I shot the live show with Old Dominion and Kira Isabella on Friday night, these are with the X-T2 + XF50-140, quite impressed myself after switching from Canon 5D3 + L-Glass.

Neil_42 reacted to Arthur in Video really needs to be top priority for Fuji
    Two comments:
    1. Your personal priority of video over still photo is hardly shared, in my opinion, by the majority of Fuji users.
    2. Comparison of arbitrarily chosen video clips made by people of varying skills under different lighting conditions with differing lenses, shooting different subjects proves nothing. I mean, absolutely nothing.

I hate to see this going on I wish you guys would just ease up and just let it go as is. You all added some interesting discussions to this forum in the past imo and life is to short to waste it on anger. Sorry for the preaching.

I'm surprised nobody has posted their thoughts on the X-T20...

I've had mine for a few days, so here goes. I'm coming from a X-T10... seemed like an obvious upgrade. The features that attracted me were better sensor, better AF, touch screen.

The cameras are physically almost identical... same size, shape and weight, just a couple of minor button changes. I like the form factor so that's great... and any accessories like grips and cases for the X-T10 will fit.

The user interface has evolved... instead of the numbered tabs in the menu system things are now organised into themed areas... image quality, AF, flash, movie, camera settings etc. There is also a "my menu" tab where you can add a screenful of items that you choose in the order you like. This is a good idea, but the settings you're allowed to put on there seem unnecessarily restricted (I couldn't add the "sound & flash" setting for example).

The viewfinder view is very similar... there are more AF points and more of them are phase detect, which is good. The zone mode areas are now all square (one was a rectangle before). There's a setting for the number of AF points... the default is "plenty" and you can go to "all you can eat"... you'd have to have a very small object or a very particular composition.

The LCD screens are the same, including the tilt mechanism, except the new one is touch. When you're shooting, the screen can be used to select an AF point (without focussing), to focus on a point, or to focus on a point and then shoot. You can select the operation on the screen itself by touching a small control area in the top right... it cycles through the options (or disables touch). Touching the screen has no effect when the screen is off... so your nose won't take a picture while you're at the viewfinder!

At playback time the touch screen let's you flick between images and zoom in and out with pinching. Double tap zooms to the focus point. There's no way to delete an image by touch, but maybe that helps avoid accidents. It's a small screen, so a bit fiddly compared to a phone. The menu system or the quick menu don't respond to touch... so maybe it's not as integrated as it could be.

One of the function buttons has gone, but the movie button is now a general purpose function button. You can assign these in the menu system or by a long press. The four direction buttons can be used for four functions or for directly moving the focus point. Both the control dials act as buttons too by pressing them... the rear one does "focus check" by default but you can assign it to something else if you like. The front one does very little by default and annoyingly you can't assign it (other way round on the X-T10... front is assignable and rear is fixed for focus check). That's perhaps the most annoying thing so far.

I haven't done any "proper" side by side tests... and I haven't explored the effect of the various image quality settings (sharpness, noise reduction etc), but I expect I will. The JPEGs seem to be around 11-12Mb and the raw files (now compressed!) are 25-30Mb. 24Mpixel gives lots of scope for cropping... here's a picture of the moon taken handheld with the 55-200 lens.

So, I can't believe I'm the only X-T20 user here... I'd like to hear your thoughts. And a question... does anyone know if it's safe to use the old batteries, or should I only use the W126S version?

using any professional camera in program mode is like driving a formula 1 with an automatic gearbox.

The whole point of using a camera like the X-T2 is to be in control. I don’t shoot manual because it is simply too slow for what I do but if I want the camera to prioritize aperture then I put it into Aperture priority automatism, read the shutter speed and adjust accordingly the aperture ( if the outcome isn’t favorable) or (and increasingly so these days since the incredible performance with high ISO) the ISO.

Whichever program you use you will always have to modify because the camera will always make choices that you wouldn’t appreciate, so, if you like aperture to be more significant, choose Aperture priority.

Neil_42 reacted to ErikN in To those upgrading to X-T2 from X-T1, worth it?
    Hi!

I'm really on the fence about upgrading from my X-T1 to the X-T2. It has a lot of improvements I like, usable video being one of them, but at the end of the day it comes down to image quality.

I have heard a lot of conflicting opinions about the image quality of the X-T2 compared to the X-T1. Some say it's way better, others say it's missing the Fuji magic from the earlier generations. I love the image quality of my X-T1.

So, upgrading to the X-T2 is a significant expense and if the magic isn't there then it may be a mistake upgrading.

How do those of you that have upgraded feel about it? Any regrets? Was it worth it?

If you have both then which do you prefer image quality wise?

I'm talking OOC JPEG here mostly as RAW can be processed to taste either way, but any opinions from owners is appreciated. Don't want to spend the money and then be disappointed by the image quality.

    Thanks,
    Erik

So many reasons the X-T2 works better for me.

#1 Multi-angle tilt screen. Lack of tilt screen has become a deal killer since I started using a body with one.
    #2 EVF
#3 Faster operation & superior performance in action-oriented settings
#4 Better control layout for my uses.
    #5 Video
#6 Useful accessories...the metal grip, vertical grip
#7 Better match for their high-end zooms

The fisheye has massive limitations - it can make things look weird, especially if there are lots of straight lines involved and you point the lens straight at it. I sold my previous fisheye because I got bored with the bendy-lines effect very quickly, but I've since bought another and I think I'm beginning to work out how to use it

Wasn't expecting to shoot the sky at all but ended up staying in a castle in the middle of Wexford, Ireland during the week and it was a clear night. Happened to have my Roki 8mm in my small bag. I balanced the X-T1 on top of a wooden fence and propped it up using the lens cap. Kinda fun.

Great lens and one can do a lot with it, you can use it by purposefully enhancing its natural distortion or using it for image where you will hide its nature in the context

Not my first fisheye, so I think it will continue getting considerable use. The reason, is that I am not using it to shoot typical "fisheye" shots, but much more as a superwide or panoramic lens that has curvature which I don't emphasize. I have tested it using the X-Pro1's sweep panorama, and stitching worked! I have also tested stitching in the new version of Adobe Camera RAW with dramatic results.

I find it does very nice interiors with all four walls, when shooting from a corner. Landscapes are quite dramatic as well. Photoshop CC has tools that can pretty much straighten everything, but for the most part, I don't bother.

    Shalom Aleichem Fuji-X-Forum people!
my name is Danny, I live in South Florida I'm a stay at home and homeschooling dad. I'm into snapping photos because of my 4 beautiful kids (8,7,5 and almost 2). I had a Canon 6D which I sold for my Fuji gear. I currently have a XT1 and use the 23 and 56 for indoor low light and for everything else I use the 16-55 and 50-140. Very happy with the Fuji and having a ton of fun with it.

I've been a keen photographer since 1986 - with a few pauses, the second of which I am about to exit.

My last camera was an X Pro 1 and loved it and thinking of getting another again - unless an X-Pro 2 gets announced very shortly or the XT1 or XT10 prove to be too much of an upgrade.

Previously a long time Canon user, but not after the X-Pro 1.

I like to carry a camera around with me all the time 'just in case' - and the X-Pro 1 fits that brief very well - certainly much better than the 5D2!

Time to go away and be patient until the 18th May...

As for my preferred subject? Well I suppose it would have to include street, journaling work and travel and an occasional dable into portrait/ fashion

    Hi,

    I'm Adam!

I'm incredibly fortunate in that I get to live my life (and shoot my fujis!!!) in 2 different countries.

The UK where I was born and where I work, and Portugal where I spend my down time!

I've had many, MANY fujis over the years, my first digi cam was a fuji finepix 2200 2.1mp, bought in 2000!

I've tried most of the X series bodies, but currently have a X-T1 and X-Pro1 & 6 Fuji lenses.

The XT is my do everything camera, the Pro is my travel/reportage camera!

Feel free to look at my shots which can be found on flickr,
