X-pro2 autofocus on OVF vs. EVF

I don't know if someone had post over this thing or not in the pass. I tried to browse through the threads but couldn't find one.

 

Is it me or is the autofocus on X-Pro2 noticeably slower while in OVF compared to EVF mode? Is there any way around this so that the autofocus performance is level while using OVF? Cause, EVF tends to drain battery faster.

I'm not sure about with the X-Pro2, but I have heard such about the X-Pro1. Chris Weeks mentioned it in his review of the X-Pro1 here: http://aphotocontributor.typepad.com/aphotocontributor/2012/10/digital-kool-aid.html

Tried it and it looks like it is slower when using the OVF with the little LCD in the bottom right. If I hide it then the OVF is as fast as the EVF.

And the higher the ERF magnification, the slower it gets.

Btw, focusing while the EVF is magnified also slows it down.

If I understand correctly, this is not a limitation? When using the ERF, I would typically use MF and in pure OVF there is no speed penalty.

I think this is my impression, too. When I need the fastest AF, I switch to EVF and that is in low light conditions, mostly, or shooting some action. I wonder what improvements we will get in the future X-Pro3.

With my X-pro1 this is definitely so. It's noticeable, but I never checked it with a stopwatch.
