Hello, I have a Canon 430 EX II flash but I did not have the courage to put it on my X-E2 for testing :-) Does anyone know if it will work without a problem? I did use it with a wireless trigger and it worked. Can't really figure out the manual settings at this point (still learning this pretty hard craft) but it did fire. Thanks!

Great shots!!! But why, oh why is she spinning the camera around like that?? Why??? hehe Great shots man! And I guess you made the decision that best worked out for you.

I checked. It's the latest. Focusing was kind of weird also, manual focus did not seem to be moving smothly but in steps. After close inspection I found a dent on top of the lens, seems like it was dropped. I'm sending it back tomorrow. Thanks!

Last night I finally got my hands on my XF 18mm after it went from the digitalrev store to Florida and my friend brought it to me to Brazil, and guess what?! The freaking lens came defective!!! The focus keeps getting stuck and the camera shows a message to turn it off and on. Then the focus comes back into place and starts to work again. Then, after a few focusing tries it locks again. If I put it in manual focus and focus with the back buttom it happens a lot more. Now...I'll have to return the damn lens to Hong Kong, from Brazil!!! And...need another friend coming from the US. The thing is that they will want to give me a refund, but for the price I paied, I want them to ship it again for me, not refund me because the refund won't be enought to buy a new one :-( Now, I'm rethinking my strategy of buying the 18 + 12mm from samyang to buying the 14mm which I read everywhere it is an excelent lens! But, I also read it might not be wide enough in some indoor monuments. What to do?? What to do??

Thanks for the bag tip m2usa. I wonder if the messenger bag from lowepro looks that much like a camera bag on the mica color, that is why I wanted to get the bigger one. I don't know. I have a small backpack also, might be better to carry around things during the day, as it would split the weight between both sholders. But, it does open from the back, so, maybe not ideal.

No worries. Well...I was reading the other thread about the image quality of the primes vs zooms here at the forum...so...that's why I added the comment there, hehe. Heated discussion about this over there. But I still would like to understand from someone with experience, the dynamics of changing between primes in a trip. Does lens changing happen a lot, sometimes, once a day, indoors and outdoors, and so on.

I would not take the 27mm over the 35mm that's for sure, even with the small size. I really like the 27, but the 35 is amazing. So, maybe I'd take the 18-55, 50-230, the 35mm and the Samyang 12mm (which I still need to buy). And I may need another camera bag beacause my Lowepro Event Messenger 100 does not fit all this nicely. I'm thinking of getting the 150 which I think may fit all of it and I really like the bag. I was thinking of taking the 18 over the 18-55 because of the size. I'll be picking it up tonight and begin testing it out. Let's see how it holds up against the 18mm end of the zoom. I've read that the 18 has poorer IQ than the 18mm end of the zoom lens, but, let me be the judge of that. Every one has different quality standards.

Beautiful Shot!! Planning to go there in september! What lens did you use on this shot? 10mm with the 10-24, beautiful. Just checked on your site. I can't seem to find a way to delete the post, so I just edited with the info :-)

Interesting point. I, sometimes, keep thinking about a title to put on my shots, because I feel weird about leaving the camera file name. Never thought of just putting the location and letting the view figure out whatever they want.

Thanks Citral. I guess I've done enough traveling in "easy mode". This time I might try going "hard mode". Not ready for God mode yet (one lens only :-) ) I guess I'll take the samyang 12mm, the 18mm, the 35mm and then the XC 55-230mm zoom. I'd like to take the 60mm which I think renders incredible images, but, it might start to be a lot of lenses. The 27mm would be a good idea because of the size, but, I don't think it could replace the 35mm.

I've been reading many articles and blog entries about travelling and what lenses to take. I'll be going to Spain in september and I'll have to make a choose among my lenses as to what to take. I'm leaning towards taking the primes to cover what the 18-55 would cover (18mm, 35mm or 27mm, 60mm maybe) and then take the samyang 12mm and the 55-230 if I have to reach far away, something like that. But, my question at the moment is related to how practical it would be taking only primes instead of the zoom. You can argue that the zoom quality is not as good, but, for those who have traveled with a few prime lenses, how does that go? Do you change between lenses all the time? Do you choose one lens for the day, leave the rest at the hotel? Use one outdoors (like the 23 or 35) and a wider one indoors (14mm or 12mm).

hehe. For me, more like 24 hours and a lot of $$$$ For now, the x-pert corners and blog entries will have to do for me :-) Thanks for the great work you do, by the way. Most of it for free, I know. Thank you.

I also own this lens. It went into promotion and I was trying to decide between the XC 50-230 and the XF 55-200. The XC was lighter and had a longer reach, so when it was at about half it's usual price I had to get it. I have not used it much at all yet. Trip to the zoo is still pending, but I did some test shots out the window. Not the best images, but, here they are: @ 50mm - notice the water tower in the middle Fujifilm XC 50-230 @ 50mm by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr @230mm - The water tower up close Fujifilm XC 50-230 @ 230mm by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr Sunset: FXE23336.jpg by Marcelo Valente, on Flickr Guy at the pool (well...there were no better subjects at the time so he had to do. Thanks Rico. Bangkok, is kind of very far away ;-)

Rico, I have a quick question. Are all the presets that work in Lightroom a combination of the slider setting, meaning that if I mess around long enough, I'd be able to replicate one of those vsco presets that cost (for me) a fortune? Also, any change you might come to Brazil for a workshop? I'd go, hehe.

Hehe, you understood what I meant right? I don't really care about all this discussion to be honest. Before, I really was interested in knowing if there was some other software out there that would produce something different or much better. Then, I tried one or another, but the workflow was not as easy for me as using LR which I've been using for a while. And since I really like the jpeg results on my shots and they look good enough for me. I don't really care anymore. This is one of those discussions that will go on forever. I'd rather spend my time shooting and trying to get the best results out of the camera by understanding how it works better than spending hours post production it. I guess I'm kind of lazy for that.

I`m no expert in image processing and honestly sometimes I have a really hard time, when looking at comparisons, to see the difference. Well, we do see the differences when they are shown to us, but as Rico said before, on a blind test, would there be really that big of a difference? Also, I`m guessing that 99% of the people that will look at our images will not really see the differences we are discussing here. They will most likely evaluate other characteristics of the image. So, why does it matter so much? I would really like to understand. Does it matter when you print an add campaign for an outdoor? As for me, I love the jpgs out of the Fuji and even though I shoot jpg+raw, most of the time I do a little fixing on the jpeg in LR and I`m happy about it. When I do use the raw it`s because I want to try the different film simulations and become happier with another option. As I said, I`m no expert, and I`m not even so sure my images are that great (would love some feedback). I would just really like to understand if in the end this is one of those religion type discussions where there will never be a better option, just the one that works best for you.

I don`t think so. If you look at a picture of the adapter it looks like there is some glass that comes closer either to the lens back or the sensor, and depending on the adapter you use, the distance relationship between the glasses, required for it to work, might not be appropriate. Only my guess...

Weird. I copied from the url address and pasted here. Let's try again http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/how-to-use-ultra-wide-lenses.htm
