Just took a look, it looks like yours Macro but stayed on perfectly. Azmount, I didn’t try another one after buying the long eyecup but who knows, if I feel experimental I’ll buy something like that and see how it goes.
-
despite the difference shown by Macro, my original eyecup never came off and , as said before, I really had to use some force to extract it before replacing it with the extended eyecup. I would have preferred if the Fuji extended eycup would have looked something like this Sony one

so you are talking about a X camera with a 1” sensor? 12,80mm x 9,60mm ( approximately half the size of the X trans which is 23.6 x 15.6mm) I don’t understand the advantage of this other than it would be a camera for a completely different client than the Fujifilm X system has at the moment. To me, if anything, the Fuji X system involvement is showing that the brand is moving away from that kind of market segment completely!

Yes, vibrations too, still, I’d save my money and get an aluminum tripod.

Xpro1 still worth buying? (06.15)
milandro replied to drb's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
@Mac Sinclair “ the new firmware works...” of course you are aware of the fact that the X Pro 1 didn’t get firmware 4.0 ( which is the NEW firmware that everybody is talking about) so if by “ new firmware” you mean the last updated firmware that you can install on your camera that is dated December 2014, that is hardly NEW! Other than that, well done, good luck! -
There are many tripods out there and yet there will be none that can tick all the boxes for everyone under every circumstances. I had a couple of these of old tripods already and I have simply updated two old tripods, one monopod and bought a gorillapod when I re-entered photography with the X system. The best way to save money is not spending it to buy things that you already have or that you might not need. After buying a Sunaway L bracket Arca compatible, I bought a ball head and a few quick release, arca-clone, clamps. The ball head ( Beike) had already an arca clone clamp on it but it was one just painted black and I have changed it with one anodized black ( I didn’t throw out the one that came with the beike ball head, but I have put that one on a very old Linhof ball head which I’ve used on a gorilla pod), which is much better, for all the rest the ball head is perfect. The first tripod to get the rejuvenation treatment was an old Manfrotto 190SHB. This is now my all purpose tripod. it can be used very low to the ground or its column can be quickly be inverted so that the camera can be mounted upside down , however for that kind of purpose the best, lightest and quickest option is to use the gorilla pod ( which I can carry inside my Jill.E Jack large messenger bag which is large enough to carry that without interfering with my camera stuff) with its linhof ball head. Just in case I need something heavier ( I already had this so I didn’t have to buy it), I have a rather heavy, beautiful wooden tripod sold by Hama but made by Berlebach ( with a central invertible column with an articulated ball joint at the base of the column). This tripod can be articulated in many different ways but the invertible column containing the ball joint makes it possible to use it without any head if you have a L bracket on the camera and put an arca clamp on the tripod, so you save a little on weight. This is a very heavy combination but don’t be fooled by the idea that you can make a long exposure with a lightweight tripod on a windy night! You can’t! Carbon fibre is nice but I have always preferred to save my money because you spend a lot for carbon fibre but really you save very little weight. As a monopod I had an ancient one by Stiz, I added one of the arca-clone clamps to it and now it is perfectly working ( doubles as a self defense device too )

I am not sure that you can say that the firmware update has made a new lens out of the 60mm. Probably not. It has made it more pleasant to use to me, but I owned the lens already. If I had to buy it again I would, also for its “ macro” capability which the 56 doesn’t possess but I am not a member of the bokeh club.

aside the fact that there is already a specific thread called Any news about a FW 4.0 update on the E2? http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/27-any-news-about-a-fw-40-update-on-the-e2/page-6 Fuji-Rumors reported a rumor where some software update for the X-E2 will come in about 6 months ( or longer), so you many have 5 more months to wait. http://www.fujirumors.com/kaizen-fujifilm-x-e2-firmware-update-coming-in-about-6-months-x-t1-firmware-4-0-coming-june-22/

How have you modified/accecorized your XT-1?
milandro replied to Exiled's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
You are probably aware of the fact that the X-T1 is somewhat limited in the choice of both soft release button and thumb rest? Due to the camera configuration, most of the many cheap versions of both these products do not fit the camera. The Lolumina addresses the problem of the lack of a threaded button on the camera where you might insert the one of the so many cheap ones on the market, and to be honest it is cheap itself. Remember, whichever button you buy, to block the thread with a drop of thread locker such as Loctite 222 ( low strength is plenty in this case) and the button will not unscrew itself. Much the same situation for the thumb rest. Because of the way the camera is, a thumb rest which uses the hot shoe has to accommodate fort the EVF “ Bump” following its shape and , if you want it to be positioned anywhere useful, needs being very long with the consequent need of a point where, on the opposite side of the hot shoe and under your thumb, it leans on the camera. If you don’t have that and use a “ universal” configuration meant for a smaller camera with no “ bump” on top you end up with something too short , way too exposed to be caught into something and not at all comfortable! So, In practice, the “ Lensmate”specific for the X-T1 is probably the best for the job but it is very expensive by any standard! However even if this is the best product, and addresses all the design problems that other cheaper and so called universal products do not address, in my view still fails to offer any real comfort because the position where it really needs to be is exactly where Fuji has placed its thumb rest ridge on the camera! -
My review of the Samyang 8mm fisheye on the Fuji X-E2
milandro replied to EyesUnclouded's topic in Fuji X Lenses
there is a thread where you can see several images made with this lens and, in fact, I think the two threads should be merged http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/696-fuji-fisheye/?hl=samyang -
Great lens and one can do a lot with it, you can use it by purposefully enhancing its natural distortion or using it for image where you will hide its nature in the context
-
I had to use some force to get the original one off, never understood how so many people lost those, there must have been something wrong about a bad batch
-
I too would say that it is nice but it is certainly not indispensable.
-
I have the long eyecup. Is good but I expected more isolation from parasite light. It's ok ,could have been better . No problem whatsoever in installing and using and there is no separation.

Perhaps better to have sections otherwise the post titles would be more about where to ship than about what you sell Having sections such as EU US Asia Australasia and all over the world So if you only sell in one you post in that only and if you want to sell all over the world you post there Very simple.
-
I think that this would be a valued addition to the forum, but, given the level of price differences between countries , the hefty shipping charges, the need to insure the goods and the various percentages of VAT ( on average some 20%) applicable throughout Europe (plus the inexplicable “ handling through customs” fees applied by national postal services or couriers) this would only be realistically feasible if we would have a regional splitting. So US, EU, Rest of the world. Of course different items are affected in a different way from costs. I can send easily and reasonably cheaply a camera or a lens within Europe or the NL where I live but if becomes complicated to send a registered envelope containing a thumb rest ( or a strap) to Australia because the shipping costs are so high that they make the operation void of any significance.
-
If you know what you are looking for there are thousands of cheap alternatives if you only look on aliexpress, miniinthebox, lightinthebox

I have a friend who owns an international company involved in the trade of airplane parts, compared to some airplane parts, the cost of a lensmate is peanuts but let’s be serious, airplane parts are entrusted with human lives! Different territory!

yes, let’s wait few more months reading any comment though is not compulsive and can be easily skipped as if it weren’t there, my comments were a direct answer to a problem and a question directly related to the X-E2 en the performance of the macro lens on this camera which hasn’t, yet, received any improvements in its performance. Meanwhile, to appreciate any improvement in the 60mm performance you need the new software, otherwise one cannot see any improvement. Although some people say that there was no improvement even with the software I beg to differ. Having the benefit of the new software, I am under the impression that its performance was improved.

I use the same vented hood which others use for the 35 ( the original is nice but a pain in the neck with its rubber cap forever coming off!). The 60mm macro alternative to its HUGE lens hood required a complex arrangement including a B+W 39mm UV filter used as a spacer (otherwise the lens autofocus malfunctions) and a 39>52 adapter with a short ( normally used for a 35 or 50mm) 2 cm deep, cylindrical, with a front diameter of 58mm where I use a lens cap for this size. Complex but made this lens way more usable.

The ways of marketing work in mysterious and wondrous ways... We’ll get there when we’ll get there not a minute before or later. Since we were kids we know that asking “ are we there yet ? “ won’t make the car go any faster.

Fujifilm half leather case
milandro replied to GAZ57's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
great minds... ... the thing is that by its own nature the design of the X-T1 is not the most suitable to use an half case. There are too many parts needing access to ( battery, card, moving LCD screen) which only leaves the bottom ( and if you want to put the camera on a tripod or monopod you need quick shoe of some sort...) -
Photokina 2016? they do need something “ new” there

Fujifilm half leather case
milandro replied to GAZ57's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
Let me reiterate my advise, while I invite you to not automatically discount the omnipresent cheap Chinese halfcases, because they might be adequate to your purpose. I invite you to consider this. The protection and extra confort of any of the halfcases for the X-T1 are questionable at best. You really should ask yourself whether a little leather that improves no grip and offers little to no protection to the camera, is worth the cost and fuss. Please consider one of the so many (there are more now than there were one year ago) L brackets, at the very least they offer you tripod connection which is generally difficult or impractical with an halfcase while offering you a more than adequate protection ( not worse) than any halfcase. On top of that they have front grip which is not normally featured in leather halfcases (with maybe two exceptions). Good Luck! -
