It's the rumor about a possible MF camera body, it kind of takes times for it to come into fruition. The rumor about it could have come at any time of the development of it, usually it takes 1-2 years before a prototype is being made and maybe another year in testing. There is a very good probability that we won't be having any kind of announcement before Photokina this year, personally, I am not expecting anything before at least mid 2017.

If I remember correctly, that is the default shutter after one of the FW 4.x update. The second shots look a lot like a Rolling Shutter effect from Electronic shutter, the third shot is a bit inconclusive to me, it seems that the shot was just taken skewed.

Need recommendations for Canon mount lens adapter
darknj replied to xtrans's topic in Adapting lenses to Fuji X
None of them work best, as far as I know, you loose all electronic connections with the Canon lenses, meaning, you can't change the aperture anymore and obviously no auto focusing either. So you are left with only "dumb" adapters, get one made of metal, avoid the plastic one like hell. Check the comments if the metal adapter has any chaffing issues, if so, look for another one. Considering your needs, you could also get a focal reducer too, quite a bit more expensive but if the lens was made for FF, you get 2/3 of extra stop of light from it. ie. a F2.8 lens becomes a F2ish lens. There are some issues tied to that, you could get some softer picture as you are introducing extra glass between the lens and the sensor. -
Completely unrelated, what happened to your picture ? There is a lot of color banding. Just curious about what caused it.

I would have loved a "Ludicrous Mode"

That is quite normal, 35mm equiv is a much loved FoV for a lot of photographers, the first prime of a lot of ppl are either the 35mm or the 50mm, so since the 50mm equiv already got a WR F2 version, it was about time we have something akin for the XF 23mm F1.4. Plus, some of us do complain about its size. Which, I do not find to be that bad for a wider angle lens at F1.4.

What was the speed ? If it was above 1/4000, it could shift automatically to Electronic Shutter instead of the mechanical one.

They won't, they already said that IBIS will be impacting IQ too much for their taste and thus they aren't looking into it at all. They would rather have OIS lenses than rather things corrected in body.

Honest Opinion - Stick with Olympus or Get the X-T2
darknj replied to miburo's topic in General Discussion
Well, there are the 2.8 zooms for the 20-70 and 70-200 equivalent focal range. And there is the 15-36 F4 (XF 10-24 F4) for the wide end, should you need to go there. So that settles down quite a few things for weddings. Now, you are not going to get as many lenses as on the m4/3, specially on primes. Fuji is better than most, but still m4/3 still has the best choices in primes so far. As for the bodies, the X-T1 is faring quite well, even on a run and gun style I didn't loose too much time on the shots. The EvF is really an advantage on those situations where you can see your exposition even before pressing down the shutter. -
Question, are you certain the ball wasn't physically distorted when the picture was taken ? It would seems weird that only the ball would be distorted but nothing else around it. The boy's leg on the background are fairly straight, and I couldn't see anything weird about the girl's fingers either.

My New X-T1 is On the Way - Fixes, Bugs, Issues?
darknj replied to MarkDeneen's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Go for the latest firmware update, or if you want to see how things were pre FW4.x, have some fun with it and then do the update and enjoy the new camera That aside, not much to do. The X-T1 is quite good in the bug department and while we have had some record here and there, it certainly does not represent the whole majority of users. Oh and do read the online manual, there are a LOT of different settings and parameter to know when you want to user certain features. -
Tiffen & Fujifilm launched special New Edition of Domke Bags!
darknj replied to Patrick FR's topic in General Discussion
A specific bag for a specific brand of camera ? Meh... Not really liking the idea... Sounds a lot like marketing stuff to make you buy even more stuff that you don't really need. -
Just for my understanding, the focus is off on the ViewFinder only ? Or is it off, on both the LCD and output file ? If the later, then yeah, could be something wrong with the lens.

Fujifilm 2015 Financial Report Online: Good News for X-series!
darknj replied to Patrick FR's topic in General Discussion
I was at a wedding last week as second shooter, my SP1 printer was quite the attraction of a lot of the ppl around. In a world more and more often digital, almost nobody print pictures anymore. Even my own wedding pictures are not printed in a book. So when you hand out something physical there is something really novel about it. It feels good to have something small and durable and you can just put up on your fridge as memorabilia. -
The X-Trans sensor is one of the best ISOless sensor on the market. Technically, there are close of no noise differences if you take a picture at ISO 200 and bump it by 4 stops in LR or take it directly at ISO 3200. If the lightning is adjusted correctly, the end result will be the same. But for these kind of photography, you would have wasted half a dozen of mirrorless cameras, easily. Birding, is still something done, much more easier with a DSLR rather than with a mirrorless camera.

How wide is the zone ? 3*3 ? 3*5 ? There is a slight out of focus issues with zone focusing on Fuji bodies, sometimes, it will rather grab the focus on a point that you really don't want to use. I have seen that happening with pretty much all lenses, it's not a common thing tho, it just happens every now and then. My workaround for it, is to change to MF which is set to a single point focus, and use the AF-Lock button at the back to nail down the focus to at the spot I need and recompose the framing.

Well, since the ES only do a scan of the liveview to capture the image, it certainly will not break the mechanical shutter. As for the D800E camera, it's mostly a D800 with no AA or low pass filter. So a bit higher IQ but the expense of possible moirée issue when filming.

Fujifilm 2015 Financial Report Online: Good News for X-series!

I still find it rather funny that the whole imaging segment is actually not loosing too much money thanks to the sales of Instax related products. Not sure I would like to be in the shoes of the head of R&D department when he needs to go and negotiate budget for new lens/camera. -
if you are afraid of breaking your mechanical shutter, switch over to the electronic one, but do keep in mind the rolling shutter effect. But then again, with animals that moves that quick, you better NOT use a mirrorless camera, even the best of them would have serious issues at following the flight path of small birds.

Complete Overview over the available and upcoming Fuji X-Mount lenses
darknj replied to quincy's topic in Fuji X Lenses
The lens does look good, but I can not help bit cringe a little bit as soon as I saw "CCTV" lens... Never ever had any good experience with them. -
Could be a random glitch too, I got a small freeze this Sunday while covering an event, had to pull out the battery and slap it back in and everything was working again. Could have been my mistake as I am not sure I remember shutting the camera off when I was lens swapping.

My apologies but I did not understood your meaning. English is not my main language and I could be making mistake when posting, is there something that was incorrect in what I wrote ?

The rain I have to face is actually monsoon when I travel to Asia where the country is hot, very humid and when it rain, it's a freaking downpour. When it rains that much I don't shoot, but I need to be certain that the while I try to put the camera away safely, the rain will not cause any kind of damages. Part of the reasons I would change the lenses as less often as possible, having F1.8 zoom on DX format is quite interesting for me. The D800 and D3S are heavy pieces of bricks, I can hardly hold the D800 correctly, and it's even worse for the D3S. I really hate the D3S camera because the ergonomics are very bad for my hands. The D500 fits a lot more already, I was lucky enough to test it for a good chunk of time and from what I got from it, it has the form factor of D750 while retaining the weather sealing from D810, ie. it's tough, not as much as the D5 but still very tough and I can clearly abuse the camera in extreme weather. And the IQ I got from it is acceptable enough, the super ISO feature is also a much welcomed addition. The X-T1 6400 ISO file is really noisy, ideally, I would never shoot above ISO 3200 on Fuji, but the D500 would allow me to use up to a 25k ISO while retaining acceptable noise/detail balance even before the post processing.

Agreed :] But I really do get your point of view, but that heavy combo is quite interesting for low light moving subject, something that is currently very difficult on a Fuji system. In good light, Fuji all the way. The IQ is at the very least just as good, if not better, the whole gear is lighter and smaller, plus I grew quite fond of the Fuji film simulation. Anyway, I will wait for the Fuji X-T2 before I make any final judgement, but unless Fuji can provide me with a workhorse that can take quite the abuse, I will have to add the D500 to my set of tools.
