Buy cheap xt1 or wait for xt2 in June?
milandro replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
that makes sense although I see people over here in the NL sometimes asking very precise amounts. The other day someone was offering an adapter for €16,50 , now I know I can buy the exact same one, including shipping, on ebay, for €10 but I then have to wait 4 weeks. So I told the guy, would you sell it for €15? He told me that that wasn’t possible. I bought the one on ebay. -

yes, €730 ( weird price why not 700?) is cheap. Maybe, just maybe, they will sell cameras cheaper than this when the new model comes but it isn’t guaranteed at all. I recently bought the X-E2 and had been waiting a long time ( I have the X-T1 for more than 1,5 year) for the price of secondhand bodies to come down and it really didn’t. So, I bought one after much thinking at the available price. -

I don’t have a X100t to compare with my X-T1 but I really think that it has more to do with the shooting technique than with the camera itself. In other words there were people shooting pictures of children moving around even with the first generation of cameras and getting this with acceptable results. There is no box which contains the ability to do this. The idea that you can buy chops in a box is really a chimera. -

I don’t use the X-T1 ( and the X-E2 that I’ve just bought) to track kids around but in my limited experience I had no trouble to track bikers and cars when the AF was updated 4.0, I also had, prior to that shot some “ sand yachts” racing on the beach here in the NL and most images where sharp. In my view, and if you don’t mind me saying that ( you may very well think it is a case of envy) the 24Mp would be seriously useless if used to shoot kinds especially if you, like most, never even bother to print the pictures. -

Then buy the X-T2, if you use that faster autofocus, if not , you’ll have a Lamborghini in a city full of speed bumps and cameras. -

milandro replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Well, it might come in June, or not, after all the X-Pro 2 is still not in everyone’s pocket even now. If you have the patience and, when the times come, the extra cash, and you believe that the nearly €500 to €1000 would buy you something that you need and will use buy the X-T2, otherwise don’t. Let’s see what are the main probable ( since we are talking of a camera, de X-T2 which doesn’t exist, yet) 1) 24Mp 2) extra Autofocus points and faster AF functions. 3) Better Video 4) other minor things such as Acros simulation So , if any of these is a deal breaker wait for the X-T2 otherwise buy the X-T1 and be happy and more importantly take pictures now. Because this is the thing: while having the latest camera is certainly hip and you too will be able to stand and be counted and discuss along with all the others who own that camera. The best camera is the one you use, not the one you own. 1) Do you print prints so large that the 24MP becomes a necessity to print something that you couldn’t print with a 16Mp? It is a possibility. I might have had the need to do so but a conversation with the lab which does high quality exhibition printing told me that, to print 100 x 150 cm Exhibition grade museum quality print, I wouldn’t be having any visible difference. In fact they suggested I might even go quite a bit larger than that. I have later on seen some on line tests by some person which appear to give the 24Mp some edge but only on your screen at the maximum possible magnification. I cannot comment on the methodology used. However , seen what the lab told me and these tests showed, I have concluded that that” edge" is of no consequence to me. 2) I do mostly portraits, urban landscapes and still life photography. If I use it at all, use autofocus is and stays on a single shot and sigle point mode. I have only ever used the tracking functions for the sake of a test. Improvements in that area are completely useless to me. 3) I don’t shoot video and If I ever did I am sure that the X-T1, X-E2 quality would suffice my needs. 4) I don’t really care much for the newest film simulations, they can be replicated in different ways and are mostly, to me, just a gimmick. So, if you can pay the extra cash that it will cost and you believe that the X-T2 will give you an edge that you will really use ( an unused blunt knife cuts just as well as an unused sharp one if they both stay in the drawer) and not something that it might do things that you never do. Then wait and buy the X-T2! You know the joke about the German guy who buys a Lamborghini but lives in a city with speed cameras everywhere so he has to cruise at 50Km and hour as everyone else. So the only way for him to use the car is on the few stretches of the autobahn where there is no speed limit. So he goes to Frankfurt every day to drive 500 Km and test his car at maximum speed. After a few months a friend asks him about his Lambo and he says that he had sold it because he couldn’t waste his day going to Frankfurt every day! The best tool is a too fit for the purpose, if you don’t have a purpose for the extra performance what are you doing with it? In fact, If I were you I would buy a secondhand X-E2 or X-T10 and with the remaining money that you would have spent to buy the body of the X-T2 I would buy lenses. Good luck! -
Cheers Paul Positano is a Beauty but in general all the Costiera Almalfitana and Sorrentina is. One of the places still relatively undiscovered is Massalubrense and Sant’Agata dei due golfi.

Anyone using a Minolta Rokkor 50mm 1.4?
milandro replied to KateR's topic in Adapting lenses to Fuji X
So, @KateR, what happened? Did you go to the shop and did they say what the problems was with the K&F adapter and your Minolta lens? Was it the adapter or, as I rather more suspect, the lens or neither one of them? -
We shall see how wise this thing is. It will certainly absorb a lot of money because they need to develop not only a technology that they don’t yet have but also all the lenses to go with it. Not for me anyway. Since I’ve abandoned the active profession, I am no longer interested in a MF digital camera ( I did use a Contax with a phase one back ages ago) and I wonder how big is this market and more importantly what the purpose of this market actually is. Short of wanting to produce incredibly large gallery images ( there is certainly a demand for this but how big is it?) there is not much that one can do with 24 or 36Mp and I am already way happier than I really need to, with my poor 16Mp.

I am assuming that you’ve tried several other cards and that your card is of the right speed and specifications? If that is the case... Unfortunately, short of attempting to re-upload the software, which you appear to have done already, there aren’t any other options open to you other than taking the camera in for service. Obviously this isn’t a common problem because by now there would be many more who would have experienced this and even if this was the case this would offer only the limited solace of knowing that you are not the only one but wouldn’t change much in the way of solving the problem. There isn’t a reset button that we, the Fuji populace, know of and unfortunately they, the Fuji Gods on top of their mountain, are the only ones who can help you in your times of trouble. Good Luck!

milandro replied to xtrans's topic in Fuji X Lenses
two very different lenses. My first ever fuji lens was the 35 f1.4 and for some time I used it as sole lens (I like shooting with a “ normal” focal perspective which is the focal closest to the measure of the diagonal of the format). The 27 is a different lens altogether and personally I don’t see them as alternative but somewhat complementary. Since there has been the announcement that sooner or later there will be a new version of the 23mm f2 which is made to complement the 35mm f 2 I personally am considering the option to buy those two. 23 & 35 -
Well, I can tell you that mine is 42MO7646, which maybe younger than yours ( if the prefix numbers are sequential) and I don’t have any sign, yet of rubber surface detachment. Which doesn’t mean it won’t come! I have attempted to contact the FR staff, both reporting this thread and by PM, to make the point that we here, aside from carrying on with our conversations, could be a valuable sample of users to hold a poll amongst. If we have say 1000 ( I might be overestimating the number of people who would actually participate to this) participants, we might help Fuji with having a picture bigger and more complete of the problem. Assuming that they don’t know yet what this was or is. My hunch is that they know already and that they chose to simply act on a one to one base because otherwise they might have to face a costly “ total recall” receiving cameras even from people whom might otherwise never experience the “ problem”.

Apparently the Russian cameras Zenith will make a comeback. This is somewhat a nostalgic thing for me since the first reflex camera bought with my own money was a Zenith E. This time they won’t be featuring proto-industrial technology mostly borrowed from East-Germany when the Russian troops seized the factory and archives of many German optical factories. Apparently they want (as almost anyone else these days) tackle the high-end market wanting to expressly rival with Leica and whatnot. So, Rostec, the Russian conglomerate concern owner of the Krasnogorsky Zavod factory, maker of Zorki, Zenith and Krasnogorsk, will make their own camera, new, from scratch, and their own updated version of the old optics. We shall see

Might be indeed a very much clearer way to define in which pool each model fishes.

Best SDXC UHS II Card for X-Pro 2
milandro replied to RCL's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I think the bundles are shop driven rather than fuji as a brand My favorite shop sells a bundle with Lexar for example http://www.kamera-express.nl/product/122061853/fujifilm-x-pro2-zwart-35mm-f-2-0-r-wr-zwart/ this too http://www.cameraland.nl/digitale-systeemcameras/x-pro2-body-black/ -
“...We will integrate the 4K video in the next models of the T series.." So it looks increasingly like they are differentiating the Pro line from the T line. Shame they aren’t introducing the two cameras at the same time, which would make a real statement in this sense. If you want one of our camera be aware that the Pro line does this........., the T like does this........, the X line does the this............ Different lines for different needs. This phased introduction of subsequent alternative top models on the market, is a strategy which creates lots of confusion and leaves a lot of dissatisfaction among the customers whom are buying one model whereas they might have preferred another. A lot of customers are now buying the X Pro 2 because of the camera advancement which this shows over the X-T1. Maybe they would have not bought it it they would have known that a camera, with enhanced video functions (and at this point who knows what else) was following. Now Fuji is saying ( just as well they are doing this before many have had the chance to buy the X-Pro-2) that the X-T2 will feature enhanced video capabilities, capabilities which they say their marketing research department have determined aren’t of any consequence for the Pro buyers. “ ...But according to our studies users do not expect 4K feature on the X-Pro 2..." I am sure that they marketing department is gifted with immense foresight, judgement and wisdom, but I can’t help thinking that some folks would feel they would have been the best judge of that! Anyway, the marketing merry go round lives of a continuous trickle of rumors introducing new models all promising that we will all be happier with the next model to come. Although I’ve put some money on the side for future purchases I am sitting on the banks of the river waiting to see what Fuji will do next. You can take great pictures, with any camera, while waiting on the banks of a river, when you will see the Bandwagon (or Band-Barge) in the distance there will be always time to jump on it. Or not.

You can indeed wrap the gorillapod around things like a lamppost, a tree, a bridge and even yourself, however I see any and all of this as an emergency solution and not as something that, given any choice, it would be my first choice when needing a tripod for a camera. I have the distinct feeling that although one can use it with a camera weighing 6-700gr. these things were certainly made and thought for the omnipresent action-video-cameras such as Go-PRO. I don’t know if anyone would dare entrusting his expensive and heavy camera+ lens ( I am thinking X-Pro 2 and a 90mm or 100-400mm) on a windy day, but I suppose I wouldn’t. Call this prejudice! I own one medium sized one ( not the smallest of the family) and I have upgraded the ballhead making use of a modified ( with arca plate) Linhof ballhead. I will certainly take it with me on my next trip abroad where taking a full size, even if relatively small and light, tripod like my Manfrotto would result in no use at all.

The issue is not with the X-T1 tout court ( although there was a member here who reported a problem with the X Pro 1) because some develop this and some don’t. It might very well be a bad batch problem. I don’t understand why they would charge you €120 since they have dealt in most cases with extending the guarantee terms and repairing for free. Get in touch with the head office. I have asked the management here to start a poll among the X-T1 owners to know how many have this problem. We might have to compare serial numbers to see if there is any common denominator among the affected cameras.

This is a similar situation as the one discussed here. Welcome to the forum. It is not against the rules to start a new thread but it is always advisable to check whether there is any other thread discussing the same thing. Not so much to save “ cyber space” but more because more threads dilute information for later people to find it. Good Luck! http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/2271-xf-60-mm-macro-turn-off-during-image-review/
