  2. I offer a piece of sage advice: if any of your new gear isn't completely and entirely second-nature to you by the event date, leave it home. Your X-E3 will do a fine job. While different Fujifilm cameras have vast similarities, they are not identical, especially if your new camera body is an SLR form-factor. You can't go wrong with additional lenses, but be very clear to yourself which lens you will reach for in any given situation, or it's then just analysis paralysis on the fly. Fujifilm's XF zooms have great image quality, and will give you great images once you get the light worked out in the venue. My professional wedding photography career began and ended the same night in 2004 when by my best friends hired me to photograph their wedding. I bought new Nikon gear (an F100, N80, four lenses, and four flashes) for the event, but my practice time got used up on a heart attack and two surgeries. My familiar Nikon FE was unserviceable, so I took the new gear to the event, literally not knowing how to operate the unfamiliar electronic features, and suffering indecisiveness on lens selections. I shot 40 rolls of film that night, all of which looked like Kodak snapshots. I have never forgiven myself for failing my best friends, and to punish myself, I never further pursued professional photography. Dennis Green, a former American football coach once said "when opportunity knocks, you gotta have your bags packed". I found that to be true, but new photo gear comes in black cardboard boxes, not packed bags. On the brighter side, Congratulations! Prepare well, and make good on the honor your friends bestowed on you. If anybody gets this right, it's gotta be the Fuji Guy, right?

  4. If you can get a good deal and the focal length and aperture work for you, why not? The image quality is great as with virtually all of Fuji's lenses, and it's very well corrected (has little distortion for such a wide lens). A great and unique focal length for environmental portraits. It's one of the older ones so while I wouldn't call it "slow", it isn't as blazing fast to focus as others. That, plus the fact that it has no weather sealing and it's a little slow in f-stop for a wide prime of that size. It's essentially the same size as some of the primes that are two stops faster. For me personally, there are just more attractive options for wide angle X mount lenses. But as I said, if the focal length and f-stop and price work for you, you'll find very few reasons to be upset with this lens.

    Firmware 3.10 (X-T3)

There are two reasons that minimum ISO is limited to 640 - using DR 400 and using F-LOG for movie

    Custom Profiles

Film simulation is just one piece of a Custom Setting. When you select a Custom Setting, you are loading the entire Custom Setting into the camera. All of the many parts of that Custom Setting --- film simulation, white balance, highlight tones, shadow tones, color saturation, noise reduction, sharpening, DR, etc. -- will replace whatever your camera had been set to. When you change the film simulation, that changes just the film simulation, without changing anything else. You just need to set up a "standard" Custom Setting. It's probably most convenient to put that in C1.

    Custom Profiles

There is a difference between Film Simulation and Custom Profile - changing the Film Simulation doesn't automatically change the Custom Profile. If you want the different settings for different Film Simulations then set up different Custom Profiles.

  9. I found the solution: set ISO on A, ISO dial setting (A): command (not auto)
