Will Fujifilm Be Seduced By the "Dark" side?
flysurfer replied to Aswald's topic in General Discussion
Obviously, X-Trans III will feature even less read noise than X-Trans II. -

It seems that you have little understanding of what is actually going on. That's okay, but it's not helpful to distribute false information, because others users may take it seriously. I recommend that you read my book on the X-T1 (an X-T10 book will be out later this year), as it contains plenty of information with regards to RAW converters, lens correction metadata, the LMO and other topics. It may be helpful, although I'm not so sure in your particular case. Obviously, all this is quite off topic here, as this thread is about film simulation color accuracy in Lightroom vs. the built-in RAW converter. I'd recommend trying the film presets in RFC EX 2 and especially Iridient Developer 3 (X-Trans APS-C sensor profiles v 3.3). IMHO, Brian's profiles are the most accurate (especially when used with the DR function), but I'm a bit prejudiced because I played a minor role in making them. There are also user-created Fuji film simulations for Capture One Pro. Sadly, Adobe's "Fuji-sanctioned" profiles do not cut it, but this is also due to Adobe's particular way of applying adaptive tone mapping. -

Btw, X-T10 has a known firmware bug regarding image crop with certain lenses that will be fixed in a July update. I've already mentioned this in the German forum. That said, it's only supposed to affect lenses with digital distortion correction. In the end, the RAW converter makers decide which 16 MP of the 16.3 MP to use. Some even use all 16.3 MP, others output even less than 16 MP. -

Nope. Let me repeat it for everbody: There's not digital distortion correction in the lenses I mentioned. Easy to see in a RAW converter that offers to turn on/of RAW metadata based lens corrections. LMO hasn't anything to do with distortion, anyway. LMO deals with corner sharpness and diffraction blur (and also a few other things, Fuji intends to broaden the LMO playing field). -

There is no digital distortion correction at all in Fujinon XF 14, 16, 23, 56 and 90mm primes. -
The control lock is explained in a text box on page 3 of the X-T1 owner's manual. The lock symbol itself is explained twice on pages 5 and 6 (illustrations of all camera EVF and LCD symbols) and includes a reference to page 3.

No pain for me. I simply press one button on my X-T10. Takes me about 0.2 seconds. It's two presses and then half-pressing the shutter on my X-T1. More painful, but still bearable (takes about 0.8 seconds). As long as there are users who actually want to use FD along with AF-C and CL, there can't be an auto-off mechanism like when CH is set.

High Performance Mode - Battery vs. Speed
flysurfer replied to Calipedro's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
„TIP 8 Always use High Performance Mode!“ Auszug aus: Rico Pfirstinger. „The Fujifilm X-T1.“ iBooks. Nothing new, also applies to X-E2, X30, X100T and all cameras that offer this option.- 16 replies

Actually, all of this was also applies to firmware 3, as nobody with firmware 3 would or should use the ES for tracking, enable FD for tracking, disable HPM etc., and all of it is also in my book. No need to update these parts, they still apply. Not that much has changed between firmware 3 and 4. Yes, PDAF is speedier, CDAF is more reliable and there's now real 3D tracking with predictive CDAF. Actually, the faster predictive CDAF is the actual "killer feature". However, the most significant improvement is added comfort and convenience for those who previously struggled with the old single point AF. It's like adding ABS and ESP and an automatic transmission to cars: less experienced drivers may like it more than experienced ones. We had our first "real" firmware 4 workshop last weekend, and it took about 20 minutes to cover the additional features. It isn't complicated at all.

I'm no real photographer and since nobody would consider paying for any of my pics, I obviously don't shoot weddings. However, I still ended up shooting one as a free favor for a friend in May. I used a single pre-production X-T10 with pre-production firmware: https://www.flickr.com/photos/25805910@N05/sets/72157651034658853 I didn't encounter any AF problems.

Why JPEG files are suddenly good enough for me.
flysurfer replied to abjurina's topic in General Discussion
Why search? They are ordered alphabetically. I just click on the keepers and copy them. The idea of course is to not keep too many images. Less is more. Of course I could also copy everything to Aperture, then delete JPEG and RAW pairs in concert. But importing everything alone takes more time, so I don't. -

Why is the trash button useless in shooting mode?
flysurfer replied to jeremyclarke's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
The button has dual use in most X cameras. -
