I just picked up a XF35 f2 and have been shooting with it exclusively for the last week to get to know it's personality, etc. Initially I thought it to be less sharp than I expected, but noticed that it seems to be sharpest just in front of the focus point. I always shoot with the focus point manually selected and as small as possible, so I'm sure of the point before I release the shutter.

I'm going to try to shoot some tests down a tape measure to see if I can confirm, but wanted to ask the experts here to see if that's a known issue with the lens, or perhaps I have a dud. I know with some bodies/lenses you can adjust their focus point to account for manufacturing tolerances, but wasn't sure if that is possible with the Fuji bodies/lenses.

Any thoughts?

Your focal plane is likely to be only a sliver, so missing focus is probably just because you and/or your subject moved a few mm between focusing and pressing the shutter.

Shooting anything wide open is usually bound to give you the impression focus is off, while it's just a normal side effect. I miss focus all the time.

And while there sure are duds around as far as lenses and cameras go, their number is greatly exaggerated by people on forums...
