This is not actually about the video capability of X cameras, it is about Fuji X users that also have a need for a good video capable system. I've never really used video in the past so it has never been a concern with my XT1 or XT10 but now I need a camera with good quality video and ideally 4k. So I'm trying to decide whether I should find something to go alongside my Fuji lineup or whether I should consider selling one of my Fuji cameras to get something more video friendly. Does anyone here shoot video and if so what do you use? It would be great if Fuji announced a new camera with good video features and quality but I'm not sure when that will happen. Whatever I do it needs to be reasonably budget friendly.

Same issues with my X-T1 which I've owned for less than a year and I've actually used the accessory door maybe two or three times.

I'm not sure what you're seeing here, this hasn't been my experience at all. When turning the XT10 on you can take a picture almost immediately and the eye sensor will switch to evf just about as fast as you can turn it on and put your eye to the viewfinder. If I'm not mistaken the XT1 and XT10 have the same processor.

It may be that you're interpreting my comments differently than they were meant. I wasn't talking about casual shooters that don't use EVFs - I was talking about the average XT10 shooter that would typically use the EVF and would sometimes shoot in CH. And I wasn't suggesting that most average XT10 users would need the larger EVF or the bigger buffer but that some will consider these key differences based on their needs. In other words, I agree that the XT10 is going to be a better fit for a high percentage of people but if someone does decide to go with the XT1 it will likely be the buffer and EVF more than the other differences.

That is something to consider but the XT10 has as many controls and the locking ISO dial on the XT1 is as much a disadvantage as it is an advantage depending on your preference. Changing ISO using the dedicated button and dial on the XT10 is easier for some people. The build quality of the XT1 is better but there are aspects of the XT10 that are better like the control pad that was a big negative with the XT1 and I'd guess that the XT10 won't have any of the issues that have plagued the XT1 like the light leak, peeling rubber and the bowed door. The light leak shouldn't be a concern for those buying from a new batch of XT1s but the other issues could be.

To me it would be the buffer or the larger EVF that could make the difference for the average user that isn't trekking through rainforests. And the X-T10 EVF is still very good so it might be that the buffer is the deciding factor or a lot of buyers.

I agree completely and I don't consider myself in the camp that thinks Fuji should forego new features and functionality to maintain "the reason that many of us chose Fuji". I want new features and functionality and I want them implemented in the best possible way and Fuji does that better than the rest and that's one of the main reasons I chose Fuji. The one feature that I consider to be a subpar implementation is face detection but the others are what I would expect from Fuji. And I can say from using other systems with complex AF modes that the new AF features in fw 4 were much easier to learn and when you combine that with the AF document Fuji published it was a breeze.

Most of the time I use AutoISO 6400 with minimum SS 1/80 or 1/125 and change the min SS as needed for a given situation. If you shoot in Aperture mode and set your minimum shutter speed in AutoISO to the correct min SS for the type of shooting you're doing then the camera almost can't get it wrong especially when you add EC into the mix. And if the camera does get it wrong it will be because of your choice of settings and possibly your lens choice not because AutoISO didn't work. I also sometimes shoot in Manual mode and sometimes turn off AutoISO if I know what ISO I want to use and don't plan to change it.

You could make good points for either approach but I believe the XT10 would only sell more if it had been launched with an option to buy the 35f2 in a bundle. Once you've used the XT10 you realize that it really moves farther away from the dslr style even though there is a more subtle hump and the evf is centered. The size of the XT10 with the 27 and I'm sure the 35f2 is perfect and Fuji could still offer additional bundles with the other standard zooms. Either way I don't really see the XT10 targeting the entry level dslr offerings as much as the other mirrorless cameras like the a6000 and the mid-range Olympus cameras. If I remember correctly Olympus bundled one of their cameras with the 17f1.8 lens. But you're probably right that the XPro2 is an even better option to bundle the 35f2.

I get what you're saying but I just don't quite agree. What it is really that you will learn with the additional information? It's useless to me even if I do know how 100 people are using their 3 primes. I'd hate to think I decided to buy 3 high quality fairly expensive primes because 38 people out of 100 chose the same lenses for street photography or travel.

I think you might be getting the impression that we're posting our ideal prime setup for your benefit? The posts you're referring to that contain no information whatsoever all include the information that was requested by the person that started the thread. Maybe you could start your own thread and ask for what you want?

I could see this being an option that some people would take advantage of and there really isn't a downside but it wouldn't interest me much. I just don't really need another function button.

This is my dilemma as well except that mine should be covered by warranty. So I can send it in but I'll pay shipping and I'm not too crazy about having to go through the process just for the accessory door. I probably wouldn't bother with it as it is today but I'm concerned that it will get worse over time.

I understand your point but at the same time most other advanced cameras are similar where the more advanced features you want to use the more you have to learn the system. In fact Fuji has a website dedicated to the new autofocus and I'm not sure that other companies have done this for their users. http://fujifilm-x.com/af/en/

You could get overwhelmed if you attempt to use all of these features but you don't have to use them so you don't need to create the confusion that you're talking about. Instead just use what you want. Nothing has changed with the focus modes or the drive modes and it's easy enough to add the tracking modes to the Q menu or to a function button. If you want to use face detection or ES then you are adding a layer of complexity but I consider ES to be a special situation feature so I don't know how often you need to mix that with the tracking modes. And I'm not sure how effective face detection is anyway so maybe it isn't much of a factor. For me I have tracking modes, shutter type and face detection next to each other in Q menu. Shutter type stays on MS and face detection stays off almost all of the time so I'm just changing drive mode and focus mode as always and then tracking mode for the times I need zone focusing. It's really easy to manage and not a big change for me and on the rare occasion that I need ES or face detection I'm in AF-S single point anyway.
