  1. No grip for me, I don't need the boost or battery life. I'd only use it for portrait shoots, but the new grip is just too ugly and heavy and expensive to bother with that.
  2. The newer lenses, like the 50-140 and the 35 f2, focus so much faster even than the older generation, that the gap with like a Nikon D500 should be far less pronounced, if even noticeable at all anymore.
  3. The differences are so minor that mostly it doesn't matter anymore. I tried Capture One so many times, but I'm just sooooo much faster and better in Lightroom, that I can't be bothered with C1 anymore. Theoretical sharpness is great, but speed is much more important to me in my post flow...
  4. I use 2 of these, so far no issues on my side.
  5. Epic eyebrows
  6. Yes, definitely pass. Mold is something you just can't get rid off, no matter how often and how well you wash it, it will be back.
  7. At that distance from your subject, f2.8 is plenty of dof. And yes, anything sporty or toddler related requires usually 1/1000 or faster
  8. My 6x6 Hasselblad can barely keep up with my X100T with slow speed film, and it's nowhere close at anything over iso 800... I still shoot film, but for the process, the deliberate slowing down and the colours in films like Portra. That's about it. If I need to do serious work, I go for the digital gear...
  9. This will put the whole company thing in perspective: Sony: http://www.forbes.com/companies/sony/ Canon: http://www.forbes.com/companies/canon/ Fujifilm: http://www.forbes.com/companies/fujifilm-holdings/ Nikon: http://www.forbes.com/companies/nikon/ Let's not forget these are not small companies. They can pretty much do whatever they want, depending if they think there is money to be made by doing so...
  10. Thing about shooting in mountains, I find, is it's more about time of day and patience. Waiting for and finding the proper light will be way more important than having this or that lens attached...
  11. If you like manually focussing, check out lens tabs at http://www.lenstab.com/ I have them on all lenses that don't have a big chunky focus ring, like the 35 f2. Works great.
  12. Definitely do that, that's not a common malfunction.
  13. Yes, it takes getting used to, but I much prefer this too. Also, please people, stop calling it "innovative push button", my old E-M1 already had this years ago
  14. X-T2, 56 1.2 APD. Eye autofocus on the new X-T2 is amazing, it's now better than I am using single AF point on the eye... Ignore the double post, I need to check some sharpening settings. Fuji forum tends to show my pics very unsharp I noticed. Let me know what you think of sharpness?
  15. Is the grip making proper contact to the body? And just to be sure, you removed the rubber seal from the contact points on the bottom of the cam? I had it couple of times on my X-T1 grip that it was just a little loose and thus didn't find the grip. Does the cam show you 3 batteries? Or just the one? That should be the first thing to check.
  16. For the odd portrait, a 35mm should be good enough as well wide open, as long as you remember to keep an eye on the background for framing. I never travel with anything over 56mm, unless it's specifically a photo trip where I'll be alone and have time to shoot. For a body as small as possible, consider just a prime. I prefer 23 to 35 range, but that's whatever suits your style most. I wouldn't bother with a grip for travel. The 16-55 should be fine for almost anything, if you can add one fast prime to that for late night and dark spaces. Enjoy the trip! That part of the globe is still very high on my wishlist...
  17. True, if you want the X100 series, best bet is to wait for the next version.
  18. Try face/eye autofocus af auto. I tried it yesterday to shoot a toddler and my hit rate was astoundingly high, which I did not expect at all. It's now perfectly useable for portraits. I do agree that the joystick could be a tad faster than it currently is.
  19. Returning and happy customers are an investment too, one that seems to work for Fuji.
  20. Because Fujifilm is not Canon, Nikon or Sony. They take care of their customers.
  21. I second the 100-400. I always found myself wanting more reach, those rare times when I shot wildlife.
  22. Many are dumping their X-Pro 2's for the X-T2, so consider that with the new 23mm f2 or other prime as well.
  23. I have the X-T2 and the X100T. Between the X100T and X-T1, it was an even contest. But the X-T2 with a small prime just shows how slow the X100T is in comparison. I'd at least wait for the X100T successor if you want an X100 form factor.
  24. Been there, done that
  25. Benefit of a focal plane shutter is that you can always go back to a leaf shutter, the inverse it not possible. I still use an old Hasselblad 503cw, and they also went with a focal plane shutter for their next generation of cams back in the day, while keeping compatibility with the existing lenses. If Fujifilm releases one wide and one telephoto lens with leaf shutter, this whole hissyfit will be over.
