  1. No such thing as a "Final Lens"!! Are you kidding? I am always looking forward to my next lens. I must also go with the 55-200. I have the 18-55 + 55-200 and they are truly my go-to lenses. Now if most your photography is landscape then possibly the 10-24, but only if you are very heavy on landscapes.
  2. Sept 8 is perfect for me that would mean a nice safe delivery on the 12th, but I am betting on Aug 30. I say that because that would put the 3 day delivery on my day off at my work before the long Labor day holiday. This means the camera will sit in an empty, but open to theft office for five days! Murphy's Law says Aug 30th release with a Sept 2 delivery at my office LOL
  3. To me the question of Image Quality is simply answered by the XPro2 images. The Sensor and processor in the two cameras are the same so I would expect the Image Quality of the two to be VERY similar if not the same. My pre-order was based on the new sensor and other new features that provide what I really see as an improvement on a camera that i didn't think could be improved (XT-1). Based on the rumors I knew what I was looking for so 7/7 early morning I put my order in. I've never pre-ordered anything before - this wait is killing me!!!!
  4. I have the Sirui in aluminum and really like it. I use it a great deal more than my Manfrotto simply because it IS SO MUCH easier to carry. But it has its limitations. For carrying around it can't be beat, I love it. Even the aluminum version is a good carry around tripod. The limitation comes to stability, I find it is very good for my close up flower shots where I am not too far off the ground. The tripod is quite stable at the lower heights and I am at lower heights most of the time. At full height the tripod is too light to be solid stable and thus in windy conditions can succumb to vibration. I find hanging my camera bag from the center pin alleviates that issue, but in those scenarios I do prefer my heavy Manfrotto. I have taken a hard look at the Manfrotto BeFree tripod. It also looks very good, but I have not used one so cannot comment on it. If it were more stable I could switch, but the problem is weight. Weight is required for stability so..... Maybe someone else can chime in on that one.
  5. OK, I have viewed more XT-2 videos than I can stand and read every article I could find. It's Time!!! I WANT IT IN MY HANDS NOW!!!!!! OK, yes I am a bit impatient. Just needed to say it
  6. My understanding is the the XT-2 also comes with an EF-X8 flash. So the list is XT-1, XT-2, and X-Pro2. I expect to own 2 EF-X8 flashes shortly as I own the XT-1 (Came with) and have the XT-2 on pre-order.
  7. That question opens up a lot of argument. One person is happier with one and another person happier with another. I know Lightroom and it works very well for me. I am using the latest version CC and I have had no problems. I don't see the issues others seem to see. With that said maybe my eyes just aren't as good. I read one article that compared three different software's to show how bad Lightroom was and provided pictures to prove it. Personally I thought all three were very good and liked the Lightroom better. There were differences, but nothing I would call bad in any of them, just different.
  8. I don't own a Xpro2, but I checked the specs and noticed they say "Mechanical Shutter: 1 / 250 seconds". Do you have the camera in Electric Shutter? I've been using the XT-1 and have pre-ordered the XT-2. I look forward the the 1/250 sync speed.
  9. I did not order the grip mostly because I am trying to fight off serious GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). The more I thought about it, yes it would be nice but I really don't do any sports. It could be useful for Birds In Flight but I don't do that very often and as far as 4k video I feel like in reality if I wanted to do video I'd buy a camcorder. So I just couldn't justify the cost as I doubt I would really use it that much. I pre-ordered mostly due to the increased resolution as I do find myself cropping a lot in post process. I also like the extra direction in the tilt screen, for younger folks it's not necessary, but the older I get the more difficult it is to get down into some of the positions it takes to get the shot I want. I will also enjoy the joystick as well as the other new Bells & Whistles. In short I saw enough to prompt me to go for the camera, but not the grip.
  10. I ordered 4:30 AM July 7th the day of announcement Central time from B&H and it said early September. That was actually 7:30 Eastern time (B&H time) likely even ahead of the announcement in New York. I noticed a change to Mid-August the next day and was pleased. I have not seen the change back to early September, but that would not surprise me. The original release date given by Fuji was Sept 8th. I just took another look and it has changed since yesterday "Expected availability: September 2016"
  11. First: I have fat fingers and Touch screen on ANYTHING is never accurate. I always get something started that I didn't touch! I hate that - half the time it takes me a deal of frustration to get out of whatever fool function got started. Second: I prefer a clean screen not one with finger prints all over it. Third: For me it just adds added expense for the product that I definitely don't need. I would settle for a camera that has it because I know some people do like it; BUT FIRST I MUST be able to de-activate it! I would not purchase it under any circumstances unless it could be de-activated. Not even the best camera made at a very low cost - Touch Screen is a permanent show stopper for me.
  12. It's not the lens, it's the camera. The Fuji cameras have a sensor that produces a 1,5 crop factor - so a 35 mm lens on a Fuji camera produces 52.5 mm view compared the a Full Frame camera without a crop factor.
  13. OK, If it can be turned off I can handle that (Don't want to pay for it though!). I have owned one camera with a touch screen, there was no way to turn it off. It was pretty much the main menu and only way the camera could work. I gave it away.
  14. I have decide to pre-order when it is announced as all sounds quite what I would like to see. But if it has a touch screen I will simply keep loving my XT-1. I know it's all personal preference but I hate those things. If I wanted finger prints all over my LCD then I would put them there - I don't want to be forced to put them there.
  15. Yes, Thank You for this. I love my XT-1 and look forward to the rumored features I have heard about for the XT-2. The decision to pre-order has pretty much been made. This just confirms what I have been hearing, but I could not always believe. There are such rumors as the announcement being June 14th. Hearing from someone who has actually handled one helps.
  16. Yes, I already own the 27 mm and it surprised me with how well I got along with it. The 40 mm FF equivalent is a great focal range. I saw how much the 35 mm is used and the $299 price at discount and I couldn't resist the temptation to give the 35 a try. I normally use zooms as I like the versatility, but using a prime has some real advantages, especially when it comes to opening up the creativity. This gives me a 12, 27, 35, and 60 in primes. I definitely suffer from GAS, but that's part of the fun.
  17. I couldn't help but notice that in the "Most Used Lens" thread/survey the 35 f1.4 was the most used lens with the 35 f2 following close behind. It made me realize that 35 mm must be the most used focal range or at least close to it. I also noted with the latest promotion the 35 f2 sold out almost immediately and are now on back order at B&H. With that in mind GAS took over, I just ordered the 35 f2 in Silver as it is still in stock. I didn't have a 35 mm lens so this will fit the bill. I am looking forward to getting it out and playing with it.
  18. Any comments on this is pure speculation. My guess is that the XT-2 will come out somewhere around the cost of the Xpro2 that is $1699 +/- $200. Actually if not $1699 the + $200 to $300 is more likely. The Xt-1 is on sale now most likely to reduce inventories so when the XT-2 does come out the XT-1 may be more difficult to find but likely available afterwards for quite some time, possibly with no more reduced pricing. If the XT-1 were to get sold out there will most likely be a glut on the used market for them at reasonable prices,
  19. I have the MCEX 11 and 16 mm extension tubes for my XT-1 and love them both. They work very well with the 18-55 lens. I have captured some very mice Flower pics with them. Enjoy.
  20. I do the same quite often. Generally when a landscape renders a histogram too wide to expose properly (One area is black and the other blown out). I bracket and then use HDR in Lightroom which generally produces a rather dull (HDR looking) image. That is no shadows at all - producing a rather fake look. I then use various sliders to bring back the shadows and make the image appear as I remember seeing it. I find this works quite well when it is needed. When I can I prefer to use just one image, but there are times when exposure problems make it impossible to get a good image. That is when HDR produces a more realistic photo.
  21. Photography is composed of two areas of knowledge. That is "Image Capture" and "Image Processing". This has been true since the beginning whether Image processing was performed with chemicals of software. Which is more important depends on the success of the image capture. There are times when image capture is most challenging and image processing completes the process. I consider both to be equally important, although processing to be unreal really turns me off. I believe image processing should bring out the truth of what was being captured.
  22. Tenba Messenger bags have this feature. I love it!
  23. I keep both the MCEX 11 and 16 in my bag with me. I find that with my lenses (10-24, 18-55, and 55-200) I can shoot Macro or Close Up any time something catches my curiosity. My photography is mostly outdoor walks with my camera bag to capture whatever I find interesting - this combo just works extremely well for me. One walk can capture Macro to Landscape to Wildlife at a distance, all depending on what I run into.
  24. I keep 4 lenses in my bag. 10-24, 18-55, 55-200, and 27 mm pancake. The bag is small enough to carry with me on my outdoor walks - the first three give me a (full frame) focal range of 15-300 so I can shoot anything I want. The 27 is available if decide to do some walking on the city streets. I also carry the two extension tubes in case I see something I want to get close to.
