New Flash for Fuji Announced: Metz 44 AF-2! Full Specs
johant replied to Patrick FR's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
Metz already have it on their website. Search for Fujifilm X-Pro1 and they point you to the 44 AF-2. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
Weirdest special offer for a X Pro 1

Fujifilm might have too many cameras covering broadly the same segment? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
Weirdest special offer for a X Pro 1

My ideal choice for a starter lens kit would be the 18mm and 35mm, covering moderate wide angle and the normal perspective. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
In the meantime I got a response from Fujifilm Germany ... the only difference between the two lenses is the improvement in the image stabilisation. The OIS II is rated for 3.5 stops. Apart from that, the lenses are identical.

I'd never buy a lens from a seller who is not within driving distance.

Too much competition from abroad?

Given how large the RAW files and JPEGs (Fine) from a 16MP camera already are, I'll probably pass on anything larger. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I paid €170 for the 50-230. I'd say that is acceptable for a "vacation tele zoom". I use short primes most of the time anyway. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

X-T1, X-T2, X-Twhatever, I don't care ... as long as Fuji gives us good glass.

Sounds like overkill ... the MCEX-16 extension tube works nicely though (here at 50mm).

A bit more reach would be nice but here are some first shots (50% crops):

What is your X-E3 wish list?
johant replied to bhu's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
I would not want to miss the exposure compensation dial there! I'd rather put the ISO selection on a Fn button. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
X100T Firmware Update

Because not much is happening? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
Held the lens in my hands, tested it on my X-E1, and indeed the AF is fast enough for me (indoors), and the lens does not feel "cheap". I don't like the plastic lens mount, and the rear lens cap is a joke (how much more would a real cap cost?), but the lens does what it should do, and you can't argue the price (€170 with 2 years warranty). So I'm the owner of a XC 50-230 lens now. Purpose is to use it as a "zoo zoom", and to see how well it works with the MCEX-16 extension ring. Btw, mine is the "OIS II" version, so it should have the improved OIS?

Here are some examples from the 35/1.4 and the MCEX-16 extension tube, connected to my X-E1. All pictures were handheld ... I should make it a habit to take a monopod or tripod with me! (as you can see, the pictures are cropped a bit)

Foka sells the lens alone (without a camera) for €170 at the moment Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll make the jump for that price ... if it doesn't feel right, I can always return it (and they give 24 months warranty).

This lens is for sale in various camera outlets (like the Foka outlet store) right now. There are two things I'm worried about: - how is the mechanical construction quality, given that even the mount is plastic? - how is the AF at the long end on a X-E1, given the small aperture (f/6.7)? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I had a Canon 50/1.4 on my 5D. I love the X-Pro1 & 35/1.4 combination much more. My Canon lens was really soft wide open, and suffered more from CA. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

A 24mm would be good then ... but the good 24mm lenses are not cheap! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

True, the 27mm gives a 40mm FOV. But AFAIK the focal reducers are 1.3x as well? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
-
There is not that much difference between a 35mm and 40mm FOV, in my opinion, and the 27/2.8 is an optically very good lens. It's very small as well, and can easily be found for a good price. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

How do you store your camera and lenses when not in use?
johant replied to rickytj's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Get a camera bag ... or wait until someone knocks your gear off the table. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
X-pro2 launch, keep or sell your x-pro1?
johant replied to drb's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
True. Which is why you need to pick up the camera in person, and should bring a laptop (with a card reader) with you. I agree with you that buying without having the chance to inspect it first is risky with electronics. You were right not to buy that X-Pro1, I believe. OTOH; when I bought my Canon 5D in 2010, I paid €800. I sold it again last month for €300. So that camera cost me about €100 per year, which probably is much lower than if I had bought it new. So while buying used is somewhat riskier, it's also cheaper in the long term, in my opinion. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
