No, this wasn’t and still isn’t the case. There were no other files left from previous downloads and the same thing has happened to both Mac and Windows users as others have experienced. I’ve checked it again repeating the procedure and this “ bug” is still there although I am sure that neither now, nor before, were there any previous files anywhere on my computer. I have uploaded only the first ( without the 2 in the name) and the firmware was uploaded just fine. The bug is in the Fuji system, which, for some reason, contains two identical files, not in the users.

then you will have to spend some “ quality holiday time", in front of a fireplace, working out these issues with your camera. Drink rum or whisky, repeat ad libitum. Merry Holidays!

Whatever one does ( in anything) there will always be some who likes it and some who don’t. Fuji gives you something which they thought it would please some people but even them, though tightly enveloped in their Japanese world of courtesy and Kaizen, must know that they cannot please everyone all the time, but someone, sometimes. Here the link to the explanations X-T1/X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition New Features Guide[Ver.4.20](PDF : 764KB)

Well, this thread has been running since May, 7 moths after and a few vague and generic assurances that someday the prince will come, no update has been spotted at the horizon yet otherwise we will know it. I can tell you that I have started following the sales of X-E2 old or new in the Netherlands and the weirdest thing is happening, little movement on the secondhand market and in the shops, while they are hardly selling any new X-E2 ( so they tell me) because they would sell at the same prices of new X-T10 ( with a more modern software and performance) some shops have even run out of cameras and start now showing, on line, the sign that they are restocking the X-E2 but they aren’t really doing this. I read in this, the fact that Fuji is probably getting ready to do something with this camera. The X Pro 1, once it reached the end of its path was offered in Europe ( and still is) with the least selling lenses of the range, the 18mm and the 27, at the slashed price of €899, including leather bags which few people will ever use. We have yet to see this happening but shops don’t have, many or at all, new X-E2 to sell while , in theory, they are still offering this model among the new Fuji cameras. Except they are not because no cameras are being shipped to the shops. When the new firmware will come ( we have been told so ages ago!) it will tell us how much energy Fuji is still putting into this camera. If it turns out to be little energy then we will know that the end is near and then cameras will start being discounted and offered in kits to rid Fuji of the old stock. As Yoda says...( and he knows, Star Wars is telling us the same)

I am not manic and, whilst aware that it probably is only a download bug,I have nevertheless shared my concerns with the community and gave a fair and early warning here to my fellow members. The warning is in its place because if one attempts to upload the file with the wrong name the camera might not recognize it and problems might arise from that. I am always airing on the safe side, and, since there is no hurry to install a new software on a working camera, always better to be safe first rather than be sorry afterwards.

my two files appear to have been created at the exact same time and are identical in size, the second has no difference other than the number 2 in the name.
-
I have a question Upon download on my Imac, two files with the same name were downloaded, I found this strange, that’s why I did it twice to make sure I didn’t press by mistake the mouse twice. Second time the same thing happened. The files appear identical and have the same name FWUP0005.DAT the second file receives the number 2 ( this is done by the computer automatically when downloading a copy of the same file you already have somewhere) It is my understanding that uploading the second one ( with the 2 in the name) might be giving problems. Before I do anything silly, I am waiting for the rest to tell me what they have downloaded and how they dealt with it.

Fuji X-T1 FW4.20 coming December 17

I beg to differ. Having worked for many years in the international trade, I am sure that is also not as difficult as you say. This is actually the second PR cock-up about the Firmware. The UK office announces, as only office, that the X-E2 will soon receive an firware update which, to this day, it has still to materialize. Simply centralize press releases over these matters. -
well, there is little use to try to convince someone who has already set his mind on something. Best is to embrace diversity and accept that we won’t all like the same things in life. In actual fact I get extremely suspicious about hyped products which seem to be universally accepted by everyone, because, if we are all different as we know we are, how can a product unify us all? So, there are Sony people, Leica people, Fuji people, Nikon people, Canon people, Pentax people, Olympus people ( and so on ). Isn’t that marvelous? To each his own and if Fuji isn’t for OP, well, best of luck with anything that floats his boat.

The link was there above and it appears to have been removed. The funny thing is that it looked identical to a Leica concept design camera with the exception of the name, of course. Perhaps our new member TT_ is trying his design on all the rumors sites? On the Leica rumor site some comments were almost also identical to mine above and actually some were downright hostile. It looks nothing like a Leica either. Cameras tend to stick with an identity. The aficionados' base for each brand tends to identify with a certain look. Fuji has all cameras in its range with a strong visual identity heavily leaning towards retro design. If you don’t turn the cameras you could be forgiven to think that this was a ’70 camera. Futuristic looks aren’t going to appeal to the customer’s base which has been painstakingly pursued by Fuji. True, things can be changed but radical changes in look have been historically never been accepted easily by the customers and companies in all sorts of businesses have lived to regret such choices.

Xpro1 still worth buying? (06.15)
milandro replied to drb's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
you mean by means of wi-fi? The X pro 1 hasn’t got the means to do that -
would this be one of the major selling points?

Fuji X-T1 FW4.20 coming December 17
milandro replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
or, according to some others, not http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/648-disappointed-with-fuji-x-t1-firmware-40-we-have-tipps-for-you/ -
This is pure decadence coupled to new technology! A Dutch company ( run by, I should imagine, very young folks who probably do this as a part of their course of study in industrial design, since in the Netherlands, many higher education courses require a study group of students to set up a company and sell a product as a part of their study... ) Kapsones is the name of the company ( in Dutch it means to give oneself some airs or to be arrogant) are #D printing lens hoods in all manner of designs. Now it would have been probably a good job to realize that whatever color the lens hood is outside, it really needs to be black and non reflective inside ( they don’t appear to be in this image)

Fuji X-T1 FW4.20 coming December 17
milandro replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
If that the case, that the various Fuji offices don’t know what all the others are saying or doing and FUJI-USA says one thing and then the main TOKYO office says another... they really should pull their act together! -
Nice people's shots, but as I envisaged, they are close up of people and there isn’t much in the manner of “ the bar”on them, which I thought it would be your subject . The X100T standard lens is simply not wide enough for the purpose of shooting people in an environment where space is limited. I don’t see why you you wouldn’t consider buying a Fuji with interchangeable lenses. such as a X-T1, XT-10 or X-E2 or X Pro 1 or 2. These cameras are way more compact that a Canon and having experience with Fuji files you know there is no lack in quality there. As for shooting pictures of people for commercial uses, I still, recommend and urge anyone to have people sign a release form, they can change their mind even after a long time and cause problems.

A naughty thought crossed my mind. At Fuji they were sick and tired of the whining on all the fora about the 35mm f1.4 You know this thing of the lens being slow at focussing, hunting, noisy ( not that I ever found that about my copy when I had one), so they commissioned one of the junior designer to go and fish out one of the discarded design which they had considered but not produced before going on with the production of the f1.4. As long as it was sightlier quicker and less noisy. He came back with the blueprints (I know there are no more blueprints but it’s a thought of an older person) for the 35mm f2 and told everyone that if they marketed it right, they could make a lot more money on this lens because the discarded lens was going to cost a lot less to make. Senior designers looked at it with contempt but the marketing department was immediately convinced and even thought that some people were going to buy the two lenses. The junior designer was given a promotion a corner office and from now on he was going to be in charge of the new lenses for the X line.

I was it was a new thread about some rumor about the new firmware or the new X pro 2 or XT 2.
-
Just bought a vented lens hood with a 58mm diameter for my 18-55mm and I have to say using this lens become immediately more enjoyable
-
Good choice. I would, if I were you, get the 18-55 first and then see if you really want the 35mm f2 after using the zoom at that focal length for a while. Then buy the 35mm f2 or even consider buying a 35mm f 1.4 ( with a more pronounced advantage in light efficiency terms over the zoom)
