Very recent regulations concerning batteries have been put in place by US and UK for people coming from certain counties. But it only concerns the batteries. http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/21/news/airline-electronics-ban-middle-east-africa/

so, after the expensive “ automatic lens cap” Seen here http://www.fujirumors.com/new-lens-cap-solution-fujifilm-xf23mmf2-xf35mmf2/ Not too different from this other one really I have seen one of those crazy and useless gadgets too, a lens cap with the print of junk food , that is what any photographer really needs!

The way I understood this, they are saying that they were unable to comment on the query and were asking the person in charge, this person would contact OP at a later date and that it might take some time to reply due to holidays. I have some extensive trading experience with China ( I’ve also imported wooden view cameras from China many years ago!), Korea and Japan, normally they answer in some sort of English ( which often comes from an automatic translator anyway) and it requires some interpretation. I remember years ago when I bought a Wista 4” x5" ( made in Japan) view-camera it required my whole knowledge of this type of camera and a lot of imagination to make any sense of the translated “ instructions” which I can guarantee wouldn’t have been understood by a novice.

why not simply disabling the OIS? It is just a click away!

Careful Johan, In many languages there is a saying more or less sounding as : “ Don’t talk of rope in the house of the hangman “. ! This is an highly unpopular view! There are good chances that you are going to be called unspeakable names if you pursue your evil ways! Repent! Resistance is futile!

A diamond is forever. A camera... not quite so much. There is not even any need for programmed obsolescence ( the shutters of the X cameras are said to be programmed to cease working after 100.000 or maybe 200.000 actuations). Most cameras will be sold ( or kept as a backup which in most cases means no longer used) after 3 years tops which they are still perfectly working and delivering the same incredible results they were when they were the top of the market just a year ago!

This was my feeling too. I think that they were fair and square, the first time, but replacing the battery loader, once again, for free, would have not been justifiable by the fact that there are very good possibilities that it could have been broken by a faulty third party battery or all kinds of other reasons. How would they have known?
-
OK, sorry, I was still dialed on the complaint with Fuji which gives the title to this thread. As for third party materials. There is no telling about the quality. It can be good one day and bad the next. Most are sold by non-makers trading company which simply go to a trade fair and ask “ a company” ( which can be changed at will) to provide them with something with their logo on it. Third party parts have 0 guarantee and as far as I know nobody will ever replace a faulty item. But yes, they are very cheap. Another thing to think about is the new X cameras where overheating is not only possible but will happen for sure if you film or use the high performance focus tracking function. Those cameras ( which now includes the X-T20) better use the original Fuji.

I just wonder whether it is reasonable to expect Fuji to replace battery chargers “ ad infinitum” if they are not sure how they have been used by the customers. In other words, if OP could prove ( it is impossible to do so it is purely speculative and hypothetical) that he never used non original parts in his charger he might have a case, but if he has used non original parts in this original charger then Fuji is not doing anything unreasonable not wanting to replace it the second time FOR FREE.
-
I think that OP complains that Fuji didn’t want to replace the battery charger for free a second time (they apparently did replace it for free the first time... failing this a second time I suppose they might have suspected that OP had used it with non Fuji battery) and o the cost of an original battery charger. I don’t think the issue is using (or not) not original parts, per se.

Never understood the X-E2S myself and the entire shenanigan that was involved at the time with the lack of any upgrade for the X-E2 ( while all the rest of the cameras with interchangeable lenses did) and then at the same time releasing the firmware upgrade and the “ new” model! This time around the spacing is , clearly to make people buy because of lack of alternatives. So the first rush of X pro 2 ( no video improvement) came, lots of people bought them abut some had second thoughts. That was followed by the X-T2 which was bought for its video capability, but the camera needs a large battery holder to operate as intended. Then the X100F and the X-T20 ( the maverick). Now, creating suspense ... what will the next camera do and at what price? Will the X-E3 be just a X-Pro 2 without the OVF? Will it give video capability? Will it cost as little as the X-T20? Will it cost more? Patrick has announced ( unbearable suspense and drum roll) that Fuji is yet to release the Fuji X “ non plus ultra” Ultimate X camera a camera that will be WAY more expensive than any other X ( and then how do you top the un-toppable camera?). The introduction of the GFX has in any case set the limit. As long as that camera is there the X series will never (even if it were technically possible) anywhere near the performance of the GFX ( which is said already to be in future to have 100Mp or 200Mp).

My favorite camera bag is...
milandro replied to erreflower's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I am so happy with my Jill.E design Jack and that I’ve bought it when it was still available in the NL. Full leather bags ( especially large ones) of this quality don’t grow on trees and there is NO WAY that I would have spent the kind of money that you are talking about!. -
A “ sight” helps pointing your camera ( or your gun) armed with a long lens towards the “ target” quickly without ( I love this pun) “ hunting” the subject around. When you are shooting with your 100-400 at 400mm you should experience some difficulty in targeting a moving object like a bird. They talk about a similar product here (only there is no need of a laser “ red dot”) the sights alone will suffice! https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3009695

this is really one accessory for Fuji. For all those who look for a huge eyecup this has to be it! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/JJC-EF-XTLII-G-Viewfinder-Eyepiece-Eye-Cup-for-For-Fujifilm-X-T1-X-T2-Replaces/32783516755.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.159.Mf37VY&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10065_10068_10136_10137_10138_10060_10062_10141_10056_10055_10054_128_10059_10099_10103_10102_10096_10148_10052_10053_10050_10107_10142_10051_10143_10084_10083_10119_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10032_10078_10079_10077_10073_10070_10123_10120_10124,searchweb201603_1,afswitch_1_afChannel,ppcSwitch_5,single_sort_0_default&btsid=7f48cc72-4348-49bf-96da-00e72442feab&algo_expid=950caeb8-9e3b-4d2a-82f7-a14b392978d3-19&algo_pvid=950caeb8-9e3b-4d2a-82f7-a14b392978d3

Fanofuji ( perhaps the camera but not the company ), unfortunately this is the way the things go for many companies. Fuji is hardly alone and, in fact, from the many stories of replacements done even past the guarantee period they appear to be better than most. In your case they might have been stricter than otherwise. Try going directly to the main office of Tokyo. I have suggested this many times before and in several cases this helped. If I understand correctly they have replaced the battery charger one time for free? Then they refused to replace it a second time? Right or wrong. They must have thought that the lightning doesn’t strike twice all that often without a cause and that that might have been a reason for the charger to fail again. Like using third party batteries, I am sure that they might have thought that you were using a Fuji Charger with third party batteries? I know I’ve done that many times, so it wouldn’t be unusual. How could they possibly know that you didn’t? As for the price. Original parts are expensive, they always are and they are for every company. This is true of cars as it is true of watches or anything else. After all the colossal amount of money that goes in development, research, organization, advertising and promotion spent by any famous company could never be absorbed if parts wouldn’t cost way more than the cost price. If you buy a lens hood in China ( I’ve done that) they can cost less than $5 including shipping. A Fuji hood is a different kettle of fish. I have owned and used the 10-24 . It was one of my first lenses that I bought in the system, after the 35 1.4 and together with the 60mm. The lens was great and performed very well but I tended to use it only to the widest part of the spectrum. So, at some point, a friend of mine who was going to buy this lens anyway, bought if from me and with the money that I recuperated I bought a new 12mm Samyang ( I don’t really need autofocus at this focal length also because I go for total sharpness ) and a 18-55. After a while I was so impressed by the 18-55 that I decided to sell the 35mm. Anyway. I do, very occasionally, want to bridge the gap between 18-55 and 12 ( by the way I also own the 8mm Samyang fish eye) and for that reason I have considered buying a lens in between. I’ve also bought, and returned, the 16-55, great lens but too big for me. Anyway, I like extreme wideangles. The extremer the better. I don’t find the difference between 10 and 12mm too big and 14 would be also in that ballpark. So, If you never use the 10-24, sell it, but do consider a Samyang lens because that will give you enough cash to buy at least another lens.

Is it too early to start thinking about the X-T3?
milandro replied to Jake Hall's topic in General Discussion
It’s never too early to think about the future, we tend to live in hope, and I am sure that at Fuji they are already working on this. Secondhand X-T2 , the camera is only months old! My crystal ball tells me that the X-T3 will have more MP ( but of course we don’t want to jeopardize the Giant Fuji X-camera domination , although that one is about to double the pixel count to 100Mp) http://www.fujirumors.com/sony-officially-shows-new-medium-format-sensor-roadmap-cebit-100mp-bsi-sensor-fujifilm-gfx-100s/ and there will be more ISO sensitivity, let alone more AF points and faster autofocus. Organic sensor? Why not! As for IQ , despite the numerous claims, I am still not missing any on my X-T1, so I guess that you will be then able to print 2 x 6m while I can print only 1 x 3m . Shame on me! All the rest will be also “ vastly improved”, although if that would be at all perceptible by the human eye and by how much is still the lap of the gods. -
Certainly, Fuji sells to importers that aren’t their distributors. These importers are not doing anything that Fuji doesn’t want to be done, or illegal.

looking good is important, I love looks, but it is hell of an added mass for good looks and only front grip. Seriously all they would have to do is incorporate a shaped lateral rail gliding in the Arca and then there would be way more function together with looks.
