  1. I'm not sure that is true. For example, will adding 4K video mean having to make the camera body bigger to deal with the excess heat? If so, I'm not necessarily happy about that even though I want to shoot video sometimes.
  2. The blackout time is less on the X-Pro2 than the X-T1... distinctly less obtrusive. The new processor in the X-Pro2 is much faster. Shorter blackout, faster writing, faster EVF refresh, faster turn on/wake up, etc. With the X-T1 in single mode, I have to pause when taking a photo before taking the next one. With the X-Pro2 in single mode, I can go click click click at maybe 3 frames per second. Basically, as fast as my brain can intelligently make choices. I do a lot of photo-journalism at events that are frequently fast moving. I've done fine with the X-T1 but it does lag behind the speed of my own decision making so I have to account for it. In that sense the camera gets in the way a bit. I've happily lived with it because I knew the next iteration would be faster and because the Fuji build, ergonomics and especially lenses are so good and aesthetically pleasing. The X-Pro2 feels agile and unobtrusive for what I do. That is the point at which I don't really care if it gets faster. The X-Pro2 (performance wise) is what I want the X-T1 to be... so like I said, bodes well for the X-T2. I am curious to try the X-Pro2 optical viewfinder in a fast moving situation. Obviously there is no blackout, and you can see more than the image frame which is useful out on the street. There have been so many times just as I have been triggering the shutter, something comes into the frame that I didn't expect.
  3. I have it... I got it in case I wanted it for use with one of the big tele-lenses. Undecided whether I'll use it even then. For general use no thanks... I prefer the camera smaller and lighter and I can grip the camera just fine without it.
  4. If you do lots of tracking of fast moving subjects... why invest in a system that is not as good at that?
  5. The X-T2 (assuming it is at least as good as the X-Pro2) will outperform your D7000 for tracking and AF. You already get 8FPS with the X-T1 and better high ISO performance. So you have a solid upgrade path (X-Pro2 is already known) to the X-T2. I still have my Nikon gear, but have not touched it once since switching to Fuji. The Fuji lenses are such a pleasure to work with.
  6. One thing I loved about the Nikon was that I could turn it on and press the shutter without hesitation. In fact, no matter how I tried, I could not press the shutter fast enough to not take a photo. My X-Pro2 feels more like my Nikon did in terms of speed. It turns on much faster than the X-T1, the screen returns faster, etc. This bodes well for the X-T2. I was also out yesterday testing the X-Pro2 with the 50-140 as far as focus speed and tracking moving objects. Mostly I was shooting cars as they moved towards and away from me (plus a couple people running). A couple times the the focus missed because the car had come close enough that the focus area only saw the flat side of the car, but otherwise every shot was in focus. The X-Pro2 is definitely a step up from the X-T1 and is better than my Nikon. Again that bodes well for the X-T2.
  7. I'm fed up with all the hyper real stuff... it is stylized art more than a photographic representation of the real world. I like simple photography that says something about life. Lots of what I see today is more about itself... trumpeting its own enhancements rather than being a transparent window to the world.
  8. If I am out photographing an event in the daytime with one body and one lens, it would be the 18-135 The 16-55 or the 18-55 kit lens are both just not quite enough reach for me as a single lens option. I'd love to see a 16-80 f4 OIS WR Fuji lens.
  9. I much prefer the bigger viewfinder of the X-T1. However, I've had the X-Pro2 for 10 days now and I'm liking its control layout better than the X-T1. I like all the buttons and controls over on the right side. Particularly image review is much faster. The X-Pro2 buttons are mostly more sure to press which adds to the feeling of improved workflow. I don't love the ISO dial in either, but the X-Pro2 one is better for me than the X-T1. The X-T1 makes me re-orient my hands too often for the left hand controls. The X-Pro2 lets my hands stay in place with right hand thumb and forefinger able to do needed adjustments/tasks. It's the rangefinder design which encourages all the controls to be on one side and that has been interesting to explore. Now I'd like the X-T2 to have the controls also over on the right side.
  10. Of course there is no right answer in these things... but I would have said the same thing before using the X-Pro2 for the past week. Now if I had to choose between the two (fortunately I don't have to) I'd take the X-Pro2. I'd miss the articulating screen, but the X-Pro2 feels so solid and agile in the hands.
  11. My understanding was that Acros is processor intensive and if they put it in existing cameras it would be too slow. In the interview I read, the Fuji rep said that is why it will not be coming to any of the other current cameras. So I assume that the X-T2 with the new processor will also have Acros. I sure hope so!
  12. I do a lot of street photography in the evening and night... so many changing lighting situations. In those settings, with the X-T1 I depend on the LCD and the EVF... especially the EVF with lots of fast action. I've decided to keep the X-Pro2. It's better built than the X-T1, significantly faster (turning on, waking up etc), I can keep my tripods quick release plate on and change the battery (yay), AF is faster, tracks better, Acros is special, as soon as I used the joystick it became a must have and the buttons in general are more sure. The more I like the X-Pro2, the more I wish the EVF matched the LCD. Works great of course for Acros, but for color it just bugs me seeing that bluish color cast in the EVF when the LCD looks great. An annoying blemish on an otherwise splendid camera. The pro's are too many so I'm gonna live with it... until the X-T2 comes out.
  13. I don't particularly care about the 24mp. I've been happy with 16. 24 does give more cropping freedom. However, there is more to the X-Pro2 (and presumably the X-T2) that I like over my X-T1 You mentioned the joystick. It's great! Not only is it great but it keeps the function buttons free. I am loving the Acros simulation. Enough so that I would not give it up. I haven't tried it, but reviews say the X-Pro2 video is significantly better than the X-T1 The 2 card system where you can write raw to one and jpg to the other is very useful. I can keep the quick release plate from my tripod on the X-Pro2 and still replace the battery. (no guarantee to be so on the X-T2) Buttons are distinctly better Menus are better... and previewing images is better/faster Camera is faster... turns on faster, is ready for the next shot faster, wakes up faster. X-T1 always felt clunky that way/X-Pro2 doesn't AF is faster, works better in low light and it tracks better. Build is better, including the doors which feel a tad flimsy on the X-T1 I've been satisfied with my X-T1 (love the lenses), but the X-Pro2 feels fantastic... if it is a preview of the X-T2, there will be a lot to like over the X-T1
  14. Do you use the LCD to judge color? Or you just don't pay much attention to color and trust the auto WB?
  15. You already stated it is a non-issue for you. It is an issue for me... so it is an issue for some people and not for others. I don't like the bluish cast of the X-Pro2 And to your point about the inaccuracy of EVF's, I already acknowledged that myself right from the start. However, that point has no bearing in the matter I am talking about. The X-Pro2 LCD is fine and does not have a bluish cast and it is an electronic display just like the EVF. The EVF in the X-T1 matches its LCD which matches the X-Pro2 LCD. It is only the X-Pro2 EVF that has the weird bluish color cast. The X-Pro2 EVF should match the X-Pro2 LCD.
  16. Of existing cameras (due to needing the new processing speed)... of course the X-T2 will get Acros
  17. On my X-T1 the LCD and EVF match each other and both are a credible representation of the general tone of the jpg. So if they can match on the X-T1 they can and should match on the X-Pro2 as well... The color of the EVF is important to me, just like the color of the LCD is also important to me. You are welcome to use a camera however you wish, but please speak for yourself... I do change WB and exposure settings based on what I see. My guess is lots of other people do to... I doubt many people would be happy if the EVF and LCD were monochrome.
  18. I've shot about 200 photos in a week of having the camera with no issue. Should that be enough to feel confident it will not pop up later?
  19. Old thread, but the most recent I found about the 50-140 I just unpacked my new one and went for a test shoot around the neighborhood. The first thing that struck me is how amazing the OIS is. I took a photo in the shadow of a building and it was handheld 1/4 second @ 140 and it was sharp! So I tried 3 different times with different (still) subjects @ 1/4 second shutter and each one was sharp. I still think I must somehow be making a mistake cause how can it be that good. I checked the shutter speed like 3 times to be sure. I have steady hands, but still, the OIS is phenomenal. The AF is very fast on the X-Pro2. I was standing next to the street tracking cars as they came and went and most shots were in focus. It's a big heavy lens and that limits its usefulness for just walking around all day... but the performance is exceptional. I was unsure if I was going to keep it because of the size/weight, but with such amazing OIS and very good AF speed, it has its advantage.
  20. And yet there is something simple and beautiful about that focal length.
  21. I suggest you go try them. I have an X-T1 and recently purchased the X-Pro2. The EVF in the X-Pro2 has a distinct bluish cast and is different in color to the X-Pro2 LCD. It bugs me. The color representation in the X-T1 EVF is better (besides being bigger) and also matches its LCD. I'm unhappy with the X-Pro2 EVF and still deciding whether to return the camera or live with it. Besides that, I'm impressed with the X-Pro2... enough so that I am leaning towards keeping it even though disappointed with the EVF. The joystick is a big improvement, the build feels a bit better (like the doors for the 2 cards and connectors) and the AF is a bit faster. So yeah, you should try the cameras out. The bluish cast in the EVF does not bother everyone and it may or may not bother you. Assuming similar improvements as seen in the X-Pro2 are put into the X-T2, I plan on getting 1 or 2 of them when they arrive. I like the bigger EVF and want the tilt screen.
  22. Yeah, I have started to need reading glasses. However, I do just fine with the X-T1 and still shoot a lot of fast moving situations without feeling impaired. The diopter adjustment on the X-T1 and now on the X-Pro2 are essential though. It does mean I depend more on the EVF (compared to the LCD) than I would otherwise. Nobody said Fuji claimed that about color accuracy. I'm disappointed because I've used 2 previous Fuji cameras including the X-T1. I understood the X-Pro2 EVF was smaller. However, I assumed that the X-Pro2 EVF would at least not be a big step backwards from the X-T1. The X-Pro2 is their most expensive camera and it's EVF is the worst in terms of color. I wonder if Fuji purposefully made it off to match the X-Pro1? That is the only reason I can think of for them building in such an error... to stay consistent with the X-Pro1. I think it is idiotic to purposefully make the LCD and EVF look different. To build in an error which makes the EVF look aesthetically bad and be less reliable as a representation of the end result than the LCD. If it was not purposeful, then it is essentially a bug and should be fixed. The reactions from people about the color cast in the EVF range from bothered to not so much, but I doubt anybody likes it or wants a bluish cast in the EVF that does not match the LCD or the resulting image.
  23. I probably depend on the EVF more than you cause my eyes don't focus as close as they used to. I value the diopter adjustment of the EVF. With the LCD I have to hold the camera a foot and a half away to focus and then it is hard to see the details. It is not that the X-T1 EVF is warmest, it is that the X-Pro(1 and 2) is way off and not just in a linear way. In those images you posted (thanks), look how wildly different the table looks. I am confident to say that the X-T1 version above probably looks quite close to the actual table color and not that bizarre whitish table top of the X-Pro's. Without seeing the X-T1 EVF, you could not even guess the general color of that table top in the X-Pro2 EVF image.
  24. agreed... Switching between OVF and EVF is jarring. The difference is big and dominates the result. WB cannot be judged by the EVF. Are people mostly using the OVF? I read 3-4 glowing reviews of the X-Pro2 and not one of the ones I read mentioned the strong bluish cast to the EVF. I don't see how it is possible to review a high end camera and not notice and talk about this. I'm surprised this is not being talked about more by users as well. Please contact Fuji and say something. More people contacting them means greater chance of them addressing it.
  25. I'm liking the X-Pro2 iso dial. So far for me it is faster to adjust than my X-T1 because it is the same movement as shutter where the X-T1 makes me move my hands differently. But I am completely fine with the X-T2 maintaining the X-T1 setup. +1 on not wanting too many features so that the camera has to get bigger and heavier. I'm ambivalent about 4k video for that reason. I also do not want IBIS. I do want the X-Pro2 joystick. It's great! Pretty much whatever they do with the X-T2, I'll be getting one. They would have to really mess things up, and they have done a very fine job on all the X-Pro2 refinements. The X-Pro2 controls almost all feel good, solid, well placed. The doors are better than the ones on the X-T1. The X-Pro2 feels great in the hands. I don't mind a price increase if it means the X-T2 feels as solid and well built as the X-Pro2.
