light, to allow a fast enough shutter speed, for the required depth of field, and a low enough ISO to prevent any unwanted noise

Comparison: XF18F2 vs. X70F2.8 vs. XF1855F2.8-4
Tikcus replied to KwyjiboVanDeKamp's topic in Fuji X Lenses
there is not a bad lens there (IMO) although looking at the CD collection hurts my head, the same way a david hockney joiner does -
thanks I guess that is an optical illusion, no changes were made to the individual photographs that were combined (all taken using tripod and same lens). I appreciate the comments, so thank you

I'd expect all new lenses moving forward will be WR lenses. Pleased Fuji are listening, but i'm not likely to buy it, because it is similar to what I already have

I never got around to doing a full test, but did a quick DOF test https://www.flickr.c...th/24722696029/ from F/2 to F16 on a Petri K mount 50mm lens exposure is not the same on all shots, ISO was increased to compensate; however, did it quick without a tripod so couldn't compensate enough no changes made to RAW files

I have a few K mount lenses old school from the late 70's, picked up a £15 adapter, and with focus peaking on the XT-10, focussing is easy, Since the lenses have an aperture ring, it is no harder than using an XF lens in manual focus mode Hoping to spend some time and actually use them soon when I do, I'll post a link to my flickr

Comparison: XF18F2 vs. X70F2.8 vs. XF1855F2.8-4
Tikcus replied to KwyjiboVanDeKamp's topic in Fuji X Lenses
looking at images on flickr at f/2.8 the difference seem slight to me, certainly not enough to justify buying the same focal length again (if you already own one of the 3 options) -
This ^ From a DOF point of view, I love large apertures for portrait length lens for long lenses large apertures allow a faster shutter speed without bumping ISO to levels where noise is visible, for wide lenses, where I would normally want the entire frame sharp, it would be stopped down anyway, i don't see the need for myself to by an F/1.x lens if i'm shooting at F/8 or F/11 anyway High quality glass is more important to me than fast glass, just for the sake of having it

Poll: How do you use viewfinder, display, menus?
Tikcus replied to fordfanjpn's topic in General Discussion
eye sensor I have customised function buttons, so TBH, I only really go into menus to turn on or off face detection, everything else either has a dial or a function button. e.g. on XT-10 bottom right function in shooting mode has been changed to ISO (still set to wifi if in playback mode) -
XT-10, X-Pro1, X-A1, X-S1 are all in the pool of cameras used, but the XT-10 is the only camera I normally carry

No E-Mount APS-C bodies have IBIS, the Full Frame models perhaps give Sony more space? If Fuji is committed to APS-C at least for X-Mount, perhaps IBIS will be ruled out permanently for the X-mount? Although I agree that longer prime lenses could find it useful, and I hope the 1:1 macro lens has it, as it would be useful in my opinion for macro photography. Although both the Sony 35mm with OSS (SEL35F18) and 50mm with OSS (SEL50F18) are both fantastic lenses (the 50mm may be the best price performance lens ever) which can be shot handheld at very slow shutter speeds, the usefulness is limited to a few situations; and If it adds cost to a lens, and or makes them bigger and heavier the trade off would be questionable (at least at shorter focal lengths).

IBIS is no major deal breaker, when using fujinon lenses Most zoom lenses have OIS Most Fujinon Primes are fast I can uses the 35 F/1.4 at 1/30 second, hand held without camera shake (could always use a monopod aswell if needed). At no point evey have I missed a shot because I needed a slower shutterspeed than 1/30 (pretty mush never push ISO beyond 1600). I don't have the 90 F/2, however that is a strange lenses to want to use handheld, but if I had said lens and kept the shutter speed around 1/100 sure it (camera shake) wold be a non issue, though i definitely feel that is more of a portrait lens where you would have a tripod and control the lighting anyway. tldr IBIS does not matter as long as the long zoom lenses have OIS (which they do)

If Fuji make a fisheye I would prefer they go down the Sony route, and make a normal lens with an optional adapter. More lenses would sell, then the people that want the fisheye adapter could buy the optional adapter
-
fast, but big and heavy (I expect) If the new 2X tele is released would make a 400mm F/4 lens Interesting (although I can see the price tag being huge)

Is the X-Pro 1 dead in the water re updates
Tikcus replied to Chaps51's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I expect Fuji will continue to support the camera with firmware updates for new lenses (when required), as the camera is still on sale, and probably for a long time after it is discontinued. I wouldn't expect to see new features rolled out via firmware anymore though. -

some, really nice photos there. tbh every lens has a purpose. I normally use either the 35 F/1.4 or the 18 F/2 (I must have a good copy, as have no issues) My shooting style is different to yours and have never used the wider lenses, My next lens will be the 56F/1.2 If you want to compare lenses I'd point you to Fuji comparison tool

As a happy fuji shooter who has no preference between body shape, it is an interesting situation. When I purchased the XT-10 it was cheaper (in the UK) compared to the X-E2, which at the time with inferior auto focus and shutter compared to XT-10. If I was buying the camera now an the choice was between the X-E2s and the XT-10 and the price was the same. I would have thought a lot harder about which model to buy. At the time of writing the X-E2s is £50 more expensive than the XT-10, has a bigger viewfinder, and a higher res screen, but the XT-10 features a tilting screen. The difference I don't get from the specs on Fujifilm.eu/uk is with the continuous shooting it list the following X-E2S - Approx. 7.0 fps (JPEG : max. approx. 18 frames) X-T10 - Approx. 8.0 fps (JPEG : max. approx. 8 frames) Same sensor, same processor (maybe a slight difference in RAM?) Back to no X-E3 this year, I'd be surprised to see a replacement to the X-E2s or an X-T10 this year, as they would potentially hurt sales of just released high end products, especially if the differences are similar to the differences between the XT-1 and XT-10. Apart from, the viewfinder, WR, and continuous shooting buffer there is not a lot if any difference between the cameras, and for the additional price, it is not worth it for a lot of shooters (yes there are lots that require the extras and they are willing to pay for it), but potentially a lot of early adopters would wait if they new they could get 90% of the camera for 70% of the price if they only had to wait a few weeks/months. there was over a year between the X-T1 release and X-T10 release, so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see replacements for X-T10 and X-E2s until summer/autumn (fall) 2016

Does anyone have this lens, and what are your experiences with it. Looking as it is fast, and less than half the price of the XF56 F/1.2, granted no autofocus. I have heard good things of other Samyang lenses (like the 12mm F/2) but not seen a lot about this one Thanks in advance
