Hi all,

The aperture blades are stuck on my 27mm lens.

It's definitely the lens rather than the camera as I've tried the same lens on another camera and have the exact same issue.

I guess this is not user repairable and needs to be done by an authorised dealer ?

Searching via Google tells me this doesn't seem to be a common problem on this lens so I guess I'm just unlucky.

If it cannot be repaired cost effectively am torn between another 27mm and the 35mm f2.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil.

Thanks yukosteel. I need to remember to search for Fujinon rather than Fujifilm when looking at lenses as it returns better results.

My lens does work, but only at f2.8, which is not very useful to me especially for street photography, so I may have a go at disassembly as a last resort.

yes, I understand that you want to know whether this is common, but an estimate from the lab will tell you how much this costs. It might cost you nothing, since Fuji has done this time and time again.

Trying to repair this lens on you own, see the video above, would have  avery uncertain outcome and for sure open the door to many more problems.

If it were my lens i would certainly send it in for an estimate and then one can always decide wether to let them repair it or not. Good luck.

Try to clean the lens contacts is a good one. And I have great experience with Fuji customer service, they're pretty quick and they might repair this for free if the lens isn't too old and it's not your own fault.

What camera says when you change aperture values - just showing that number but aperture does not move during shot?

The camera shows the aperture is being changed however when I half press the shutter to set the focus and exposure, the lens isn't changing to the relevant aperture.

The contacts look very clean however I will still give them a clean.

Very interesting. It sounds like manufacturer defect. I think camera should react on that issue and send error warning.

Do images come exposed right? I think it'd be good at least call Fuji Support and report that problem.

Some kind of manufacturer defects should be repaired for free even after the warranty expired.

Fortunately the XF 27mm is so light and small that shipping costs will be very low.

Just checked prices, looks like one of Hong Kong seller have it for only $217 now : )

I purchased few XFlens from that seller and they work great.
