  1. Toughest sport to photograph. You did a great job! Were you shooting through a cut out in the Plexi? I'm stuck shooting trhough the glass causing a 1 stop drop in light.
  2. Good lord! Sounds like you are living the Travel Photographers dream!
  3. Great shots and thanks for creating the post!
  4. Hockey season is starting up again and previously my X-T1 couldn't hold up, images were too soft and had trouble capturing sharp images as the lighting in arenas is horrible. I'll try again with the X-T2 and 50-140 and see how it compares.
  5. That would be ideal. I think I'd need a sherpa to help with all the camera weight though! Ha! Ha!
  6. Embarrassingly, the only action I have using the D500 is at a Red Sox game. Handled very well. I've been using my fuji system for everything and the D500 still has that new camera smell!
  7. Awesome pics! Enjoying the clarity and sharpness! Did you use the 50-140 wth 1.4 TC or the 100-400mm? (I apologize if the question has been asked already. I couldn't find it in the thread.)
  8. Ordered the grip and works wonderfully! I only use it when I need the boost other wise it's lighter to carry the batteries in my pocket. If you're not going to be shooting wildlife or anything with action, you could probably hold off. Just my thoughts. It won't be a permanent fixture on the camera.
  9. Good comment about the 55-200 lens. Yeah, 50-140 would've been the better choice. My Nikon D500 would've been an even smarter choice. Thanks!
  10. The PBR was in town on the weekend so I thought it would be a good time to test out my new X-T2. In reviewing my images, however, none were acceptable. Some things that worked against the camera: - It was an indoor venue so the lighting wasn't best. - Pyrotechnics were used at the beginning and the haze was prevalent throughout the event - Apparently most bulls are black. Most cowboys wear black. Most of the signs in the background are black. In other words, there was a lot of black! This would make it very hard to pick up focus points. Settings: I used the battery grip with boost mode on, - XF55-200mm lens, and my settings were - ISO 12,800, - Aperture f/5.6, - shutter speed 1/640s, - AF-C, - Zone, - full selection of focal points, - AF-C custom was both Accelerating/decelerating objects and ignore obstacles. Conclusion: I believe that the low shutter speed was the culprit as the images of the crowd and other entertainers were fine. I couldn't get the shutter speed up to 1/1000s where it needed to be. In hind sight, I could've tried and then boost exposure in Lightroom. I also could've used my 50-140 but was concerned that the f2.8 would be too narrow a DOF and I wouldn't get both the bull and rider. Also, with the 50-140, battery grip and 3 batteries...it was getting into Nikon weight! It was a good test to learn the limitations of the camera. I think for outdoor rodeos, sports, action, it would work fine. The blackout period between bursts was virtually non-existent and I feel it was grabbing focus fast it was just that even at 12,800 ISO, shutter speed was too low to capture. I still have work to do on my settings and I still require more practice of sports photography but I learned that Bull riding and other rodeo events should be around 1/1000s. Who knew? I've posted some jpgs straight out of the camera with no post done to show you the results. I've also included one of the images of the entertainer to show that it was sharp.
  11. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out!
  12. Hi, I'm not sure if it's a setting that I haven't changed but I've noticed that if I pan the camera back and forth (with finger off the shutter release button), after a few seconds the LCD starts to 'stutter' or jump for lack of better terminology. It isn't smooth. If I tap the shutter release button halfway and release, it goes back to normal with smooth panning. Does that make sense? Does anyone have any ideas? Hopefully it's just a setting. Thanks folks!
  13. Money is always the main issue unless you are getting paid for your pics. I agree with Adam, save up and do it right. The lens won't be discontinued so you have time. The other possibility if it's available to you, is to rent the lens.
  14. So what did you end up buying? In my Nikon world I had the wide zoom 16-35 and I always shot wide, hardly ever used the 35 part of the lens. So naturally the 10-24 would be the best fit for my Fuji, right? Well not so fast. I rented both the 10-24 and the 16mm and although I love the wide angle of the 10-24, shooting the 16mm was just plain fun! Probably the most fun I've had with a lens! Not sure if it was the clutch assembly or what but I've got an order in for that lens. Ideally, I'd like a 10mm prime with WR but that's not on the road map.
  15. I will be in Boston at the end of the month for a visit and get a chance to go to see the Red Sox play. I'd like to get some pics as our seats aren't too bad, (sect B147) and am debating on renting the XF100-400 or if I should bring my Nikon D500 and rent a lens for that rig. Does anyone have any experience shooting an MLB game at night under the lights with the Fuji system? I'm using the X-T1. Cheers!
  16. Great pics! You've really captured some great images! I enjoy how you show us some behind the scenes pics. Do you use the 100-400XF lens too or do you switch to your Canon for long shots like that?
  17. And that's it. Takes a while to upload images this way!
  18. I notice that there is some hazing or aberrations in viewing these images. This must be from the website or how the file was saved as I don't see them in Lightroom.
  19. I wanted to see how the X-T1 held up on fast moving subjects like Motocross. I've never shot them before but the camera and lens worked quite well. All images are with the 55-200mm. There was some under 50cc categories racing and they were quite cute! (and fearless!!)
  20. I also bought the X-T1 with the 18-55 and loved the compact size. (Hey! It was my first lens in the switch from Nikon so it WAS small at the time! Ha! Ha!) I took it and the 55-200 to Hawaii and found that I hardly used the 55-200. I have since bought the 18-135 for use as the travel lens and use my 18-55 for walking around. The 55-200 I use for Motocross races. Norseman's comments are bang on.
  21. You're not the first person I've read to say this. I don't own it so forgive the generality of this comment but in reading reviews of the 56 I heard it was not necessarily fast but people just loved the images it produced. They were ga-ga over it!
