, yes the filters would work if stack up, probably without any vignetting
  21. If it is secondhand and perhaps refurbished from a repair or stuff that has been brought back to the shop it can be kosher. Amazon seems to be doing the delivery themselves. Anyway, if you pay with paypal or credit card your purchase is insured and guaranteed. I don’t see the problem.
  22. no the first part of the hood is the filter adapter too
