  1. Wow, that must be frustrating. My 10 stop is a Breakthrough. But if you get a sharp image with your filter on another lens, then your filter is fine. The fact that it went soft right away means that the lens is trying to automatically re-focus, which it doesn't do well with a dense filter. It shouldn't do that unless it's on S or C focus mode with Pre-AF enabled. Make sure the focus mode selector switch on the front of the camera is set to M [manual], not C or S.
  2. A solar filter is simply a very dense ND filter with additional IR filtration. But I tried to produce a sharp image with a 10 stop filter, also. It worked fine. There is nothing wrong with the 100-400 in regards to dense filters. It does not auto-focus well with a dense filter and relatively dim light, though; remember that it is a 5.6 lens at 400mm. In order to achieve sharp focus you will need to make sure the switch is set on manual focus, and either focus without the filter or manually focus with preview picture mode turned off.
  3. I was able to get very sharp images of the sun during the August eclipse with the 100-400 @ 400, with a 1.4X, and an 18 stop solar filter. There really shouldn't be an issue with your 10 stop. Can you try shooting again with a really high-contrast subject, to ensure good focus?
  4. Sounds like a defective grip. I would take it back immediately to your purchase location, or contact Fuji.
  5. I use a rocket blower for loose debris, and Eclipse wipes & solution for wet cleaning. Not a fan of the Butterfly.
  6. There is a lock switch. I had a problem with accidentally locking the grip off with that; a little gaffer tape took care of it.
  7. I just had the Main Board replaced by Fuji and it still locks up. It did it during a helicopter shoot yesterday, too, so I am not a happy camper. Today got it to lock with & without the grip. New NP-W126S batteries, Sandisk 300mb/s UHS II cards. Will call them tomorrow and see what they want to do.
  8. I am waiting anxiously for this, too. I love Fuji to death, but sure miss my Canon 100L.
  9. You may also want to contact Eclipse. I have used Eclipse on a lot of [Canon] sensors and never saw anything like that.
  10. Peak Design. Much more practical than BR. I use the larger Slide for big lenses, and the Lite for everything else.
  11. Cool pics! I have an X-T1 modified also, to dual spectrum. Good to know that the 23 works well in IR. I usually use the 18-135.
  12. You should be good with the X-T20, especially if you carry a small rain cover. I've gotten water in my X100T, even with a rain cover, but it took shooting for several days in constant light rain.
  13. These folks: http://www.rluther.com/ sell stick-on buttons that work pretty well to make small buttons more prominent. Very pricey for what you get, but nice.
  14. RRS just shipped mine; ordered on 9/23.
  15. Here is a review of this lens on a Canon: http://dustinabbott.net/2014/11/rokinon-24mm-tilt-shift-review/
