If you're after Fuji and in the UK I would recommend refurbished from the official Fuji shop. They have full 12 month warranty and are literally indistinguishable from new. Here's a link: http://shop.fujifilm.co.uk/lenses/refurbished-lenses?limit=30 There's a lot out of stock at the moment but it's worth checking back. I've bought three lenses from them and saved a lot on a new price.

I know it's not the same camera, but on my XT10 when I change to bracketed exposure via the drive dial I press the shutter and get 3 bracketed shots, complete with the noise of three consecutive shutter activations. I must admit to thinking it's the way it should work. If I press continually nothing further happens, no noise, no further shots, just the end of the process. If I ever wanted to take 3 more shots I'd release the shutter and press again.

fuji xt10 display photos button problem
MirrorMirror replied to areekw's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
The point, self evidently, that I was making was not to take away your problem, it's an issue for you, but to suggest they will be lots more good batches than bad. If it were more prevalent I would hope a recall, as with other manufacturers, would be carried out. -
Sorry can't help directly. However, some advice - never use the cable, simply take out the SD card and use that with a card reader - external for a few pounds, or an internal one if your computer has one.

The underexposure is correct and the way it should work. The DR function is primarily a JPG help. The files are underexposed, to protect the highlights, then the JPG is produced in camera from the raw data by leaving the highlights protected (under exposed) and the midtones and shadows are brightened to produce an in camera JPG via an in camera tone curve. If you are a RAW user you can do this yourself. Personally I prefer to use JPGs so do use the DR function. DR100 is the function essentially OFF.

fuji xt10 display photos button problem
MirrorMirror replied to areekw's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
If there isn't a problem with a "thing" then people just use the thing. If there is a problem with a thing then people tell other people. -
If you explicitly set DR100 then RAW and JPG will match. If you explicitly set DR200 or DR400 then the RAWs will be -1 or -2 underexposed, that's the way the Fuji DR expansion works, BUT Lightroom will auto compensate and match the exposure to the JPG. If you set DR to AUTO then the camera can use DR100 or DR200. If it decides to use DR200 then the RAW will be underexposed by -1 BUT this time LR can't read this and the RAW will remain -1 underexposed. Explicitly set DR200 or use Auto and manually adjust.

fuji xt10 display photos button problem

Must be a bad batch. I've had mine for 18 months or so and side by side with a new one you couldn't tell them apart. -
Which gear to use for a 15 year birthday party?
MirrorMirror replied to hjalmarg1's topic in General Discussion
If it's going to last 15 years perhaps a few extra batteries Seriously though, I'd cut down on the gear, most 15 year olds will not want you being there never mind hanging around with all that tech. I'd take minimal kit; a camera and a lens. -
Why would you shoot in aRGB? Most workflow, especially web and home printing is sRGB.

Sorry to be pedantic again. The camera is set to manual exposure to give an under-exposure of two stops. Exposure compensation doesn't come into it. The meter is showing 2 stops under-exposure not 2 stops exposure compensation. The indicator has a dual purpose. In Manual mode it shows the exposure, in auto mode it shows the exposure compensation. Same value but a subtle difference.

As I said I'm not decrying the use of a hub, forum, testing bed, call it what you will to enable software developers to develop. Even though personally I've never heard of it. Its more the name that doesn't do it justice and gives me a sense of wariness. If cola was called shitcola I probably wouldn't buy a can. A hub called github makes me move on. Think they should market themselves more professionally. Maybe its a cultural thing with the word git. It no doubt stands for something technical or maybe they just don't care. They haven't got my custom, and that's the point I was making.

Manual or autofocus it's the same lens you're using so no difference. f16 is plenty to get good focus depth. If you get yourself a depth of focus calculator you will see that f16 will give you focus from 2m to infinity at f16. Fuji is just a camera manufacturer, so it's your inexperience with cameras that's the issue not being new to Fuji. Ask away, there arenno stupid questions. If you don't know just ask.

X-Pro - Button layout reimagined
MirrorMirror replied to 7even18's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Tend not to use the buttons in day to day use. Set everything up when I get the camera, then from then on use it as a camera. Set speed on top plate, set aperture on lens, press shutter. Use EC dial. The buttons on the back are mostly superfluous. -
32mm vs 35mm, 1.8 vs 2.0 You wouldn't notice the difference in reality. I would buy the Fuji and it's the cheapest.

Find the setting for Preview Exposure in Manual Mode, and switch it OFF

You're welcome. It's been n a while since I used, glad to know it still works.

LR only shows a small subset of the available EXIF data. If you want to see all, including the film sim, then use EXIFTOOL. If you want to see all data in LR then use the plugin, available here http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-viewer The plug in uses the EXIFTOOL to view in within the LR interface. Second question - you can use the Fuji sims within LR on the RAW versions of the file. This is without plugin, it's within the LR Develop module. Only available to RAW files, not JPGs, which already have the sim "baked" in. With the RAW files LR allows you to change the sim in post processing. Personally I've used the plugin I mentioned, and it works. However I just don't care anymore, I just take pics in provia and have done with it. There's really not much difference in any of them and provia works for me.

Fuji X-T2 weather-sealing issues?
MirrorMirror replied to jmijares's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
I think that weather sealing means it can be subjected to a light "splashing", and then swiftly back under protection. I don't think it's designed for constant rain. Pentax cameras have water proofing but Fuji is just a resistance to weather You've been lucky with your XT1 up to now I'd guess. -
Photographing Bands in low light: what long lens?

I'd practise unpaid for a while at a few concerts/venues, and then take paid work.- 12 replies

Must point out that as the OP is shooting in Manual that in this case this isn't actually the exposure compensation indicator, it's, strictly speaking, the metering indicator when in Manual mode. Which shows an under-exposure of -2. Same result, an under-exposure of 2 stops, as I pointed out in post #12, but not under-exposure by EC compensation. Pedantically yours...

X-T10, Have I made a mistake by buying it?
MirrorMirror replied to Andy H's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Turn the wheel on the camera body until A appears in the viewfinder. Leave it there!
