  1. The boats are asleep.
  2. Yup, that was what I thought. If you mainly use the viewfinder, then leave that setting turned off. It is intended (when turned on) for those that use the touch screen for viewing and choosing the focus point.
  3. By chance do you have the settings for touch screen focus turned on? If so, then every time you look through the view finder, the focus point will bounce around like you are describing. Make certain it is turned off in the menus. That setting is more intended to be used with the big lcd screen.
  4. I do not think you can do that directly from the menus. This may help you: (See Tony Chen's response.) https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=66684
  5. That probably is a safety feature, USB-C delivers 15 watts of power = 5 volts at 3 Amps. USB-C with PD Gives 100 watts = 20 volts at 5 amps. If something goes wrong, either one of these is more than enough to send you ‘pining for the fjords’. https://hypertextbook.com/facts/2000/JackHsu.shtml
  6. Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos)
  7. You can try Affinity Photo, it is fairly affordable and works with HDR types of images. There are plenty of tutorials available for doing just that as well as Affinity’s online help section. p.s. You may want to change your title a bit. The very recent MacOS 10.15.4 Catalina update turned on support for HDR monitors, so if you have one connected to your Mac, you already have ‘HDR support’ in a sense.
  8. Bufflehead Ducks (Bucephala albeola)
  9. ... "when Final Cut X converts it to ProRes it doesn’t bring that metadata info along" ... This happens a lot even in the 'stills' processing apps. Or they will only transfer a few of the exif tags, with each processing level leaving fewer and fewer of the tags with the passed on image. Keep the originals around Justin Case.
  10. ExifTool is not that difficult is it? Try looking on the App Store for the app called Invisor or search using the tags: exif mov You probably will be able to find something that does not cost you lots of money. If you are unable to find something, drop me a note, I may be able to help you.
  11. Ring Billed Gull (Larus delawarensis)
  12. Spring moon. Winter's ice and snow have packed up and went somewhere else. That is, at least in the area where I am. Sure, a late storm may put lots of the white stuff on the trees and ground, but with temperatures in the mid 60s (~ 18 - 20 degrees Celsius) that scenario is looking less and less likely. So, Until Next Season!
  13. Here is a quick fix for you: push the disp button on the back. You should get the back screen changing from 'live view' to a screen with the various settings displayed, one of which may be the actual frame you will get when the shutter is released. I wrote may because what appears on that screen is determined by you when you set up the camera. That frame will be correctly exposed for the setting you have chosen, in this discussion's case, it will be black. Quite likely you have the live view enabled as well as the setting 'take photo even without a lens attached' turned on. Look closely at the information you have on the screen. The aperture setting will be in red which means the camera is telling you the exposure is so bad it does not want to take the photo, but will if you force it.
  14. You do not need an adaptor for the Rokinon lenses, they have them in x mount versions https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1047001-REG/rokinon_cv12m_fx_12mm_t_2_2_cine_lens.html I have this one, it gives some pretty good results for not so much money. You can get it on sale from time to time from the various vendors. It is fully manual, with the toothy geared focus and aperture rings.
  15. Awesome!
  16. I have been using a X-T30 for a while now, I really like it. If I had to replace it today, with a new body, I would get it again. Being tempted by the new X-T4 and its additional features would be there in my mind yes, but I manage to get enough foul weather photography fun by using basic protection for my camera. I would think again about that, if I had to routinely get photos in typhoon settings . The only recurring issue I have had is making sure I do not accidentally change the EC dial setting, it does not lock. I had a one time issue with an adaptor that allowed me to use a different company's long lens on this body. I had to stop, pull the battery, put the battery back in and then everything worked as it should. I never had that issue again in outings with that setup. Also, the adaptor has since had a firmware update and so I hope that does not glitch again. Glitches ruin the fun, but I have had so very few using the X-T30, that it is easy for me to stop and ignore the problem of N=1 bias* and recommend it. * N=1 bias means you do not have enough samples to make significant conclusions, your sample may be exceptionally good or bad, thus generalizing from that is bad juju.
  17. Well, you were right, I did not know that.
  18. Perhaps you can elucidate that.
  19. You are making me blush. I do appreciate your efforts, keep them floating on in (or rolling on in as the case may be for those poor unfortunate ones that are stranded without water). Great work! p.s. Did you cook those snails and mussels or just munch them down as you found them?
