  1. I have had the 23 for a while, and just purchased the 16 yesterday and already used it at 2 events... If I had the 35, I'd more likely pick the 16. The 16 focuses so close which I will use a lot. It is also WR. You can also take a step back and crop if needed. It is versatile. That said, the 23 is such a beautiful lens. If I could only have a single lens (prime) it would be the 23. I'm glad I don't have to choose!
  2. I'd buy that the instant it came out...
  3. If they managed to make it about the size of the current FF DSLR's, that would be a compelling option.
  4. I do plenty of on the street journalism and the 23 1.4 works pretty well at night on the X-T1 under ambient city light. The 23 on the X-T1 feels great in the hands. If you are going out specifically to do photography, a more compact lens is unlikely to have a handling advantage. The X-T1 and 23 combo is already light, balanced and easy to use for hours at a time. Whether climbing on newspaper boxes, fences, holding the camera overhead in crowds, running and so on. I would like faster and more sure in low light AF (which the upcoming firmware may provide).
  5. Were I going on a trip with only 2 lenses... it might well be the 10-24 and the 56 Regarding the 14 vs the 10-24... You get wider with the 10-24. I love it at 10, even if I later crop it to closer to 12 or 14. In faster moving situations, sometimes there is not enough time to move and compose, especially in tight places and in crowds. You can always crop a little, but you cannot add. also the 10-24 can get sharp results in lower light due to the OIS. The 14 is only 1 stop faster in aperture but the OIS will still give 2-3 stops better handheld performance. I've tried longer exposures handheld with the 10-24 and never expected them to come out and was surprised at the results. Under the right conditions, the OIS works wonders. Without the OIS, I'd rather have the new 16 than the 14... because of the 2 stops faster speed. (Haven't actually tried the 16 yet). I'd also prefer the 16 over the 14 because of the weather sealing and though the 14 does good for close focusing, the 16 is even better. I don't find the size weight differences significant compared to other considerations. Particularly taking only 2 lenses.
  6. I love the 10-24... It is on my list of "never will I sell this lens" I do a lot of photography on the street in crowds and the flexibility of the zoom range along with the OIS make it especially useful... and of course sometimes one just wants to get as wide a view in a cramped space as possible. One can always crop it in later, but one cannot add. I'm going to my local shop to get the new 16 1.4 sometime this week. I would likely end up getting it anyway, but the close focusing sold me. Even though I have the 23 and will soon have the 16, no way I would want to give up the 10-24
  7. I'm out doing on the street journalism and frequently at night. The fast primes on my X-T1 give clean clear shots in poor light. Sure I wouldn't mind having in camera OIS, but it does not seem like a pressing need to me. The limitation I most bump against is AF speed in low light. At night, if the subject is moving, I'll take the fast prime over OIS.
  8. I'd prefer the X-T2 to stay at 16mp Even if they manage to go to 24mp and not lose any low light performance, I would rather stay at 16 and gain better quality in low light. (plus keep the smaller and faster file size) I recently purchased an X-T1 and lenses... essentially switching from Nikon (which I still have). I was using a D7000 which is 16mp and didn't like that the subsequent models are bumped up to 24mp and meant I was less likely to upgrade. I wouldn't say it was a major factor, but the X-T1 still being at 16mp was a selling point for me. So this is a reminder that not everyone wants more and more MP's. I would like the ability to upgrade my camera system as better handling, AF, speed etc are developed without also being pushed into more and more MP's that I just don't need. Oh, I would definitely go for the X-T2 over the X-Pro2
  9. X-T1 owner... For lenses I currently have: 10-24 - 23 1.4 - 56 1.2 - 60 Macro - 18-135 I'm about to purchase: 16 1.4 90 2 Looking forward to the 120 Macro (will sell the 60). I'll likely get the 35 f2 because it is WR. I love shooting with the 10-24 - The OIS is superb The 23 and 56 are incredible lenses. I've hardly used the 18-135 which I purchased for convenience and WR. Regarding lens wish lists: I recently switched to the Fuji system. I did so because the camera is smaller and because of the lenses. The current and near future lens lineup is already so good, that I hardly have a wish list. I'd like WR versions of the 23 and 56. Am a bit tempted by the 16-55 2.8 - I do mostly on the go journalism so the fast zoom makes sense but there is something so pleasing about shooting with the Fuji primes... The one thing I would like is faster AF, but that is more the camera than lenses.
