I agree, it will not show up soon... or maybe at all... but I'm gonna stick to Fuji Lenses. I have the 56 and just tried the 90 for the first time at the store and loved the feel, balance, focus speed, close focusing, and sharpness... so gonna get it soon (missed the sale). That should tide me over... hehe

On this eBay lot it looks a bit different then picture on FR from February 27, 2015. There is hood mount, and "0.95" on DOF scale. Other then that it still looks like Mitakon.

While pictures on Meyer-Optik are still showing slightly different body design, though same size : )

But at that weight and with 10 instead of 9 aperture blades, it would still have to be the old version of the speedmaster. Meanwhile, MOG says "Made in Germany", and on their page, it looks very different. Perhaps they have a cooperation with Mitakon, like HandeVision and Kipon?

I've updated the OP.

Good point, it looks like Mark I - Mitakon 35mm 0.95

I think we should be careful with all that modern "Made in Germany" things. There are actually not so many plants in Germany.

It's quite easy to register physical company address and re-use one of old brand. But it looks like the real plant (so real "made in" ) is in China.

I've met similar approach before in other product areas (knifes, kitchenware, binoculars). When you read "made in Germany", etc. but there are no real plant.

And later you can find exactly same production pictures online on Chinese factories.

I know, Chinese plants can produce very high quality products, and it's fine when Mitakon is sold for $600. But in this particular case the extra +$1180 is taken just for sign "made in Germany" and fancy cardboard box with German office address.

I've explored this morning and realized that actual company name is Globell Deutschland, they just purchased "Meyer-Optik" name.

And every lens they have in their list looks like is a clone of corresponding Chinese or Russian lens (BTW, some of that Russian lens are also produced in China in fact).

There are plenty information online, most valid suggestions I've found on different forums:

  • Figmentum 35mm f/2 = Zhongyi Mitakon 35mm f/2
  • Figmentum 85mm f/2 = Zhongyi Mitakon 85mm f/2
  • Nocturnus 35mm f/0.95 = Zhongyi Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 Mark I
  • Nocturnus 50mm f/0.95 = Zhongyi Mitakon 50mm f/0.95

Found one interesting statement on one forum: "Current rules mean that products can be labelled as “Made in Germany” even if more than 90 percent of the work in making them takes place in other countries." : )

Maybe Globell Deutschland order that two listed lens from other Chinese manufacturer, based on their blueprints. It'd be interesting to discover more details, will try to research.

Well, explored more details about new Trioplan 100mm 2.8 . I didn't find any other manufacturer, so probably this lens is not just "repainted" and "re-tested" samples from Zhongyi or other brand. It could be that new Trioplan 100mm 2.8 is really assembled by Globell. However it's definitely overpriced, like corresponding Nocturnus/Figmentum  lens.

Probably Globall disassemble and test each imported sample before put "Made in Germany" sign, and looks like it's legal approach in Germany. If that's true - that should increase price a bit comparing to Mitakon, but not 2x-3x times like it is now : )

Thanks for searching! Maybe we'll have to wait until they are released, and perhaps, after a while, chinese "clones" might turn up. Or not.

I also think they are pretty pricey, but at least the Trioplan and the Trimagon are unique lenses, with unique features (in the digital age).

I've added two new drop-in optics for the lensbaby system to the OP: 12mm f/4 fisheye and 60mm f/2.5 twist.

It may happen that marketing trick with Mitakon clones is used to raise some more money in addition to the kickstarter.

If there are photographers that prefer to buy re-tested and inspected Mitakon selected from few samples, and so labeled "Made in Germany" for extra price - there are nothing wrong about such approach.

There are a lot of "lab photos" of Trioplan 100mm 2.8 posted on Globall FB page: http://facebook.com/meyeroptikgoerlitzEN

Sorry, but I'll never call that Globall company or their overpriced lens "Meyer-Optik", that brand is connected to the factory passed in history, and I personally don't think it's right to speculate on that.

There are also brands on market that may sound like German, but in fact they are Japanese production, with also nice quality. However currently that items are often priced like old German collection items.

Just imagine what could be with "rebranded" cameras:

I like this quest, found another interesting offer:

The Jackar 34mm f1.8 Snapshooter lens http://snapshooter.jackarlens.com/eng/pageOverview.php

And here's a review: http://www.thephoblographer.com/2013/02/27/review-jackar-snapshooter-34mm-f1-8-micro-four-thirds/#.VyEbWZ5-LQo

X-mount was not available at the time of the review. And now it's only $129, with free shipping.

It seems to be the same as a Fujian f1.7 CCTV lens.

And then there are some Wesleys 34mm ff1.7 (search on ebay).

Sorry for the late response. I've added the Jackar Snapshooter to the list&chart. It's getting very crowded in the relatively-slow-aperture-normal-focal-lenght lens range.

I'm not sure about the Fujian CCTV lens. http://www.lensporn.net/2011/12/review-fujian-35mm-f17-c-mount-cctv.html

Might be, but the C-mount version can be bought for about $35, which would make the Jackar look very expensive in comparison.

Great contribution, Thank You!

I've added your video review to the list, and added some data to the stats-list that I got from your video (12 aperture blades, 0.3 m close focus distance).

Do you know if the 25 mm also has 12 aperture blades? And do you know the maximum magnification of the 35 mm? You mentioned and showed severe focus breathing, which is always my reason not to simply calculate the magnification.
