  1. it should and I am sure that my X10 gave me some spectacular close-ups. I can’t remember if it worked also on the “ tele” setting but certainly in wide setting.
  2. If the X30 is like the X10 which I had, you should have two macro settings, one “ normal” and one “ super” macro
  3. I have bought the same adapter K&F concept in the version M42/Fx and it works just as expected. No problem is focussing close up of at infinity, KateR’s lens or adapter must have had some fluke of some sort but. KateR has not found her way back to the forum since she started this thread. I can’t say whether the bayonet is made of aluminum or steel but it feels very solid and smooth, quite different from a no name adapter bought on line before. I have paid €10 shipping included and really if you have several lenses which need adapting I would certainly consider buy one of these each lens.
  4. Well after much thinking I decided to buy a K&F Concept adapter and I can only recommend this, the only problem is that there isn’t a tool with the adapter to adjust it but it is something that you might easily have in your tool box
  5. I did realize how much I needed a second body when I went out to shoot some urban landscape around Amsterdam. Once I arrived there I saw immediately ( given the strong wind) that It would be foolish to even attempt to change lenses although I would have wanted to use my 12mm and my 8mm because there would have been dust on my sensor. Lo and behold I got one spec of dust at the back of my lens on its rear element ( one spec only!), it was enough to show at aperture f 9 or 10) and shot the first part of the shooting with a speck of dust which I then had to retouch. I can onl;y imagine what would have happened if going through a multiple change of lenses! Dust is the most annoying thing and only having at least a couple of bodies to minimize lens changing, can prevent that. The X-E2 has proven my ideal companion for the X-T1. I really don’t need more pixels. I don’t care for movies, I don’t care for waxing ( you can count on the fingers of my left hand the times that I’ve exceeded 1600ISO and you know, I even like the “ waxing” of the skin tones?!) I don’t shoot quick moving objects and my eyes can really do with the lush, big and bright electronic viewfinder of the X-T1. The X-E2 is lightweight, carefree camera and has everything my X-T1 has minus weight with the innocent retro looks which tell everyone that I am an innocent amateur ( which I may be... or not) not threatening them ( In the NL people are very defensive of their image). It has costed me little, provides me with an everyday camera to keep next to my computer and grab it to shoot pictures of things that I sell on the internet or quickly documenting the work they are doing at our former house and the building of a new one. Is the camera that I am also using for a quick test and to walk about with. Anything more than that and it becomes my second body ready to offer assistance to my X-T1. I love it.
  6. I am afraid that if that’s the spirit of suspicion that you travel with, I can assure you are never going to have fun anywhere. Unfortunately, on top of the resident population of thieves, since the opening of the borders in Europe, all sorts of people travel more easily and that includes bands of thieves too. They move around following seasons and events. If you are going to Cologne for the Photokina you will see what I mean. However there is no need to go crazy about any of this but you simply have to make sure that you don’t do too many stupid touristy things. Travel by taxi if or walk ( best investment in safety especially if you are 2 or more people) instead of taking crowded busses or underground. Travel in company. Don’t take too many things, travel light. If you are tired ( and not alert) stop take a rest, enjoy the place but if you are moving around and about when tired or jet lagged you will be an easy target. Leave you passport ( you can carry a photocopy with you) your full wallet and too much money in the hotel’s safe put a camera, as I said before, on one shoulder but under a piece of garment ( vest, jacket) put your main lens ( preferably a zoom) on the camera and keep another lens ( if you think you need it) in a zipped pocket, best if with a pocket at the inside the jacket or vest, Jeans jackets have a huge space usable as a pocket created by the applying of the material to provide an outside pocket where you keep nothing. Do use a decoy light backpack where you put things of no importance ( water, food, maps, tripod... if you must!) and that would be easily accessible, the few seconds they have would be wasted on trying to access that and you won’t have left any valuables there.   7. I am having 3 adapters ( lens turbo, tilt adapter, ordinary “dumb” adapter). All to use with a combination of lenses including Orestor 50 1.8, Helios 58 2, Takumar 100mm macro 4) The X-E 2 is probably not the best choice for these if one has the X-T1 too, the superior size and clarity of the EVF makes me prefer this camera with the use of adapted lenses. Incidentally, I did try the X pro 2 of a friend and the EVF was definitely a let down, for me. I’ll let you know if I see any X-E2 deals but probably you will be better off just buying a secondhand body. Mine was as new and there are many out there in the same state.
  8. Quite interesting approach this combining the latest technology of the body with the charming but somewhat, obviously, lesser performance predictably given by any adapted lenses . Nevertheless, somehow this seems to be quite a natural penchant for many Fuji users, many of whom are, at heart, old school, hard core photographers. Some take this to the extreme as in using only legacy lenses. Commendable and dedicated as this might be, I am afraid that I lack this pious, almost religious, vocation. I use sparingly and for portrait purpose only the “ legacy” lenses, which for me are often chosen for their “ special effect” potential rather more than their intrinsic performance in therms of high quality rendition. For all the rest I rely on either Fuji autofocus or Samyang manual. The other day I was with a friend who was a previous owner of a X100S, which he only ever used with EVF, now he bought the X-Pro 2 and still only ever uses it with the EVF but he likes the viewfinder (as he called it) Leica look ( a look which Leica no longer has! ).
  9. My pleasure! Strangely enough the offer of secondhand X-E2 bodies has been always very limited in the NL and the bodies kept (as almost everything Fuji X) a relatively high price. The only way for me to acquire a suitable camera was to buy a camera and a lens together. Then I sold the lens. I did take a risk that the lens wouldn’t sell, but I figured that should that not have happened I could have used the lens myself. I don’t know how to explain the relative high prices of the secondhand Fuji cameras and lenses. I sold my 35mm for less than what I paid for it in a package deal with the X-E1 which introduced me to the Fuji X System. I asked €350 and one person called me immediately offering €300 and, because I was going to that part of the country I even delivered the lens in person. Now I see some folks bidding €450 for a secondhand lens that costs new more or less the same, I a baffled! On the other hand I bought a secondhand X10 and when I decided to buy the X-E2 I sold that camera for €15 more than I had paid for it a year before. Prices of X10, X20, X30 are relatively high. By the way @darknj how are you doing with your lens turbo?
  10. Not much has changed and I have never seen anyone selling the X-E2 with a 35mm 2 in a kit form in the NL.   13. Thanks for your help but I am afraid that I might have not made myself clear. I wasn’t talking of the physical possibility to use my cameras with manual flashes. What I am talking about is using a flash ( in my case a light box) with a trigger tension which might be damaging the camera. The unit in question, by the way doesn’t even have a hot shoe. You must not be familiar with this phenomenon perhaps you better read about it before you do anything wrong. http://dpanswers.com/content/genrc_flash_measuretv.php This article starts with” Some old flash units are known to have DANGEROUSLY high trigger voltages...." There would be no problem if one could measure it and one would know what is safe for the Fuji circuitry. Since I cannot measure the unit before buying I was trying an alternative route. Anyway other solutions above have already addressed the way to solve this problem. Thanks anyway.
  14. Airports, stations and whatever place is linked to traveling are, by definition, everywhere in the world, places where thieves are sure to find good pickings. People always travel with money, passports, and valuables. We have pickpockets here in the NL too and I am sure that this crime is not unknown in Norway and Finland too. Good Luck and stay loose
  15. I might have been giving you the impression that is is a jungle out there in Barcelona and it is not as bad as it might sound. Lots of people go to Barcelona, shoot plenty of pictures and have no problem at all! But you want to square a circle and bring a ton of stuff in an invisible bag from which you occasionally will take out a camera and occasionally switch lenses. Thieves, if at all present ( and they are but not everywhere all the time) will certainly spot this movement. Dorky as it might be, a vest offers the possibility to both hide your camera ( as opposed to have it hanging from your neck) and carry all the things you need.
  16. I am afraid that whichever bag you will take with you, it will be very difficult not to be conspicuous if you carry a camera and 4 lenses. The moment you take you camera from the bag and you change lenses ( otherwise why taking 4 with you?) you will attract attention. Expert thieves on the ramblas would immediately spot you as a tourist and they would suspect a camera and lenses in any large or even small bag. My advise to people who are afraid of their camera being taken from them is to avoid a bag altogether, especially when you are in Barcelona, and put your main lens on the camera. Then carry the camera on one shoulder and wear a jacket or at least a body warmer or something without sleeves ( if too warm) to make it less visible and protect the camera from being snatched while not photographing. Have one or two other lenses in the pockets, preferably if closed with a zip. The other thing that I would advise is to always be with at least one other person and while you are shooting have the other person act as a look out. People being relieved of their telephone while phoning in the streets is absolutely not unheard of and the same can happen with a camera while you are concentrating looking in the evf. Good luck!

  18. It is very easy to feel left out when everyone else receives goodies, it activates parts of our conscience which are deeply rooted in our primate’s brain. We will probably never know the whole and true story of that but I am convinced that it wasn’t planned originally and the only the “ Vox Populi” in the form of disappointed customers moved Fuji to commercially driven compassion. So would the X100S or T ever get any goodies? Maybe, but maybe not. There is really no way to know that, one thing is for sure, there seems to be less vocal disappointment about this. There is no real reason why a camera like the X100T wouldn’t get many of the same features now presented on the X-T10 and X-E2 and X-E2S other than by precise design. However I fully understand delmundo’s point of view. There is nothing that can’t be done with any camera without upgrade that couldn’t be done at the moment one bought it. So, technically, there is no reason to not use any of the cameras which haven’t been upgraded. Psychologically though, things are different. Remember that phrase used by Nature magazine? “ Negative Reactions may occur when expectations are violated”. I suppose that we all have to accept the fact that one day we will all have a perfectly working camera that isn’t at par with the newest model, but which will always, until it crumbles in our hands, be able to perform the exact same way it did when we bought it.

I have no doubts that the X-T2 is coming but at the moment, aside for rumors, there isn’t much else to tell me when this will happen. June? Fine! December? Why not! But yes it stand to reason to think that, sooner or later, it will be here. I am just not holding my breath.

  21. I don’t know if you need to do anything to the front plate. I’d rather think most of the work is selecting the best donor. You would have to chose, of course, a donor plate of a similar diameter and design to the one on the lens turbo II. but some of these cheap adapters from China cost peanuts, the K&F is already more expensive than most and it is only $12 or less! http://www.ebay.com/itm/MD-FX-Minolta-MC-MD-mount-lens-to-Fujifilm-Fuji-X-Pro1-XPro1-Camera-Adapter-Ring-/141314799690?hash=item20e704b84a:g:JU4AAOSwofxUdTSf the real problem is to secure the donor ring to the lens turbo II made for a different ring because the screws might not be in the same position. Also the Minolta ring has a locking bayonet with an unlocking push button on the side, this too might not be in the position of the one of for example Canon above. Maybe wiser to get in touch with the company and see what they can do for you! However. Some folks on line have tried a Lens Turbo II ( or so they say) for Minolta but not for Fuji So the company actually can put a front on a lens turbo for Fuji for you! It will probably be best and cheapest this way
  22. I think that modifying one of the type II for your needs is not beyond the capabilities of a decent technician. you buy a generic adapter without the lens and cannibalize the front ring which you then put on the type two lens turbo. Needs some work but can be done.

I think that this might have been true at some point when the formats were defined by the films the cameras used ( and I am not even mentioning box films like 126 or 110) So anything using 8 or 16mm were called " spy cameras” ( Minox, Minolta) or miniature cameras. 35mm film (or Leica Film) was the small format but was used to shoot anything from half-frame ( 18mm x 24mm) to panoramic formats ( many sizes and brands . With non moving lens, with moving lens, with moving film) 120/127/220/70mm ( which could be anything from 4 x 4 cm using a 127 film to the alpa rotor camera with rotating camera and lens!) and let’s not even talk of rollfilm serving on lager cameras which disappeared in the night of times. Then you had cut sheet film often usable on some “ medium format” cameras too but stretching up to 50 x 60 cm. ( and larger, on request!). Since the 126 cameras such as the rolleiflex baby weren’t 35mm they had to be “ medium format” too!
