Jerryy, Greybeard, interesting thoughts. I’d never consider not keeping the raws + their edits (in my case in C1). I make the jpegs from them as needed for a particular use (like for printing at a certain size on a certain paper or for the web etc.) I think of them as disposable or single-purpose files. But your post makes me wonder what will happen when me and/or my C1 is no longer there, when no one is there to continue using the images this way. I should start making an archive in some generally useful jpeg version (or teach at least one of my three sons to use my C1 environment so that they can get to the images they may want in the future). In the older days (before Fujifilm, on Canon) that is what I did (I mean the general jpegs besides keeping the raw). In the excitement from the journey from Canon to mirrorless, X-Trans, all the different raw sw (Silkypix etc. etc.), up to current C1 with the fantastic possibilities and image quality… this aspect got out of my sight.1 point

Brilliant. Thank you so much for such helpful comments and suggestions. Yes, if been looking at the lenses by Fujifilm, Samyang and TT/7artisans among others and there appears to be plenty of choice. Try before you buy would be ideal but I don't think there's any retailers near me. And sorry, should have added I'm using Mac OS (Monterey). I'll have a look at the software you mentioned. Thank you 👍1 point -
Interesting thoughts - but isn’t heif really an alternative to jpg rather than raw?1 point

You already know the grand scheme of things: an obscenely beautiful landscape, gorgeous weather and a clueless lucky tourist hastily snapping away quick shots on a family holiday. But I will post a few more, I reckon it would be wrong not to share the incredible beauty of these mountains. The Sella Towers.1 point

Thanks, Merlin, you are kind. I switched quietly from the Alps to the Dolomites. This is the Sella Ronda area. The shots are not as good as they ought to be for the beautiful scenery - I had no polariser or GND filter with me, I was in a hurry with the others always waiting for me etc. These are just quick tourist-like shots with the X-T10. Some are from quite high up and so there is a lot of blue cast on them. I am going there again in March and I hope for good weather again.1 point

I knew, I just KNEW when I posted that thought, it would come back and get me! Right now, where I am at, we have more of this: than this: but you are right, I accept the challenge! As soon as feasible I will out there trying to get some good ones that have snow. In the mean time I still have some more Fall Color shots1 point

The distant high peak is Monte Antelao (3264m), further to the right (invisible) is Marmolada (3343m). I rather like this one. Looks like a nicely peaceful scene, but if you want to see what the conditions were really like, have a look at this (with sound on !). It was freezing cold, I could hardly operate my poor camera.1 point
