    – After a short run on highway 85, my car stopped and won't turn back on. There's a clicking noise coming from under the hood, black smoke and some flames. Just a little, I haven't tried to put them off yet. Oh, and it also leaks gasoline.
    – Oh dear, oh dear, I've been driving on highway 85 too! I hope it won't happen to me!…

That's a lot of random stress on a tripod mount. It's been designed to withstand a push/pull force, not a constant wiggling with substantial leverage.

Trenton Talbot got a reaction from jeremyclarke in How can you avoid banding using the mechanical shutter under fluorescent lights?
This is an inherent issue with some fluorescent and CFL fixtures that have a very short afterglow on their phosphorus. Also applies to LED lights on a dimmer (no afterglow at all).

Try slower shutter speeds – much slower, like 1/10 of a second. Unfortunately, there's nothing else you can do about it.

Think tank dSLR battery holders.  Mine holds four batteries.  charged units go contacts face down.  used units contacts face up for easy identification when out in the field.

Mother robin feeding her 3 babies.  The nest was built on a low branch and I stood on a chair out of sight with my X-T1 and 55-200mm and waited for her to return every 10 minutes with a beak full of worms and bugs.

They only stay in the nest for about 2 weeks and then they are gone.

Anything panoramic goes – as long as it's been stitched. Multi-rows, little planets, bokehramas, everything.

One owl stealing the rat from another. Shot with Fuji X-E2 and Jupiter 37A (135mm f/3.5) Soviet MF lens, deep in the woods at 3am. Fuzziness is due to the fact that I've forgotten that my YN560-III flash has a maximum duration at the maximum power, and that duration is looong.

…Yes, you can easily get a camera shake shooting action with the flash in a pitch black darkness.

    Bonus shot: the winner. Hoot!

For ultralight backpacking trips I take 14 and 35mm primes, complete with a 10-stop ND filter and a decent tripod. A set of extension tubes completes the kit.

For extended trips I throw in a few extra batteries, solar charger and 1 or 2 additional primes (usually 56 and 23mm), as well as a flashgun or two.

If you have an unlimited supply of APD lenses for your rolling deal – sure, why not? I'd trade my non-APD for your APD, sell it, buy a non-APD, and repeat the transaction until I have both lenses on hand – "for almost next to nothing"!

Why not X100U then (U for Underwater)? Something in a ballpark of Nikonos V, but with HVF and much more compact…

Trenton Talbot got a reaction from Rieke in Daily Photoblog Challenge (AKA 365 Project)
Thanks Jürgen! It's a bit backwards actually: first, Margaret started her "Daily Jump" challenge on Instagram, but despite being a professional photographer in her own right, promptly resorted to my help. I don't mind it at all – as a matter of fact, this is a great way to train for creating the poster shots for Bar Mitzvah kids… but my Daily blog is not entirely about Margaret's jumps

As a matter of fact, back in my old Daily project, it was more about my backyard wildlife, so right now I have a crowd chanting "Birds! Birds!"…

But now it usually goes like this: "What did I shoot today worth posting? A few cityscapes, some street crap, a crow, a cloud reflecting in a puddle, and a beautiful girl jumping like there's no tomorrow, lit by the colored strobes…"

    The latter usually wins
