Hi All

I have had an X100 for several years, not used it that much but it's great for a strol around the city.

Almost got the Xpro1 when it was released but could not justify the cost as I shoot most on my Nikon D810.

However the Blackfriday deal on the Xpro1 got me, it was just to good to miss, Xpro1, 18mm, 27mm and a leather case for £499, plus free shipping and 12 months @0% finance, al from Clifton Cameras in UK.

Ok would have rather had 35mm lens then the 27mm, but the 35mm is covered by my X100 and a pancake lens could be fun

The two cameras are doing different things, the X100 series is clearly for an easy to carry around, the X-Pro1 offer the flexibility of XF lenses while keeping it smallish.

 

Now, if we could get an XF pankake 23mm F2.8 lens, I am certain there would be many buyers from the forum already.

The focus speed and accuracy of the X-Pro1 is patethic compared to the dual Contrast+Phase Detection of the X100T and the XE-2. Also, the lack of the electronic range finder of the newer models hinders the manual focus mode. I have the three of them but will put the X-Pro1 and X-E2 on the block as soon as the successor (X-Pro2?) hits the stores.Also, the +/-2 EV comp is insufficient in many real life situations. In any case, 4/5 of the time I shoot with the X100T which, save for the fixed lens, is a perfect camera. The X-Pro2 should be an X100T with interchangeable lenses, period. Who needs 24MP anyway? I don't know anyone who actually prints larger than 16x20 in any case. If you need that, get a full frame camera, plenty out there.

If it would be at least as good as the 27mm, and not much larger, then I'd love to have it.

He is comparing it to the X100 and not the 100T, so you are talking about apples and oranges. I had an X100 and have an XPro-1. There is no comparison as the XPro-1 is much faster. I find that it is on a par with most mirrorless cameras of the same period as when the XPro-1 was new. It's true that with some lenses the focus is slower but many cameras display the same inconsistency from lens to lens. I replaced the X100 with a fine used Leica X2 which focuses faster than most cameras on the market now. But for versatility, IQ, handling, ergonomics and steath for street shooting, the XPro-1 can't be beat. I am looking forward to the promised XPro-2 before I consider ever replacing my beloved XPro-1.

Currently on Amazon buying batteries, screen protector and looking at Thumb grips, have one on X100, will I need on the XPro1?

Don't be fooled by "pancake" sticker on the 27mm lens. I had Canon 5DmkIII at the time I bought 27mm lens and my XT-1. After first five shots with it, I decided to sell my whole Canon gear! And I knew what Canon was able to, since before mkIII, I had also mkII, and 1DmkIII, and some great lenses like 135/2.0, 70-200/2.8 etc...

27mm is a great lens, similarly, I would really like to have something like 23mm/2.8
