  1. Palomid, Lowepro has a similar sling bag. I'm wondering if the fact that it is a sling and will hang only from one shoulder, if it will hurt by the end of the day, carrying all that gear. I use a messenger bag, it also hangs from one shoulder, but you can switch to the other side to even out the strain. I'm thinking that the Hatchback is a cool bag, but very bad access to the camera and gear, and if you are on the streets you would need to stop, take it off, to get the camera out or change lenses. So the slings/messengers would be better in that sense while traveling. I'm about to buy a bigger bag for my vacation in september and can't decide on a sling type or a bigger messenger bag Lowepro Event Messenger 150 (I have the 100 but it won't fit all I want to take).
  2. The last one is looking right, from the hotel window. The first shot up top is looking left. Both were taken using Velvia. Copacabana Beach by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  3. This shot is near São Paulo. This winding road goes from São Paulo to the beach. The long and winding road by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  4. Monochrome view of the coast near Angra dos Reis, which is between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Angra dos Reis aereal view by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  5. This is one of the longest bridges in the world. At least it used to rank pretty high. It crosses the Guanabara bay with Rio de Janeiro on the lower left, and Niteroi on the other end, outside the picture. Rio - Niteroi Bridge by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  6. Different shot of the Sugar Loaf. Now, monochrome: Pão de Açucar - Rio de Janeiro - Sugar Loaf by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  7. The Sugar Loaf edited in lightroom. It ended up looking like a classic chrome shot, I think. Pão de Açucar - Rio de Janeiro - Sugar Loaf by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr
  8. Hello, flew from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro this past weekend and wanted to share some shots from the airplane flight there. Most of these shots were taken from the airplane window with my X-E2 and the XF 35mm. Hope you like it! I'll post separate entries so you may tell me which ones you like best by liking the post! Thank you. First shot was one of the ones I liked best, not from the plane. This is Copacabana beach. These birds flew by in a cool formation and I was glad to fit them in the compostition. 10. Why is it that on the day I'm able to buy the lens, the price goes up?? Why??? Why???!!! Well, not by much, 20 dollars, but for me, its times 3,30 because of the conversion rate! Not fair!!!
  11. Usually fujirumors gives us a heads up. The discounts come and go all the time, sometimes the amount of discount also varies. I constantly keep watch. I got the 18mm at digitalrev.com the other day for 270 dollars shipped for free to Florida. Well, the lens arrived broken and :-O had to return it, but still, price was good. What I did was create a wish list at Amazon with all the lenses and would check every now and then. It's more complicated for me because koo live in Brazil. The lens here cost a fortune, so I had to coordinate the discounts with a friend going to the US to bring it to me. But it paid of. I was able to get many lenses with the budget I got from selling my Canon gear looking for the discounts.
  12. Thank you!I I think I'll get a larger Lowepro Event Messenger. I have the 100, and might get the 150. Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks for the reply! I'll be traveling with my wife, but for three days in Valencia she'll be participating in a course all day and I'll be free, so taking time changing between the lenses won't be an issue. So I'll definitely take the 12 and use the 35 to do done street shots these days. I have the XC 55-230, so it's lighter then the 50-200, so maybe I'll bring it along. And buying the 18-135 won't be an option. At the beginning I was planning on taking just primes but changed my mind after reading about others experiences. Now my travel setup would be the 18-55, 35, 12, 50-230. Should I squeeze in the 27? Maybe. There is a long way until September comes. Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  14. Well, to answer the question. Easy! Everything fits in the budget from when I got rid of the Canon gear!! Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  15. A friend of mine US going to the US next week and will bring me the 12mm!! So...Maybe I'll also replicate some funny work, hehe, but without the shirt. They don't ship to Brazil. Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  16. I'm going to Spain in September and I was thinking of taking a similar setup. Maybe not the 27mm because of the 35mm which is also small and light and 1.4. But then again, the 27 is so tiny. You did not use the 12mm at all? Was 18mm wide enough then? Also, did you find the need to ever use the 55-200? Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk

  18. Hi all!! My name is Marcelo Valente. I live in São Paulo, Brazil. I use to shoot with a Canon XS dslr. I had a bunch of lenses already and I started looking into a new camera to do an upgrade. The dream camera for me at the time was a Canon 7D and I had pretty much made my mind. I was saving up some cash to buy it. I had saved up about the necessary cash when my f***ing washer broke. Guess what...the cash turned into a new washer. So...back to saving again and looking around I came to a post from some photographer, maybe Trey Radcliff (I think that's his name) and how he switched to Sony mirrorless cameras, so, I started looking into those and somehow found fujirumors.com ;-) This was a couple of months before the X-E2 came out in 2013. And right at the release date my dad was going to the US and I was able to get the X-E2 with the 18-55. Since then I also got the XF 60mm because I used to shot a lot of macro with the Canon. Then I got the XF 27mm, the 35mm, the XC 50-230 (great lens by the way) and I got the 18mm the other day, but it was broken and I had to ship it back. I'll buy the Samyang 12mm once I get someone coming from the US to bring it to me, and then my budget from my Canon great will finally end. Since switching to Fuji my photo style changed a bit. I migrated more towards street photography and have shot much less Macro. You can follow me on Flickr or Instagram. I used to post a lot to G+ bit it seems I wasn't getting much love there anymore so I abandoned it. www.flickr.com/photos/mvalente instagram/marcelo_valente Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  19. I haven't upgraded my phone yet. The bad side of Android. Anyway, I renamed the camera and the phone so they connect easily. You do have to be disconnected from any Wi-Fi as said before. It does take a while to connect. I do wonder how the geo tagging works. I never figured out. Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  20. The 60 is a fantastic lens, but gets bad reputation because of the focus, which is true.
  21. I read the Zeiss had 1:1 magnification, which is a plus over the xf60mm Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
  22. Hehehe ok...good point
  23. I had some similar experience when I got my X-E2. It was late at night when I got it, so, not to wake the family up I put it in silent mode. When it was time to test the flash...it did not fire. I live in Brazil and my dad brought the camera from the US for me, so, returning or fixing anything is kind of difficult. So I was sweating desperately...until I figured out that the silent mode turned off the flash. Now, instead of silent mode, I turn the beeper volume all the way down instead. I actually never turned the beeper back on but trained myself to rely on the focus box turning green.
  24. On the gravity subject. If you turn the camera down to avoid the dust from going up to the sensor, that will mean that the rear element of the lens will be pointing up gathering dust, won't it? I don't know if there is some magic formula to avoid this. Just don't leave things open for too long, change lens quickly. Put the rear cap on the lens you just removed. I actually need to check if there are dust spots on my X-E2. I have not noticed it in any pictures yet.
  25. Where are your photos? Flickr? From Flickr you should share using bbcode...medium is a good size.
