Here some street shots I took during my bicycle journey in the Indian Himalaya:

The photos were taken with my X-T1. I really learned to love the flip screen for candid street shots. Unfortunately the 55-200 is way too slow for nearly everything that is faster than a snail, so some nice pictures were out of focus...

Unfortunately you can not ad more than 500 KB to one post.... So because of this there are only 2 pics for the first time...

Greetings

Harry

Hi again,

is there an easy method to post several pics at once? It's pretty time consuming to export each picture several times because each shot comes out of "Aperture 3" in different sizes every time.

And the last one for today.

ISO 3200 - pretty clean low-noise result even on the big screen.

And I like the two blue spots together with the greenish wall...

Some of them i really like!

And i try to look at them as if there was no "water mark" ... but it IS hard ..

Hi,

Thanx a lot!

Are the watermarks really that bad....? I just feel better protecting the pictures a little bit.

Greetings

  • 2 weeks later...

Great work! Particularly the last four shots.  And yes, the watermarks are that bad, the last shot in colour being the most visible.

O.k., you're right...!

Is this better?

O.k., I just realized that this thread is not so 100% indian anymore, since Oman and England are not so much part of India nowadays. I was obviously distracted by a mobile phone.

Maybe I should change it into travel-streetshots....

I like #4 when i crop it right under the fire. (it also works without the fire.)

On #9 probably closing the aperture would habe been more interesting?

Again on #13 the out of focus person disturbs (me), but the setting ("<- Nirvana") would have been a great frame!

... and ... if you allow.

For me the "descriptions" are not necessary, a title would be sufficient.

(as usual only imho)

Hi,

thanx for feedback!

#9: Closing the aperture was not possible due to the 55-00mm which is not the fastest lens around. Now I've got the 50-140mm which is optically incredible but a brick in my bicycle backpack and draws much more attention... But like always: you can not have everything in one single package (in German we call it the "Egg producing-wool-milk-pig") but the AF is so much better and in terms of sharpness that lens is just out of space!

#4: it was exactly the blue dustbin, that drew my attention because it corresponded so well with the flames of the cheese makers oven. Of course it's just an ugly dustbin but it's part of the scene and isn't that what street photography is all about? Without the bin it would be just a nice portrait but the trashcan adds something authentic. But that's just my interpretation...

#13: Thank you very much!!! I had a look at the original picture once again and saw, that there is quite a much better framing possibility... Sometimes one is just blind. I think now it's much better.

Greetings

Harry

Hi Harlem,

give them another try - I just changed the watermarks and made them less ugly.

Better now?

Why do people put watermarks?

It doesn't prevent anybody from "stealing it" if they really wanted that (highly doubtful, especially flower pictures), copyright does. A watermark is not a copyright it has absolutely no value.

It however prevents people who would be tempted to, to print or share you picture, making you a little bit more known in the process.

A terrible idea really.

    • Anyone out there have any experience/feedback on the Laowa 55 mm tilt shift? I’d be using it on the GFX 50s ii.
    • Hi, I'm researching a gimbal to get someone as a present & they use a Fuji XS-10. I did a quick search of previous threads on gimbals but all of them seem to either get no replies or spammed by a link to an Amazon list. I'd appreciate any comments from folks who've actually used specific gimbals with the XS-10. I'm aware that some, such as certain models from Zhiyun, DJI & FeiyuTech either don't say that they are fully compatible with the XS-10 but other sites say they do work ok but some functions don't. It's quite difficult to work out which functions work & which don't. Thanks.

    • This was snapped during a lunch.  Total shooting time—a few seconds. We so often read that a proper "portrait" should be snapped with a longer than normal lens, a low ISO to get lots of detail, and have a soft light held up above the head, and slightly to the side. The key, in my opinion, is always carry a camera.  Have your camera available to capture candid, authentic photographs.  Available light, no posing.   This portrait used 2000 ISO, the lens wide open at f4, and 1/100 sec. to stop any movement.  I didn't even take time to compose—I just snapped.  I leave the "Face Detection" on unless I'm photographing a landscape or subject other than a person. The GFX100RF has the equivalent of a 28mm lens.  The large sensor renders fine detail even at fairly high ISO ratings.  And the drawing of the lens is just perfect in my opinion.  It was set to B & W, with slightly reduced sharpness and clarity (set in-camera).  Ideal for "portraits."  Now, for some subjects I will likely increase the sharpness and clarity to the normal setting.  The camera is new, and I'm still experimenting with it.
