I was a Lightroom user until year 2015, switched to Capture One. I am very happy with its color reproduction, editing style.

 

Recently, I tried the RAW FILE CONVERTER EX 2.0 powered by SILKYPIX provided by FujiFilm on its web.

 

I did not complete a formal and thorough comparison, I just load a RAW file into both Capture One and Silkypix, set them both at default settings and certain profile which I think look the best, without touching anything else, eg exposure, details.

 

I am totally surprised by the image quality produced by Silkypix, a lot of micro-contrast and very punchy 3D look.

 

Though the interface is not quite intuitive as Capture One. Also it is simplified version, some important features are missing. I am going to stay on Capture One.

 

I suggest anyone to try it for once! It is free.

I was looking for an image on my laptop yesterday and opened a RAF folder. Widows 10 immediately started processing the files to icons and I walked off wishing I could find a way to turn that off. Came back after 10 minutes, possibly less, to find all rendered into thumbnails and I could run them thru silky pixels to get 4x6s, wife wanted samples, on a wireless printer (Kodak Verite) pretty damm good for a casual attempt. All the control seem to be there, just in unusual places.

Here's the TIFF created by loading the RAF into Lightroom, and then converting to DNG (TIFF) with X-Transformer from Iridient

You've got some haze and what looks like a bit of aberration going on messing with the fine detail of the roofs and buildings, so it's not going to get razor sharp, but still looks very nice. And using X-Transformer as a Lightroom plugin has been way way easier for me than trying to wrangle a whole different program for editing.

      Searching for a decent day to day walkabout camera bag

      I know this is highly subjective. but -- I have the GFX 50s ii plus the kit lens. This is my start up. Given the larger size relative to the Fuji X line up, I am having a bit of problem figuring out what camera bag to get. I was hoping for something I could carry with me day to day that is not too cumbersome but, can hold the camera with lens attached and some accessories or with an additional lens. I am trying to keep bulk down but wish to avoid overly snug cases. Any help would be appreciated on what to investigate *and* what to avoid. Much thanks in advance.

      Hey,  update from my side. I decided to hand in the voigtlander for repair just at the end of my warranty. It was in for more than 2 months. Just got it back. Works perfect now. Repair ticket says: recalibration lens. So: no Fuji issue but a voigtlander issue.   greetings  bert

      In the menu Setup => Screen Setting menu under Disp. Custom Setting you can control what appears in the LCD screen. And yes the 1142 is an estimate of images remaining (you can get rid of that as well if you don't want it)

      No but its easy enough to ignore them Thats for the touch screen - if you don't want to use it go into the Setup => Button/Dial Setting menu and turn it off IBIS for stills is controlled in the Shooting menu under IS Mode - you can choose Continuous or Shooting Only

      I had lusted for the X100VI for months. I am going to Japan in November, and after lugging my main camera and lenses around Europe for 25 days last month (Hasselblad X2D), and being 71, I decided it was time to get a new, affordable street/documentary camera. I logged on to BH and lo and behold, found a black on immediately. I have had it for three days and have some questions/comments: --I can't foresee ever using the video features. Is there any way to delete them from the menus? --I find the menus to be, to put it nicely, almost impossible to wade through and interpret. Reminds me a lot of my wife's Lexus--great car, poor user interface. So my question is: is there any way to delete some of the data presented on the LCD screen--specifically, along the top where I see "4K29.97" and "5h10m30s"? I assume the "1142" I see just to the right along the top refers to how many images I can record on my SD card? And there is a little window on the right that says "Shot". What does it refer to and can I delete it? --And one more if I may--IBIS. It looks to me like IBIS only works with the Video side of the camera, not still photography. Is that correct? I can't figure out how to activate it for still photography. If I can solve these issues it would be a big help. I've gone through the entire 360-page digital manual but I haven't found answers to these questions.   Thanks in advance, Steve
