Feel free to add your own shots from around your home. Home is where we usually spend most of our days, yet somehow most of us never take pictures of it. I was like that too... Yet lately I've been drawn to the light and shapes that surround me. Fuji X100T

I went looking for a nice sunset and failed. Then I got home and saw this from the front door... Fuji X-T1, 50-140 2.8

Yeah, I sent mine to the Netherlands, that's where I bought it. So must have gone through the same routing as yours... Fuji has a long way to go to convince pro's... This is why most of them are still swearing by Canikon... And I don't blame them...

It started out ok for the first few shoots I used it on, then on the third or fourth shoot, I saw that focus was missed on nearly all shots, even the ones shot at apertures of 5.6 and higher... It also started making huge amounts of noise when focussing... So I sent it in. When it came back after 5 weeks, it was even worse. Nearly impossible to use. Repair sheet said they replaced the focussing motor. I sent it back in, after lots of mailing back and forth. They didn't quite believe me. When it came back the second time, after 9 weeks, the repair sheet stated "optical assembly replaced". So basically, they changed nearly all the internals from what I'm reading?

Thanks! A plane is never truly steady. But take enough pictures and hopefully one will be kind of sharp if you squint ;-)
-
Thanks :-) I did my time at an office job and a few weeks was enough to know it would never suit me. So I guess I'm lucky, yes ;-)

Normally technicians have to come and do it. You have to lean quite far out the window and it's a 5m drop if you slip... I do it myself sometimes if it's really bad and we have little time, but usually they are clean-ish enough to fly. That's why I prefer the 56mm, it allows me to pick a clean spot and shoot through it. The wider you go, the more distortion and dirt you see in the final image.
-
Looking forward to seeing your pictures then :-) I tend to favour the 56mm, to avoid distortion and the dirt on the screens.
-
The acting in these is so bad it's funny.. Also, they need a tripod for their video shots :-) Like some of the "cool" and "hip" videos we were forced to watch in school. Likewise on the quality control. I had to send in my 56 APD twice. After it came back the first time, it had actually become worse...

I have this one, it has a car charger attachment. Though I never tried it, forgot I even had it until I just remembered http://www.amazon.com/Wasabi-Power-Battery-Charger-Fujifilm/dp/B0084G3FKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449183925&sr=8-1&keywords=wasabi+fuji+xt1+battery

Cell phones looking for signal will interfere with our VHF communication, similar like holding a phone next to a loudspeaker. So that can be annoying. Flight safe mode on smaller devices is allowed in our company, but only recently. Before that, we were required by law to make you switch them off. A big laptop during take off and landing is a security risk in case of evacuation, that's why you have to put it away. I think that in most cases, it's more a concern for lawyers and liability than actual risk, as are many other safety requirements (yellow fluorescent jackets everywhere anyone?)

The X100T I own has usb charging, which is really handy. Did the X100S have that feature?
-
That said, I'd like to know too about a solution that is solar based. Could be fun for camping trips.

I never use up more than 2 batteries a day, and on a multipe model shoot I usually well surpass 800 to 1000 images without even depleting 2 batteries... I have one original one, and 2 wasabi spares. I never needed more than 2 ever, so I'm fine with charging during the night in the hotel. But I switch of the camera between shots. And I nearly never review shots after taking them. Saves a lot of screen-on time. You can't leave it on all the time like you would a DSLR.

Sterile cockpit rule applies below 10000ft in our company. And all of these were taken well above that

FStops on the Cropped Sensors Not Accurate?
Tom H. replied to johnortt's topic in General Discussion
This nailed it. Could not have expressed it any better. Also don't forget that modern aps-c sensors outclass older generation full frame sensors. The old arguments stem from a time when every aps-c system was partly crippled compared to the more semi-pro full frame dslr's. And while full frame will get you some advantages in iso and dof in very specific circumstances, I consider those benefits to be less important than the size and weight benefits aps-c offers. -
How do you store your camera and lenses when not in use?
Tom H. replied to rickytj's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
In a drawer, or in my camera bag. I don't fuss about. Unless you live in a hot and humid climate, most precautions are not needed. As JaapD said, just a bag and relatively dry is good enough. -
Neck or sholder strap?
Tom H. replied to marcelo_valente's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I tend to switch it up to prevent sore muscles on long walks. -
I will try it out for 30 days, see what difference it makes.
-
I like mine too, though I don't use it as often as it deserves. I tend to gravitate more towards 23mm and 56mm for most of my work. It's by all means a great solution for anytime I need something in between.
-
Good manual flashes, have a look at Cactus. Nice compromise between price and quality I feel.
-
Yes, indeed not the most clear communication. It missed the point by quite a margin ;-)
-
So again, no raw files then at all. It says so quite clearly. And that's what I find silly. I can perfectly understand the argument against processed from raw. But raw in itself is an unprocessed negative.
-
Indeed, but the topic title is misleading in that case :-)
