  1. Thanks for that info Larry. I do agree that Fuji has a serious professional presence with their lenses, and that tools are relatively cheap compared to what they used to be (BMPCC etc). However I am looking at the likes of Canon which has implemented good video options (ie you can use Cinestyle profiles to reduce clipping) to where Fuji can grow. Canon/Sony/Pansonic - the 3 bigger players in the hybrid market all have professional lines they need to protect (although Sony and Panasonic (especially Panasonic with the release of V-Log) have been very generous to the lower end of the market) - which is why I believe Canon has been so tight with jumping to 4K, and crippling the 80D. I must admit I wanted 4K for extra clarity when down-scaled, however my iPhone now has it - and to be honest I would actually rather far better dynamic range (not possible with the sensor size) and being able to use DOF to your advantage. Fuji X series has amazing glass and produces brilliant colour - it's a potential match made in heaven. Maybe I am dreaming of RAW 1080P, or even 1080P jpegs @24 or 30fps. Fuji does however need to implement more features. Even the X-Pro2 you cannot control the highlight/shadow tone like you can in photo mode....! This is a huge oversight. They really need to be putting in a "flat" (or similar to cinestyle) to really capture some interest from the hobbyist video crowd. Maybe this isn't what fuji is after, but from what I've read there are lots of people interested in a solid hyrbid platform - fuji nails Stills - they just need to get solid video. I would most likely shift to another system in the next couple of years if a better options arises (Nikon is making solid inroads). I refuse to give up the EVF though hahah.
  2. I for one hope Fuji keeps improving their video quality. This got me thinking, canon has the popular hack of Magic Lantern which enables full 14bit raw recording (albeit at lower realities and for limited time). However Fuji raw files are massive, but their jpegs rule. I wonder if Fuji has considered implemented a similar approach (ie 1080p jpegs at 24fps, or higher resolution and frame rates). And then maybe a incamera to stitch them together for people who want it right then. This is probably very niche, but Fuji doesn't have any video line to protect like most of the other companies. I really don't want to have two sets of cameras and lenses etc.
  3. Or am I just being too fussy haha? Note it actually looks a bit better above than it does blown up.
  4. Hi all, I am not sure if this is an issue that I the photographer am making, or if it's an issue with my lens? Normal shots are awesome and its a great lens. However I am getting into cityscapes/long exposure, and I am noticing really ugly blown highlights with squiggles around them. This was shot at F/20, but even at larger apertures I have noticed this affect also. Maybe its adobe lightroom? Thoughts?
  5. Hi all How well do you think Fuji will implement 4K video into the up and coming xpro2 and x-t2? I am personally all for Fuji developing solid video performance in their lineup, as many of the features help with stills also (fast sensor read out, faster processing and focussing etc etc). If so what would you guys want? I would want: Quality in the realm of the Sony rx100 v4 to the gh4. A flat log profile to maximise dynamic range. 100mbps recording at a minimum A decent codec (h.265 with the new sensor etc?) Solid autofocus performance Let us tell Fuji what we would like!
  6. That's an interesting point that Fuji could be doing some hocus pocus in the background . But if they can doing +1/-1 bracketing then I don't see why they cannot offer more. If it's due to processing power I don't buy that either - as the xt1 and even the xt10 (for a second) can shoot 8fps. I would be happy even if it took 30seconds or so to process the buffer of whatever.
  7. Hey guys Firstly I love Fuji, and believe they are awesome for unleashing the most out of their gear through various big firmware updates. However I cannot understand why Fuji keep ignoring the poor +1/-1 exposure bracketing!!! Seriously; there is no reason not to enable more, I'd imagine a simple line or two of code. People have been asking for a long time, yet they seem almost insistent in ignoring this? Even though I don't like the super HDR shot, it can be very handy under difficult lighting to capture the best exposure. Thoughts?
  8. Wow thanks for the fantastic comparison! I'll have to have a closer look tomorrow. Cheers!
