Hi, sorry if this is a repeat post. I'm new to the X-T10 and was wondering if it's usual to have a LOT of noise/grain in the EVF and LCD in lowlight/dark conditions? I was hoping to photograph the moon last night, but could barely see anything on the screen or in the EVF when trying to compose the shot due to all the noise. Is this normal for the X-T10?

I realise it probably boosts the gain up in lowlight conditions, but it made it pretty impossible to focus or frame anything at all unless I half pressed the shutter release.

It's a lovely camera, and this is gutting if this is the case and not a faulty model as I love night photography.

Do you have focus peaking on? That is likely to be the culprit. For some reason Fuji's focus peaking goes mad in low light and starts adding peaked 'pixels' all over the view giving it the impression of lots of noise. Go into your settings and make sure this is disabled, then try again and see what it's like.

Hi, thanks for the response.

No, no focus peaking on. I've tried pretty much every combination of iso, shutter speed, aperture, PASM, switching to Auto, switching off the exposure preview... everything I can think of. Hence asking here.

I drove out to a store last night to have a look at their display model. I couldn't quite get it in the same environments I have issues with, but it was certainly less fuzzy. Even sticking the lens cap on to *try* and simulate pitch black, the screen had hardly any snow at all. Mine goes crazy.

Think mine's just a bit sensitive.

Bummer... sorry to hear that. When I had my X-T10 I remember the EVF being a little bit noisy in low light (as to be expected), but not as bad as you describe.  Hopefully after the hassle of returning it and getting it replaced you will be a lot happier.

I had same problem with X-E2. Service department at fujifilm did not see my problem, twice, but i got it exchanged to another unit that was much better.

Still not perfect but ok.

My X-Pro1 dont have this noice at all so it must be the EVF in xe2/xt10.

I suggest you get it fixed.

    • Thats strange - I have the same camera and latest version of X Raw Studio (1.28.0.2) and it works as expected (using a Mac). Have you tried looking again at the old raw files that you viewed in the past and were working? That way you know its not something specific about these new files. There was a problem with the previous version of X Raw Studio and the latest release of the Mac operating system but that seems to have been fixed.
    • Hi all, It is my first post here. First, I'm not sure if this is a silly issue, but I couldn't find any help online, so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows how to solve it. Sorry if this seems trivial or simple to correct. I had no problems before and was using the software just fine for more than a year. However, it suddenly started not recognising my files (?). As you can see, I select the folder where I transferred my files from the SD card, and nothing shows. The camera is connected and updated. I'm using the latest version of X Raw Studio as well. I tried deleting all the photos from the folder and transferring them again directly from the SD card, but nothing has changed. Has anyone experienced this before? Any tips on what I might be doing wrong and how to fix it? I uploaded two images to show you what is happening.  Thanks!
