  1. I just use them, stuff happens anyway, unless you live in a museum things are bound to happen to your gear. If possible, I would like to keep them in "as best possible" condition for my sons to enjoy if they do want to dabble in photography in a few years. But if they get broken, replacement is always possible.
  2. Only to a certain point, some older lenses have a large lens group to move, this will remain relatively slow as it's the motor inside the lens that takes time to move, but the newer sensor will improve the accuracy and reduce the hunting. But don't expect your 35 F1.4 to be as fast one of the lenses with linear motors, that is still not going to happen.
  3. I do not think it will be anything lower than 5000€ even the old Pentax 645z is still being sold at 8000€...
  4. There have been some slight advances in their G line lenses, mostly overpriced F2.8 zoom lenses and maybe a 85mm prime for portait but yes, it is still severely lacking, there are lot of primes that overlap with others since Zeiss is also making lenses for them. The number of available lenses is really important when you are going into a camera system, I have to admit that m4/3 got me really interested due to vast amount of lenses with a lot of them being primes but Fuji won me over with the X-T1.
  5. Again, it's a rumor... I will gladly accept that it is a probable rumor but if you want super reliable source, you might need to start applying for a job at Fuji Imaging department and hope to move high enough on the food chain to get all the crunchy news before anyone else. As for any kind of surprise appearance at Fotokina, it could be possible, but that would mean they would have been working in secret for that lens for at least the past year if not more. The 10-24 is plenty enough for my usage and I don't feel the need for a 8-16 F2.8 lens, the extra stop of light is not that much needed, only WR part would be interesting to me, but then again the F2.8 version will be a lot larger to the point I will hate it when I need to travel around with it. Like Milandro, I certainly do not share your view on the 10-24, it still a very compact with very good IS for those low light situations where you don't have any other choice but handheld the camera. And if your current gear does not match your needs, you could be using the wrong things. Cameras are just tools after all.
  6. I still have a working Pentax Spotmatic II camera that I use from time to time for a roll of either Acros or HP5. But those were camera that had only mechanical parts, weather conditions could hardly affect it unless there was water inside that froze the shutter solid or had foreign particules to block the moving parts. Electronic based device are a lot better in many fields but they are also a lot more sensitive than old film camera. My step father still has an old Leica M3 that just plain works even after close of 40 years. As for the zip bags, I tried that for a time but it became quickly cumbersome, plus I really dislike juggling lenses in a bag, so I would need really large bags for larger lenses plus their own padded carrying bags. Also in such conditions I would put the lens on the camera and not change it before I am certain I am safe to do so, or if there is a really good reason for me do it, like a broken lens or something like that.
  7. It is mostly to stay extra safe, with those weather conditions getting in and out of building with airco turned on full blast, it can deter the camera from taking a correct picture. That plus the occasional sudden rain that appears out of nowhere, I know that if I have a WR lens out when it starts raining, I don't have to rush for cover immediately, the camera is able to take some water on it and be fine about it.
  8. Have the shutter stay only on the mechanical instead of electronic. That will avoid all rolling shutter issue but you will be stuck with a max speed of 1/4000 of a sec. Normally if your speed is any faster than this, you shouldn't have it appearing unless you are panning to follow a fast moving subject too. General behavior is to stay still when taking the picture and turn off OIS if the speed is high. Each shooter have their own settings but I keep it as MS + ES and pay more attention if the speed above the 1/4000 to stay still for around half a second when taking the picture.
  9. The X-T10 was actually released with the features even before the X-T1 got them.
  10. I have no personal use of a 23 F1.4, the 35 F1.4 is useful enough for me when light goes away, but the WR on the F2 is a lot more interesting for me. Went over to Japan this summer and it was both hot and humid, the 35 F2 was a trooper in these conditions. I am expecting no less from that 23 F2.
  11. If that is still of any relevance, I can vouch for the Benro Travel Angel. They are rather expensive but it can be folded into 50ish cm and less than 2kg. It uses the same carbon structure that Gitzo uses, which are cross meshed carbon so technically they are about as sturdy. A good thing that Benro does, you can buy every single piece from them if you are missing any.
  12. Depends a lot if there are enough contrast on the scenery, if it's a complete blue sky and your AF is pointed at it, then yes it will hunt. But the same thing would happen to a lot of lenses.
  13. You have the AF-E/L button that can be used for that purpose, you can even configure it as either a switch or a held button.
  14. It's on the case of the double lens cap that is 3D printed. I am wondering if the printed double cap would be study enough to support some torsion (correct word ?) while in a transport bag. Specially worried for longer lenses, like a 18-135 on one end with the 90 on the other end.
  15. First of all, it's a rumor. By definition that means it is really not certain that they are going to release anything or if they are even working on it. Second point, lens development takes a long time, the rumors of that 23mm F2 have been around for almost a year now, and we very recently got some glimpse of it. That lens rumor start in June, that's not even a quarterly yet. There is no way they would have a finished product yet, at best, they might have a prototype and could be moving into field testing within the next quarterly or maybe early Q1 next year. Long story short, take some patience and wait for it. Fuji has to release a fully fleshed out triumvirate of F2.8 "pro" lenses and they are aware of it. There are no need to rush for it as alternatives exist, even native from Fuji.
  16. If you do get one, can you please let me know afterward ? I have been wondering about it but mostly for storage purpose, I would prefer them to be separated when traveling, less chances for the lens cap to break in the bag.
  17. Still waiting for that 23 F2 lens to get unveiled and have some reviews of it appears before I go and try it out myself, but there is a very good chance that I will be buying it on the spot.
  18. The XF 90 is really a beautiful lens, I prefers its rendering over the 56 F1.2 for portraiture work. While the AF speed is much higher than the 56 F1.2, I am not that certain of its speed if you have kids running around and actively trying to dodge your photo taking. Also, the focal length means you have to be further away, like a good 3m away if you want wider waist level shots for most adults. It's not an easy focal length to get used to, at least not for me.
  19. Just spend some time searching for it and it seems that my memory was playing games with me, it was a 3D printed double lens holder: http://www.shapeways.com/product/N29SZHW5F/fuji-x-mount-double-lens-cap
  20. It's a free app with some decent feature, clearly some more are missing but I do not think that a small forum with about a dozen of us clamoring about the changes needed will receive a wave of changes from Fuji. So yeah, while it's handy to have, it's by no mean a crucial part of my photography.
  21. Wasn't there a company that made a 3D printer mount from Nikon's FX to Fuji's XF for the lens clip ?
  22. The only off body TTL system I know for Fuji is RoboSHOOT. We had one of the company's owner on the forum a while ago and from what I could gather, it seems to be working as advertised but it is a rather steep price. At least for me, I can live with off body flash with manual settings. Youngnuo has very good wireless triggers for that and I can use either the Nissin i40 or my old SB600 flash. Now, there was some talks about the next Nission i60 that could be radio controlled but you would need at least 2 of them or something.
  23. I would clearly go for the X-T1 version, the dust can be a really bad thing for your lens and camera at some point. In that respect, I would go for the 18-135 lens. That's if you are fine with a lower IQ than other lenses on the Fuji line up. As said often, the lens by itself is not bad, but when compared to the others, that's where it really shows. Still, my most used lens on my X-T1, love the WR, love the 5 stops OIS and love the focal range, I can point that lens at anything and still being back a good picture.
  24. Plus, we are hardly representative of the Fuji's demographic. Take Thailand for example where Fuji A series reigns like an uncontested king for almost any woman with interest in photography.
  25. If you plan on taking a 15" laptop with your photo gear from time to time, I would highly suggest you a backpack style bag, it will be a lot better for your shoulders if you have to carry everything with you for several hours. Trust me on this, a fully loaded messenger bag will give you sore shoulders.
