Hi folks,

This is my very first Fuji lens - I've had it for 4 days now. It's huge, it's lovely and the images I get from it are nothing short of stunning.

However, I've come to notice these strange blemishes inside the lens. They are behind the front element (pink and orange) and on/behind one of the inner elements (green). The orange line refers to the ring just below where there's what appears to be machining marks:

I should note that none of these blemishes appear to make any difference to the images, but I find it very strange that they are even there on what I would call a premium lens. I own Canon and Leica lenses and I am not accustomed to this kind of thing.

Is this unusual for Fuji and should I be worried? I think the biggest issue is if the pink-marked fleck of metal or coating were to break off in the future.

Thanks in advance

Definitely contact your dealer. If this was sold to you as a new lens, it shouldn't have these blemishes. Having said that, I've had multiple quality assurance issues with Fuji lenses and cameras, so I wouldn't be surprised if this slipped their QA.

Update - the vendor contacted Fujifilm and organised to swap the lens over within a couple days, so I'm very happy with it.

I should point out, there's still some "marks" on the finish of the inner metal rings. They're like swirls in un-mixed paint. That's the best way I can describe it. There's nothing wrong with the lens, but it's a little surprising. Anyway, I'm quite happy!

Back to exploring this camera system :)
