Mike G, thank you so much for your quick reply.  I'm on a 4-month-long cruise right now and we get to Hong Kong on the 19th.  As I do every year, I'll be going up to Wing Shing and purchasing a piece of Fujifilm equipment.  This year it'll be the X-H1.  I'm very excited about it as my T2 screwed up last summer in Russia and hasn't been the same since.  I've been using my backup, my Pro2.  I had no idea it was such a good camera!  I miss the flip screen and the AF Mode of All, but otherwise it's been fun to use.  People comment on the rangefinder look of it.

Sometimes I think I'm the only female on this forum so I thought I might put in my thoughts. I travel a lot and the lens I use the most is the 10-24. It's short, fat, and remarkable. I can be in a crowded temple but still get a full view. Two weeks ago, I took some great photos in the low light of the Vatican. I use it for landscapes because it shows the whole picture, not just part of it. Quite dramatic! I only use the big 100-400 when on safari and sitting in a Jeep. I can get a giraffe's face from far away. As for the 18-135, I agree with Mike G. It's an excellent lens and extremely versatile. Sometimes I spend the day with just one of the primes, which are breathtakingly sharp. The 35 is so cute people do double takes on it. I shot a stork on top of a church with the 35 and the photo was so sharp that I just cropped it. Maybe it's just me, but the more I use my Fujis, the shorter I go in lenses.

I bought it this morning and have spent the day reading and studying it.  Truly GREAT book!  Well written, informative, and deeply interesting.  I love that he put in all the shortcuts.  Push this, hold that, and zap! you override the menu.  In two days I leave on a five-month world cruise and I'm taking it with me in print form so I can make lots of notes on it.

    Thank you, Rico.

I'm remodeling a house so I didn't order the camera from B&H until TWO DAYS after it was posted.  I felt like the world was passing me by.  I blame the plumbers.

I read the posts to try to learn.  When I do write something, I get little to no response because I don't know the technology.  To get a response you have to use lots of initials.  OVF and EVF are essential.  "I was having tea with my EVF and I kicked the OVF out."  "No!  No!  You are a fool.  Only OVF takes tea."  Equipment brag gets attention.  "The only lens I use is a UT-1 made in Germany during the First World War."  I guess I am a lurker.  I stand back and try to figure things out (and do a lot of google searching) so I can take good photos.

This sounds like a rather self-absorbed statement, and it's also pretty distasteful display of verbal non-manners. Luckily, each member of "the world" is perfectly able to decide on their own what lenses they need.

This winter I went around the world with a Nikon Df and 6 fabulous lenses.  At the end I was so tired of lugging my kit that I used my cute little X100s.  I got great photos.  I took a snap from the far side of the bus, through a window, across a person, to a faraway woman crossing a bridge.  It was so clear that I cropped it to just the woman on the bridge and it was great.  I haven't used my Nikon since.

Thank both of you very much.  Last year I went on a safari in Kenya.  I had a Nikon Df and a 150-600 lens.  I got great photos but I am a 5' tall woman so you can imagine the comments I got.  The ship docked in NY at 11 and at 11:30 I was at B&H.  I bought the XT-1 and a couple of lenses.  I loved it so much that I now have 3 Fuji cameras and 11 lenses.  I am ready for next winter's trip!!
