Rieke reacted to cug in Witch camera and lens I should bring to London?
If you feel limited by that, you are correct. I just plain don't feel limited by this. I'll take a different approach to photos.

Rieke reacted to darknj in XF 35mm 1.4 vs XF 35mm f/2 is low light that much more noticeable?
Sadly, with the current line up there are no best lenses, only a better choice in a given situation.
The F1.4 will be better at low light, due to the extra stop, meaning instead of shooting at 3200 ISO at 1/30, you can now shoot at 3200 ISO at 1/60, which makes things a lot easier.
The draw back of that lens is its age, it's slower to focus than the F2, is NOT weather resistant compared to the F2, is rather noisy when you use it and the front element moves when focusing.
Despite all that, I personally prefers the F1.4 due to the way it contrast, but that is really a personal preferences and at one point I will have to buy the F2 version since I travel to humid countries on semi regular basis and I could use a smaller WR lens than my current 18-135.

Well then you should do it, it's a great lens.

Rieke reacted to Black Pearl in 35mm f/2 vs. 23mm f/1.4?
I've got the 35/1.4 and love it to bits but I'm seriously considering the f2 for the WR.
When the weather is inclement it would make a great companion to the X-T1 making it possible to just sling over your shoulder and not worry about it getting wet. I do this all the time with my Pentax WR gear and its a hard habit to break.

Rieke reacted to cug in 35mm f/2 vs. 23mm f/1.4?
All of the above is very true, the two lenses are really different. The 23 is sharp, optically corrected, has the focus clutch. The XF35/2 is mostly sharp, digitally corrected, no focus clutch, has very fast AF and is a WR lens.
Apart from that, handling the two is a world of difference. When I put the XF23 on my X-T1 I don't want to use it without the ArcaSwiss RRS place to I get more camera height to hold on to with my right hand. The combination feels like a small DSLR, not like a compact mirrorless setup anymore. Compared to the new 35, the 23 is just huge:
http://camerasize.com/compact/#520.422,520.498,ha,t
The weight difference is very significant as well even though it doesn't look like it on paper. When I put the 35 on, I also really WANT to remove the ArcaSwiss plate, because the package is so nice and light and compact.
If I could have only one, there is no question, I'd have the 35. If budget allows for more than one lens, the two could complement each other depending on the shooting you do. But I'd rather have the 16 and the new 35 instead of 23 and 35.

Rieke reacted to Martin G in 35mm f/2 vs. 23mm f/1.4?
I have just written about the 35 1.4, my conclusion is I want them both. BUT, if you have the 23 1.4 keep it for sure. As you have a 1.4 lens then I would say the f2 would be a very good choice for you.

Rieke reacted to heliosfan in EF-42 and auto-ISO
I experienced the same but I think that's how it's supposed to work Coming from Canon I never ever used Auto-ISO, so imagine my surprise when my X-T1 chose ISO 3200 with the EF-42 flash. So remember to set the ISO manually and it's actually a pretty good flash.

Rieke reacted to Stonehorn in 35mm f/2 vs. 23mm f/1.4?
I've been to Norway and Sweden this summer and it was raining a lot. And I mean a lot!!!
I bought some WR lenses after the trip because I wasn't able to take a lot of pictures due to the heavy rain. All my friends and family thought I had sunny weather all the time. But I basically took all the shots during the narrow dry windows.
It would have been nice to have some shots representing the real soaked wet feeling I had nearly all the time.
I'm happy that you like your new toy I'm impressed by this little fella as well. I sold my 23mm F1.4 and picked up a 16mm F1.4 WR. So next time in Norway I'll have no excuse anymore.
I don't miss the 23mm range on my X-T1 at all. But I do own the X100t as well so the range is still covered.

Rieke reacted to milandro in X-T1 Firmware 4.20 RELEASED
Whatever one does ( in anything) there will always be some who likes it and some who don’t.
Fuji gives you something which they thought it would please some people but even them, though tightly enveloped in their Japanese world of courtesy and Kaizen, must know that they cannot please everyone all the time, but someone, sometimes.
Here the link to the explanations

Rieke reacted to abjurina in 27mm is the fuji best lens
Just bought this lens for use on my xt-10. It makes the camera about the size of the 100 series. It focuses faster then the 35mm (which isn't hard to do), and the field of view is terrific for matching to what we naturally see. I was very surprised at how good it is. For mine refurbished on Amazon for 199 U.S. Dollars. Couldn't argue with that.

Rieke reacted to MSW in Am I the only one who likes the XC 16-50?
I have 12x18 prints on my wall, one taken by an E-X1 + XC 16-50mm and one by a Nikon D7100 + Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 DX. Both on a tripod with good lighting. The subject is different but still with your nose close to the glass studying at the details the Nikon shows no advantage. The XC series is highly under rated in my opinion. I have a fantasy that Fuji will make a XC 16-105 someday.

Rieke reacted to MC Pite in 27mm is the fuji best lens
I had a 27mm lens, because it was so small (with the X-E2), like an X100.
It is sharp... small... and thats all.
I liked it, but it is only a little bit smaller than the 35mm without the lenshood, wich is faster, focus is faster at low light, and has a very nice characteristic.
So XF27 is good, but a little bit boring.

Rieke reacted to tom burke in Am I the only one who likes the XC 16-50?
Walking around Hong Kong in the heat and humidity I certainly appreciated it light weight, and given the cramped conditions I also loved the abiltity to shoot at 16mm.

Rieke reacted to vicmay in Do we have any X-users using their X cameras for sports?
I used my brace of X T1s and my 50-140mm f2.8 over the weekend at Brands Hatch motor circuit and was very surprised by how fast and accurate the continious AF was. I also use them for concert and music photography where the subjects move quickly and are often in poor light and have also been very happy with the results. They are so much better than my old X Pro1. I'm really looking forward to the new AF functions on the coming firmware update.
